I remember Jack wilshere said playing with Jens Lehman was like having Arsene Wenger on the pitch with you always barking out instructions. Abeg we do not need low mentality right now. The task before us is huge considering the kind of teams chasing us. Considering those invisible era, what odegard did was nothing. Martin Keown, Tony Adams, Patrick , Lauren, Jens. C'mon we see these guys bark at each other all the time but it was for a comon goal and that's to win. Winning was all that mattered. I'm happy when I see Ramsdale barking at his defenders and none of them have reacted badly, they just thumbs up pick it up and go about it again. No time for passengers abeg |
In my opinion and from a player perspective, all I saw was 9utburst of emotion. When you are on the pitch busting your guts out and one player is not on the same wavelength, it's very possible especially if you are the type with an infectious attitude to winning and high performance for you to let it out . There was a game we played where we were leading the opposition during Europa league back then where ESR and Nelson staters doing some flips and tricks. I remember Xhaka as captain told them off right there on the pitch. Now they did not react badly but rather toned down and kept it simple till the final whistle was blown. For a young player to become good he must learn how to accept critism at times whether publicly or not. Football is tough and you must be mentally strong. Sometimes it may seem as if the telling off on the pitch may look bad but it's very necessary at times to always get players in tune and maintain high level of concentration. It's the reaction of that player been told off that matters. Football is a team sport and for you to excel you cannot have some players being passengers and sometimes that little kick helps tune them back. Sambi for me is going the way of Pepe. If he feels that he was being picked on rather that keep his head up and prove through performance that he is up to it and can hold his own. I can bet that after all said and done Ode will still go and meet him to speak with him letting know he just needed him to concentrate but it was in the heat of the game, nothing more. If he reacts badly then that's his problem not oDes own. Winning sides do not carry weak mentality personnel. If sambi feels bad about this then would he even cope in team with Viera or Roy Keane?. C'mon this is no time to be a softie. We have titile aspirations right in front of us and we must be physically and mentally strong now |
Spy360:Lol! depends on the argument though. |
Just reading now that Brighton have placed 100M on caicedo... Well done to Chelsea and Manu for turning the market upside down. This madness will sha end one day. The more reason i am well pleased with our recruitment team and style these days. They just work like Ghosts and while everyone is looking one way, they close their deal the other way at the right price. How one earth is Caicedo worth 100M ![]() Anyways hope Brighton can get their share of National cake too as it seems that's what they are sharing nowadays. Very pathethic |
raumdeuter:Haha Dayo! Mi o lo bi kan kan oh. I was always here and comment from time to time even through the rough patches. All in all we must celebrate good times and it's buzzing to be a gunner right now. |
Jodera:Well said!!! Aptly put ! |
BlueRayDick:Yeah most likely. |
iamoyindamola:Hahaha I don hear you oh. Just felt given the fact that it's these same youngsters that have taken us this far, one should just be a bit patient with them especially in times where performances may suffer a bit. Well for the good of the team, I'm sure the manager will make the best possible decision |
kokaneprodigy:In fact having that different type of dynamics in the same position makes the team look stronger. That's why sometimes Man city just move a second gear when they can take out foden and bring in grealish or remove Silva for Marhez. Makes it difficult for opposing teams to know what to expect. Indeed great times with the building of squad depth |
iamoyindamola:I'm not spreading any false claim, just stating opinion based on most reactions to his performance. He his not losing anything, the lad has just had some below par performances so saying he his Lossing it shows lack of understanding of the game from you. Trossard is just a different type of player who offers something different. Fair enough Leandro can be tried to provide healthy competition and overall squad depth which we have been missing but in no way should that mean Nelli is all of a sudden not good enough. |
People should not be hating and camparing nelli with Leandro already. They are two different types of players. In some games Nellis style may prove effecient while in others it may not. Same with Leandro. The difference here is that Leandro is a Nasri type player who although may play from wide will always drift inside given his technical ability and football understanding. This is a guy that hardly misplaces passes and it's good that we have variety of options in the wide areas. What a game. I literally cancelled all my Sunday activities in a long time to watch arsenal play. Old times are back and the players did not dissapoint. Please if Mancity ever have another Zinchenko, they should sell to us oh. Every week that guy's level is above 100 percent. It's incredible and gives the team a massive lift. His interview crowned it all where it showed his impact even in the dressing room bringing in a whole new winning mentality. |
iamoyindamola:J Yes absolutely agree with your stance on that. |
Roland17:correct! Credit goes to all of them involved. This shows proper management direction. No one should be holding us ransom on any player ( Only Kylian Mbappe right now is worth the hype. we are not desperate. It's take it or leave it. Players yapa... |
BlueRayDick:Definitely a big fan. One player I was hoping we had look into. Reminds me of Samit Nasri I would want to believe that Arteta can work on the attitude if indeed that was the issue between him and De Zerby. There is no need paying over the odds for any player if we can get the right player to fit into our style at the right price for us. |
That's why it's not even worth engaging some fans at all. For the amount quoted for Murdryk, we got Gabriel Mag, Rammy and Zinny with change left. Even as talented as Mukhy may be , he is still unproven for shaktar to demand that high fee. Shey him don turn to Messi ni ![]() As rightly said, if the recruitment team has done so well to identify him , then I would trust them to do their job in identifying someone else as equally good or better. Pepe is a big lesson we must learn from and kudos to Edu and his team to sticking to their new found ideaology of getting only what they need and at the best price possible. Apparently it has more to do with greedy agents and middle men driving the price up which Arsenal were having none of. |
Once again if we turn out to be champions this season, then credit goes out firstly to the recruitment team. I can't understand all the fuss about not paying over the odds or being desperate for one player. Please someone should remind me how much GM GJ and Zinny cost in total. That to me is the best business ever. We need to get back to the times when players came to play for us not just for the pay but for ambition and with the right mentality. It's a rigged market these days but some clubs still command respect in the market regardless . Bad as Barca is right now, them no born any player well not to respond to their call. Once again football never lies and once you start well with the right attitude, your odds of winning are always higher. If. We did not convert our momentum in the first half and that game was square at the break, the second half could have been a different story. Truth be told that fist half was reminiscing of the invincibles at their peak. And once again Zinny was unbelievable, been long I saw a player of that high technical ability and understanding of the game since Cazorla and Ozil. Well done to the lads! |

Roland17:Lol |
Roland17:Lol @ Dirty Spuds...the hate is unreal. |
Pele finally resting. Greatest ever! RIP Legend of the game and one I adored as much as Maradona. Sad day for football. |
Roland17:Award for best comment of the year. This was brutal. No peace for any Spuds.... |
iamoyindamola:This is the attitude some of us have been clamoring for. No time to dwell on the past. Focus on what's ahead and make your advantage count. The team have a bigger prize ahead and it glad to see that they also realize this . Hopefully they can come out tops |
BlueRayDick:Seconded! |
GREATIGBOMAN:Hmmm been there before but it took time and serious learning of the ropes to now be grounded in the markets. If you can pm me we can discuss and maybe guide you on what to do. |
sod09:Quite agree that Mirtrovic is a huge loss to Fulham but the naivety showed by the coach and players is unbelievable. Well we all know City were looking for anything and Fulham just bought it . To even think it was the last minute is just a shame though. |
mostob:Its tough to explain but there are some things that are basic and it depends on the Coach and most especially the players. This is a game where city were a man down already from the first half. Going into the second , was there any plan to tilt the control of the game in their favour (Fulham) albeit city having the more technical personnel? Now even if city has the better and more technical players, the fact still remains their a man down and there will always be a place to exploit. Marco Silva did nothing to address this and kept the same shape even when he knew city would still play same way. A simple instruction to play long into the sides of the attacking third and keeping the play out of the middle knowing that's where city strength lies would have helped. Let's even agree that their personell was not up to par ND it's a disgrace that players like willian who should be controlling the game given the circumstances as a cool head and relive pressure was quickly gassed out and substituted without even showing strength in attitude. Now the young man that gave away the pk had already been booked for. Reckless tackle earlier and it was obvious he was jittery, why on earth did they not just Push him upfront maybe even as lone man while the more experienced and cool heads ones create the block in defensive duties . Shout out to paulinha for Fulham in that game and if only he had someone to complement his work maybe just they would have gotten something from it. Not that City did not deserve it for their endeavours but Fulham literally did nothing to exploit their advantage, I may not like Mourhino but men, that man was made for situations like this and why he is still regarded one of the elite gaffers in the modern game. Does Fulham or any team really need City to be two man down to win a game or even get a draw? |
Some teams are just hopeless. Even with a man up the Fulham remained negative in their approach. |
Roland17:Men... Na now I just dey remember all the that time. Very classless indeed. |
sod09:In fact It just occured to me know that they were the ones who unsettled most of our key players at critical times. Henry. Fabregas, Hleb, Vermaleen... In truth Barca must suffer for a long time ..... Now they have the guts to come for the coach. Awon werey!!! |
