a. I am leaving Winnipeg because I'm going back to school. University of Guelph for MSc. Winnipeg is actually a lovely place and cost of living is relatively low.
b. I am not sure if I will have anything left because the apartment I'm going to in Ontario is unfurnished and my things will be taken to Ontario by road.
c. Heat is for warming up the apartment when it is very cold especially during winter, electricity/ hydro is synonymous with NEPA light.

Hello Winterpeg. I don’t know if you’ll mind sharing. I’m about to apply for an Msc in university of Guelph. I already have an Msc in From Nigeria but someone told me I stand a better chance at gaining admission for an Msc program than a PhD. Please can you share some application tips so that I can gain the admission?

Some Nairalanders have been enquiring via mail as of how I got admission offer for MASC.

So, I'd like to explain what I did.

Being a thesis based program, I had to secure a supervisor. I sent several mails, some unresponded till date. The mail comprise of a cover letter where i speak about myself, my B.Sc research project, my skills. Also, I tend to skim through the supervisors profile so I can include 2 - 3 sentences about their work and how it relates to mine. All this to no avail as some will say no funding, no space, inadequate GPA, etc.

So I changed tactics. After finding a prospective professor, I'll look for one of his/her numerous journals and read. Sometimes, It would take like 2-3 days to understand the journal and how it relates to mine. I'll then write my cover letter praising his research work and suggesting likely recommendations. I'll use like 65% of the cover letter to speak about the prof and his work and use the remaining space to speak about myself and how my work will benefit him. Afterwards, I'll attach my transcripts, CV and Bsc research project.

In no time, this worked and I got a supervisor who accepted me. He felt elated that I read and understood his project. I sent him another mail to give me a chance. He said he was not promising but he will try to defend me before graduate admission committee.

With God on my side, I received my offer of admission. I give all glory to God.

Since it’s workforce that is organizing the test, I’m guessing it would be similar to that sterling bank online that that some people wrote late last year it was crazy. I think speed and accuracy is what is important here. It was verbal and quantitative

Thanks dear. I get that he may be right in a way, but my point is...there's really no use coming on this page to discourage people from applying.. If this info got to Nigeria, and I, a Nigerian, could apply, fill in my Naija details, phone number et al and it didn't bounce back and I got a confirmation email stating it has been received afterwards, then every other female can also apply. If there's no interview for west African females yet, well, it still doesn't stop anyone from applying and hoping. I know of lots of people that applied for stuff and didn't get the job till months/years later. My point is..never come online to discourage others! He/she may have done it innocently..but there'll be people that'd read his comment and just give up hope like that...it's also possible that he/she made that comment to reduce the no. of applicants to favour his own fam (if a guy) or her own self (if a lady)..#enoughsaid....below is my own confirmation email received:

This is false. Most of their hostess are Asians. Indonesians, Malaysians, Vietnamese etc. The average Middle Eastern female wouldn't do this job due to culture.

But there are hardly any open days or assessment days for these airlines in Nigeria. I just applied for both etihad and emirates online. I just hope one way or another I'll be invited for an assessment here in Nigeria and succeed.

it's very true oh. I've seen people that had no one at all gain this ptdf scholarship, someone very close to me won that of 2016 and I'm 101% sure she knows no one up there but her God.

UPDATE ON 2018/2019 PTDF SCHOLARSHIP

1. The application is free of charge. When you register, your PIN will be sent to you. Hence, no more purchase of scratch card.

2. The website to put in your application is http://ptdf.flexisaf.com. It is now working

3. You can apply to any university in any country in the course attributed to it. You have three choices to make. That means that you can choose a university in France as first choice, Germany as second choice e.t.c or you can choose all your preferred university in same country.

4. If you do not see your course, you can apply to related course. For example, if your first degree is in Computer Science, you can apply for Petroleum Data Management or if your read Cell Biology, you can apply for MSc Environmental Sciences e.t.c
