Thanks in anticipation. Not a guru bro but these are some issues with your transcript: 1) are you going for your BSc or MSc 2) you didn’t mention what you did after your HND and in what area you majored. There is still a three year gap there. Did you work, study, travel, etc. You’ll have to state what you did. Also the relationship between your HND and computer science. 3) Did you take any standardized test? If you did, you might want to mention that you did. |

Everything was just God’s grace and favor. I saw the notorious black lady doing what she does best. There was this other white lady with a squeezed face dishing out blues and administrative processing ( flight tickets that are hot now I’ll now be waiting for two weeks). Anyways I did my interview at window 5, this Ankara wearing guy was the perfect mix of professional and chilled (leaning towards chilled). We greeted for like 10 secs and he didn’t ask me any technical questions. That SAT trick tipped the interview back to my favor and God just oversaw every every Without further ado, here it is:
VO: Good morning Me: hello good morning VO: how are you? Me: I’m fine, thank you. How was your night? VO: it was fine thanks for asking. VO: where are you going? Me: I’m going to University of South Florida for my undergraduate studies in chemical engineering VO: oh for your baccalaureate in chem engr? Me:yes for my undergraduate studies in chemical engineering (lol I was too nervous to abbreviate anything) VO: did you apply to other schools? Me:yes I applied to three others: New Jersey institute of technology, Georgia Southern University and Cleveland State University. VO: How many did you get admitted to? Me: Just USF. Their admission decision came early and since it was my top choice I didn’t continue with the rest. *i was so nervous when I said this but it was the truth so I didn’t stutter* VO: what’s your highest degree Me: my high school degree VO: when did you leave? * as if he didn’t already know* Me: 2014 VO: so what have you been doing since then? *acting all concerned* Me: I took JAMB twice then I got provisional admission into UI to study chemical engineering but I deferred it to take care of my dad when he was hospitalized and his leg was amputated. It was during this period I prepared for my SAT and I got a very good score. *this last line was very pivotal and it shed light on my strongest attributes* VO:What were your scores? Me:I had 1300, 680 in verbal, 620 in math and 6/8 in essay VO: *nodding his head while typing* who is your sponsor Me: *feeling the strength of the blek pentha returning* my mom VO: what does she do? Me: she is a deputy director in the ministry of defense and also runs a successful clothing business. She currently has 3 stores here in Lagos. VO: do you have a bank statement Me: *gives it to him* VO:checked it for a while then gave it back to me saying the magic words...I wanted to concentrate on the words he said afterwards but I just couldn’t. I was too happy.
This platform was incredibly helpful and I need to thank tolatof for taking time out of work to help, for the mock interviews, the corrections and for giving me that SAT trick |

adedoja99: So my experience. Interview date: 8th of June Time: 6:45
I got there 5:35, then they called 6:30 first then 6:45 next. We went through the whole security checks and all, man I was scared afff but I was over prepared so I kept my cool. Got in and did the thumb print then queued for the visa. So quickly, people abeg apply to a good school and answer the question they asked you pls. A girl went before me and nailed herself. She did well until she was asked until she was asked to mention the schools she applied to ( iglobal, and 2 other universities that are not that bad) but immediately the VO heard iglobal, the VO asked the girl to mention the schools again, and that was when I knew she nailed herself. The funny thing is she wasn't going to iglobal, but she applied. She was also asked "did you take any exam"? She answered: I tool IELTS, but it was not required!!! I felt bad for the babe sha. So my own proper (in no particular order)
VO: Goodmorning (smiling) Me: Goodmorning (trying to hide nervousness) VO: so where are you going? Me: Morehouse college, Atlanta Georgia VO: To do what ? ME: To get my bachelors degree in computer science VO: how did you get to know about the school? ME: it was introduced to me by Mrs ********* , who's the advisor at educationUsa, then I learnt more using Collegeboard big future and I used commonapp to apply VO: Did you use this commonapp to apply to other schools? ME: Yes, I did apply to 9 other schools VO: Wow, you (I didn't hear the rest) ME: Yes I applied to 9 then I mentioned (Davidson college and the rest) VO: Davidson college? Where? ME: North Carolina VO: so why computer science? ME: I chose to study computer science because I have a strong desire for innovations and would love to have a career in software engineering because virtually every industry in Nigeria today uses a computer, and a degree in this field would give me a career that is marketable in any business environment and with just one degree, I can work in the engineering field, medical field..e.t.c VO: Good ME: (smiling) VO: Who's sponsoring you? ME: I got $40k in scholarship per academic year and my aunt (VO cuts in) VO: That's a huge amount of money (smiling) ME: I was just relaxed at this point VO: How did you get it? Me: I took the SAT, TOEFL (cuts in again) VO: What did you score on the SAT? ME: I got 1430 on the new SAT VO: That's a good score ME: (I was just thinking about how I'll locate the pick up location) VO: I've approved your visa.....
I heard the rest, but I can't remember rn. That's it broskis!! Thank you all Hey congrats on your visa. I must say, you have an excellent SAT score why did you choose Morehouse? You could have had other top universities warring over you. But anyways, your hard work and work ethic will pay off massively wherever it is you are! |
