The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has revealed what Nigerians should not do to Bishop Oyedepo, Pastor Paul Enenche, and other pastors that supported Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Primate said Nigerians should not blame them or call them “fake” because all they wanted was change in the country. According to Nigerian Tribune, the clergyman made this known in a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin. The man of God explained that the pastors didn’t give any prophecies but made declarations and prayers to support Peter Obi. The cleric explained the opposition candidates didn’t even listen to the prophetic direction given to them in order to win the election and they should even be blamed not the pastors that supported them with their pastoral callings. Reasons why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not appointed an official spokesperson, after assuming office on Monday, May 29, have emerged. According to The Guardian, the delay is due to the fact that some of President Tinubu’s media aides are yet to agree to his move to change the “architecture of his media” to reflect innovations. Some of Tinubu’s media aides have their reservations about the structure and job descriptions of some designations. The newspaper reported that a new spokesperson is being penciled down, who will “not only be responsible to the President, but be a cabinet member that will observe Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings and also have power to actively participate in discussions and vote, if need be.” The fact that the penciled-down spokesperson will be a cabinet member, means he can’t resume his duties until after his name is submitted as part of ministerial nominees to the 10th National Assembly. Recall that the 10th National Assembly will be inaugurated on June 13. The Guardian reported that a source close to President Tinubu said: “The government is coming with a lot of innovations. And the media, in the presidency, will be different from what we all knew before. That is why it is taking time to be announced.” The source clarified that there is no vacuum for the position though there is no announced spokesperson because Dele Alake has been acting as media adviser to President Tinubu. The source said: “Immediately after the campaign, Alake has been speaking for the President and he will continue to do so. That is why there is no controversy on how to explain government’s stand on many issues.” Another source close to the President blamed the delay in appointing a spokesperson on scheming among Tinubu’s media aides, who do not just want to have the appointment, but also want to have access to him without passing through the CoS. The source said: “Some of his media aides want to eat their cake and have it. They are manipulating the new architecture, to be relevant in the government, and still have direct assess to the President. “But one will be on top, while three or four people will be working under him. I don’t want to mention names now but Nigerians know those who have been doing the work.” Source: https://www.legit.ng/politics/1537826-revealed-president-tinubu-appointed-a-spokesperson-a-week-assuming-office/

Clergymen are believed to be called by God to serve humanity through the altar. Anything outside of church activities is considered a distraction to their divine calling. Little wonder, some denominations don’t allow their pastors to participate in politics. However, few Nigerian clergymen have been daring enough to step out of their comfort zone into the political sphere and have emerged as governors in three states. 1) Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu First on the list is Very Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu, who was known for saying that politics is not a dirty game, but those who are in it for selfish reasons make it dirty. He said: "I am in politics to baptise politics and make it pure". The clergyman-turned-politician was elected the second Executive Governor of Benue State on 2 January 1992 under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). 2) Jolly Nyame Jolly Tavoro Nyame, born on 25 December 1955, was Ordained a Reverend in the United Methodist Church of Nigeria. He was elected governor of Taraba state in 1992 after he joined the previous. 3) Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia Rev Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia upset the Catholic Church and was suspended in May 2022, after he announced his decision to get the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State. Alia, who was with the Catholic Diocese of Gboko, emerged as the APC gubernatorial candidate and later won the March 18, governorship poll to become the second priest after Adasu to contest for the Benue state's seat of power. The Revd. father won 473,933 votes ahead of his closest rival and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Titus Uba, who scored 223,913. 4) Pastor Umo Eno Pastor Umo Eno is the founder of All Nations Christian Ministry International in Akwa Ibom State. The clergyman was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election. Eno was declared the winner after he scored 354,348 to defeat his closest rivals. Source - https://www.legit.ng/politics/1537600-list-clergymen-left-altar-governors/
