Which "south" is it going to? I know it's not the SW who have already tasted the presidency and VP before others in the south. The SW will never vote a SE man and rejected the SS President. Both of those regions are not in any rush to get behind another presidency from the SW.

Zoning as a concept is silly, but if the presidency must be zoned, out of fairness it is the turn of the NC, but the NE may just get the seat due to more political clout. The SE has already pitched their tent with the winning side and has accepted the VP and Senate Presidency under a NC or NE Presidency.

What does SW have to offer the rest of the south? The North has shown their hand and is building bridges.
