The VP should improve his transparency first before calling on others to do so.

Corruption personified equates to Osinbajo.

He should forget about this his deceitful big big talk as Nigerians can't be deceived again.

He has failed.

PoliticsOsinbajo Calls For Improvement In CPI Ranking by Jhayphil(op): 8:03am On Dec 10, 2020
Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has challenged regulatory agencies in Nigeria’s ports to do more in ensuring that Nigeria’s ranking in the Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI) is improved.

VP Osinbajo was speaking on Wednesday at the launch of the Nigerian Port Process Manual at the State House, Abuja.

The Vice President said that despite the resources and time put into the fight against corruption since 2015, when the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office, the CPI has not shown significant improvement.

He said: “while substantial gains have been attained in the fight against corruption in Nigeria, Nigeria’s ranking under certain indices in the Transparency International Corruption Perception Index, CPI, is yet to show an improvement commensurate to the efforts of the government.

“In terms of utility and relevance, the CPI and its constituent data sources are determined largely by and producer for the consumption of the business community.

“It therefore has significant and reputational and economic implications for countries that are being assessed.”

VP Osinbajo said that the analysis of the CPI shows that ports are the primary point of interface between Nigeria and the business community, whether domestic or international, pointing out that the experiences of the international community shape their perception, which feeds into the reputation of the country.

“A successful systemic intervention in the port sector will rapidly change the narrative, the perception and the ranking of Nigeria in the CPI,” he said.

He reiterated that the Process Manual on Ports Operations was developed to address vulnerabilities identified in processes in the ports.

“The manual is aimed at fostering an enabling environment for domestic and foreign producers.

“It is also aimed at attracting more foreign investment for the nation that could enhance our economic development.”

According to Prof. Osinbajo, the Process Manual on Port Operations is expected to be a key indicator for the effective implementation of the Executive Order 1, issued in 2017 to address and promote transparency and efficiency in the business environment.

“The Process Manual is a step by step trajectory of processes at the ports. It outlines the actors and timelines for each process; it guides the user by highlighting all required documentation, payments, timelines and the responsible agencies.

“It equally guides the port operators by detailing the implementation chain and provides clarity on the time required for each process.

“The process manual is expected to ensure predictability, promote efficiency and accountability, reduce corruption in the port processes, eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks faced by port users and reduce the opportunity for illegal demands in the ports.

“I am told the service delivery timeline stated in the manual was provided by each of the relevant agencies based on their own standard operating procedures and it is expected that as efficiency and port enabling environment improves, this service delivery timelines will further reduce.

“It is expected that the manual would be reviewed and updated as issues and development emerge.”

PoliticsIs Fg's N30,000 Enough For Taxi Drivers, Keke Napep And Okada Riders? by Jhayphil(op): 9:55am On Dec 07, 2020
On Sunday, I read a statement that the Federal Government would soon commence the enrolment and payment of N30,000 to Nigerians operating in the transport business – including rideshare drivers Uber, Bolt, etc, taxi drivers, bus drivers, Keke Napep riders, Okada riders, cart pushers etc.

The first thing that came to mind was, is N30,000 really enough?
What can N30,000 do for these people, then I remembered that my brake pad and fan belt are two problems I need to attend to very urgently.

In fact, my mechanic told me that if my fan belt cuts, I will be stuck at that very point but even worse is that the day my brake will fail, he prays I don’t kill anybody but as a rugged Lagos boy, no be today, we dey drive without brake.

So why am I writing this? It is because all the money I need to fix my car is less than N15k and I don’t have it. It was then that I knew that N30,000 is a lot of money even for me. If I get that N30,000, I will not only fix my car, I will balance at my regular joint and buy fish and beer to wash it down.

That aside, no government has done this for Nigerians as long as I can remember, so therefore this must count for something. As we say in Naija, it is our national cake and more people are eating from it.
The statement by Laolu Akande, Prof. Osinbajo’s spokesperson also said they are paying salaries of private businesses that were affected by COVID and that the artisans have also gotten N30,000.

Just to verify the information, I went to Twitter and typed Survival Fund and Payroll Support, guy, I weak. See people getting alert anyhow and flashing it on social media. Abeg where I dey wey all these things dey happen?

Anyhow sha, I must collect inside this national cake and I dey encourage others to tell people wey dem know wey be driver or artisan.

Remember, na our national cake.

PoliticsRe: Nigerians Are Innovative And Creative, Osinbajo Says by Jhayphil: 4:48pm On Dec 06, 2020
Innovative ideas are the real reasons behind problem solving in this age and staying relevant in the world of today means you need to have it (innovative ideas). And, innovation allows for growth and development.
PoliticsWhy Nigerians Are The Biggest Export To The World by Jhayphil(op): 4:24pm On Dec 06, 2020
Ask even the average 6th grader and they would tell you that Nigeria is known the world over as an exporter of crude oil but if the words of the Vice President are to be believed, all of that would soon be a thing of the past because it is already happening before our very eyes that the enormous human resource of the country coupled with our huge imagination and creativity is set to change the image and narrative of the country.

Way back into the 1990’s, there has always been an attraction for Nigerian trained doctors the world over but particularly in Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. Nurses too were not left out but what we are currently witnessing is that our resourcefulness and other attributes are increasingly in high demand globally, such as our capacity for innovation, imagination, creative content and our highly adaptive solutions.

Few can argue the levels we attain whenever we are placed in scenarios that allow us to maximise our potentials. Regularly we hear stories of how Nigerian students are not just topping their classes in foreign schools, but the innovations and the creative nous of others in the real world are mind boggling. In recent times we’ve heard of Dr. Ogbuagu’s contribution to the breakthrough in Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine as well as America’s President-elect Joe Biden nominating Nigerian born lawyer Adewale Adeyemo as the Deputy Treasury Secretary of the United States.

Just as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo noted in a virtual message to the 2020 Art of Technology conference that “the challenge of providing the means of self-actualization for nearly 200 million people and one of the world’s fastest-growing populations, requires that we must marshal the resourcefulness and ingenuity of our citizens in the quest for development and growth as true wealth, is not about being a primary producer, but about value-added, it’s about maximally leveraging on what you have.”

We are not where we ought to be, but if 2020 and its notable companion Covid19 taught us anything, it is that the Nigerian entrepreneur is always ready to capitalize on any opportunity presented and with the ever expanding internet broadband connectivity, plus the improvement on road and rail infrastructure, were the Siemens deal on power distribution alongside the Solar Power Naija scheme of the Economic Sustainability Plan to come to fruition, the sky is the limit for our technological and economic advancement.
