Its not easy being a man especially with our present economic situation in Nigeria. A lot of people can't afford three square meals daily. Once we eat breakfast, we have to manage till night for dinner. As for me, if I want to stay filled up throughout the day, I just eat Bread and Beans or Yam and Beans and I'm set for the day. Johannesburg offers visitors a whole lot of fascinating experience that will keep them spell-bound throughout their stay in the Gold City. Being one of the 50 largest urban areas in the world and also the largest city in South Africa, Jo’Burg is the vibrant heart of Africa. Below is a list of 6 attractions that will make you fall in love with the beautiful city of Johannesburg. 1. Gold Reef City Located just 8 kilometers from the centre of Johannesburg, Gold Reef City is one of the symbols of Johannesburg. Gold Reef City offers a wide range of experiences with its 4D Theatre, exciting casino, fascinating theme park, best restaurants… which all run 24 hours a day. Kids can have fun with the rides at the Gold Reef Theme Park and also learning about the mining history of the Johannesburg. Don’t miss your chance of visiting as Gold Reef City is one of South Africa’s top family attractions. 2. Cradle of Mankind The Cradle of Humankind was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. The historic site occupies 47,000 hectares (180 sq mi) and it contains a complex of limestone caves. These caves contain fossils of extinct species of humans such as a 2.3-million-year-old Australopithecus africanus (nicknamed “Mrs. Ples”), found in 1947 by Robert Broom and John T. Robinson. One of the chambers in the cave- The Dinaledi Chamber- contains over 1500 fossils, the most extensive discovery of a single hominid species ever found in Africa. The site is a great place to learn about the history and evolution of mankind. 3. Apartheid Museum Delve into the apartheid years of South Africa with a walk in this world-class museum. A visit to the Apartheid Museum is both depressing and inspiring, emotional yet uplifting as you get to see the days of apartheid portrayed through mesmerizing, interactive displays and film footage. The displays in the museum will leave you shocked at how the racially-discriminating regime destroyed the lives of many South Africans- its not advisable to bring children below 11 here. 4. Lion Park The Lion Park is a wonderful place for tourists who love wildlife. Located near Johannesburg, the park- which is home to over 80 rare white lions- offers a spectacular chance to be up close and personal with lions and other animals that are indigenous to Africa. Visitors to the park enjoy the opportunity of touching lion cubs while you pet them. Tourists also get to interact with other animals like the tamed giraffe. The attraction is open every day of the year from 8:30 am to 5:00pm. 5. FNB Stadium Another must-see attraction is Africa’s largest football stadium- the FNB Stadium. The stadium hosts large rugby and soccer matches and big events like concerts. Also known as Soccer City- the 94,700 capacity stadium hosted the first and last match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. The stadium is significant to South Africans not only for sports but also the apartheid freedom struggle. Here the first mass rally was held following the release of Nelson Mandela from prison in 1990, and, in 1993, thousands gathered here to mourn the assassination of freedom struggle hero Chris Hani. The stadium’s design looks like a calabash, or African beer pot. The warm, earthy colours of the 94 700-seater stadium show up vividly against the urban Sowetan landscape. 6. SAB World of Beer The South African Breweries is a must-visit attraction when in Johannesburg. It offers a fascinating introduction to the history of beer and brewing with 3D movies, floating holograms and a large screen with surround-sound to tell the tale of South Africa’s popular alcoholic beverage. At World of Beer, visitors are taken on an entertaining and highly informative history of beer-making, from the earliest known evidence of beer-brewing in Egypt and Mesopotamia to the honky-tonk beer halls of the gold-rush era of Johannesburg Source: http://kqholidaysng.com/2016/09/29/top-6-things-to-do-in-johannesburg/

Only few or none is as spectacular, grand and large as the great Victoria Falls. Located on the fourth largest river in Africa- Zambezi River– in the beautiful town of Livingstone, Zambia; this waterfall is a grand beauty to behold. Victoria Falls has a length of over one kilometre and it’s over a hundred metres high which makes it the largest waterfall in the world. Known as Mosi-oa-Tunya– meaning ‘The Smoke that Thunders’- by the locals, the waterfall’s noise can be heard from a distance of 40 kilometres and visible from 50 kilometres away. The waterfall is a UNESCO Heritage Site and it attracts tourists from all over the world. The best time to see the scenic and grand features of the falls is when the water level rises in April when the rainy season ends. During this period, an average of 500 million litres of water flows while the lowest level is between October and early November. The water level drops during this period and it’s very possible to walk through some parts of the waterfall. Victoria Falls is spectacular due to the natural phenomena that occur around it, like the rainbow that appears above it, the spray which looks like an inverted rain and the mist which can be seen from a long distance away. There are so many activities that tourists can indulge in around Victoria Falls. You can do the ‘flight of angels’ which involves viewing and touring the scenic and picturesque waterfall landscape from a helicopter flight. Tourists can raft on the wild rapids below the falls- this is for the overly adventurous and it’s a very popular adventure in the area alongside kayaking, canoe ride, fishing and riding on horseback. There’s the Victoria Falls National Park which contains abundant wildlife like elephants, giraffes, zebra and antelopes. You can take a boat or open vehicles for game viewing. Witnessing the wildlife in their natural habitat, untamed and undisturbed. Affordable and quality accommodation is available for tourists and visitors; you can book in advance to get the best service. There is an airport in Livingstone and Kenya Airways uses it as a stopover destination for customers on its Lagos to Cape Town route. The area is very peaceful and there no security situations that will scare you away from visiting this magnificent natural wonder. The people are warm and will welcome you with a smile, always ready to help- all you need to do is ask and you will be surprised at their generosity and goodwill. In a bid to keep up with the latest technologies and innovations as well as enhancing rescue operations on public beaches, the city of Dubai has launched robot lifeguards. Swimming at 12 times faster than a human, the innovation will be the first of its kind in the Middle East. The robot is remote controllable and easily transportable from dry land to water. The robot is battery-powered and capable enough to perform 30 rescue operations, ensuring swiftness and efficiency in security and safety of beach-goers on Dubai's public beaches. It should be noted that robots like this are available in USA, UK, Greece to mention a few. The 4ft robot is known as EMILY (Emergency Integrated Lifesaving Lanyard) and it can cruise through rip-currents and swift water at speeds up to 22 mph to reach distressed swimmers. 5 Benefits of Travel Visiting a foreign country opens your eyes to how the rest of the world lives. Remember, you only live once; so if you dont travel, you might be missing a life-changing experience. Here are some ways travel can be of benefit to your life. 1. View New Cultures Travel affords you to experience new and foreing cultures. Apart from being educational and enlightening, its fun looking at cultures that are more advanced and modern than yours. As a tourist, it is your duty to respect the culture of the place you are visiting- what people deem acceptable varies. In the long run, you get to appreciate your own culture, if you dont like the foreign experience. 2. Challenge your taste buds Checking out the culinary skills of other lands while traveling guarantees a lovely and memorable experience. When you travel, try and have a taste of new food. Try out different affordable restaurantsand check whats on their menu. Try different spices and other alternatives to unhealthy meals. But be careful here, don't eat too much so you won't fall sick. Remember you are on a trip to enjoy yourself. 3. Learn new languages Apart from learning new cultures, travel helps you learn new languages. Nelson Mandela once said, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart''. Apart from exercising your brain, learning new language makes you interact more with people everywhere you go. When you speak the language of the locals, they wont see you as a tourist anymore- it shows you care about them therefore, they will take care of you. 4. Expand your business If you are an entrepreneur, we cannot over empahsize the fact that travel makes you see and learn more about good business opportunities. Its would be so surprising to know how much you can benefit especially when you are travelling with other entrepreneurs, CEOs and so on. You will be able to communicate better, both verbally and non-verbally. Travelling to places like China and Japan will open your eyes technology-wise. 5. Relax Travel is a very good method to release stress. Sometimes, you can use it as a means of escape- leaving the hustle, bustle and the overcrowded surroundings. We know you get to do some sightseeings and the rest, but its positive stress compared to office work. Getting a break from your daily and normal routine releases a great amount of stress from your body. Lake Retba The Strawberry Milkshake of Senegal Located some few kilometres away from the capital city of Senegal- Dakar; is the amazing Lake Retba or (Lac Rose). What amazes visitors and tourists alike is the lake’s unusual but vivid pink colour. It's close proximity with the Atlantic makes its salt content very high- a lot more than the Dead Sea. The pink colour of the lake is caused by the bacteria called Dunaliella Sanila, which is attracted by the salt in the water. The bacteria produce a red pigment in order to absorb the sunlight, thus giving the lake its unique colour. The sunshine experienced during the dry season (which lasts from November to June) makes its colour very visible and less during the rainy season (July-October). Due to its high salt content, not many living organisms can survive in this lake. It is mainly for salt production and tourist attraction. The salt collectors rub Shea butter to protect their skin while extracting salt from the lake. A wonderful place for bird watching, you can even get a tour guide to take you on a boat tour of the lake. The Lac Rose has been the finishing point of the Paris-Dakar Rally before it was moved to South America. If you are thinking of staying around, there are many hotels dotting the shoreline of the lake and also many restaurants with lots of delicacies. Lac Rose is gradually becoming a major tourist destination in West Africa, so it’s currently being evaluated to be considered a UNESCO World Heritage Centre. Compared to a strawberry milkshake or pink lemonade, a visit to this lake will surely thrill you and remind you of the beauty of Africa. Visiting Senegal soon, ensure that a trip to this ‘wonder of nature’ is included in your itinerary. Safari, a Swahili word which means 'journey' is used to describe a guided tour to observe animals in their natural, unrestricted and untamed habitat. Safaris in Eastern Africa is getting more popular each year as the chance to get close to animals- especially the 'Big Five' (buffalo, lions, leopards, elephants and rhinoceroses), in their natural habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Safaris offer a fabulous and memorable experience, so if you have the opportunity, just take it. But I doubt if Nigerians can go on the type of safari in the picture below, in an uncovered vehicle and lions freely roaming around. Are you brave enough?
