news from Tiwa Savage and
her music manager husband
T-Billz that they where
expecting a baby. It is the
couple’s first child together.
Now, for loyal “superfans”
of AML, you know we called
this mid last year in 2014 in
podcast episode number 5.
In addition, in that podcast
episode, the main topic was
on Tiwa Savage’s video
‘Wanted’ and the need for
her to think about the fact
that she could and most
likely would start a family
soon, strategize, and avoid
diluting her powerful
brand; which we felt her
‘Wanted’ video was doing.
In any event, Tiwa is now
pregnant and this is great
news, but of course.
However, we haven’t
enjoyed the luxury of seeing
any female music star, in
Nigeria’s contemporary
music industry, rise to the
top, stay there, get
pregnant, have her baby,
come back and still stay at
the top of her game. We
haven’t even had a woman
reach that pinnacle to begin
with.
In the USA, it happens all
the time. From Beyonce to
Alicia Keys, Ciara to Kelly
Rowland, we can cite
numerous stars where
having a baby is seriously
no big deal, it is great news
and they can move on and
show up “Yonce’ing” on the
world with mega moves and
hits. This is a first for
Nigeria. To me, it is exciting
but how will Nigeria’s
entertainment industry
handle it? Are we able to
still continue to hire Tiwa
for live performances? Have
her as brand ambassador
and even expand into home
care products, much like
Kate Henshaw does or will
this be the end of Tiwa
Savage’s mega career as we
know it? I am hoping it is
the former.
I am curious to observe and
watch what happens. Career
goals do change when
babies come into the
picture. In addition,
depending on each woman
and/or their finances, some
may prefer or can afford to
stay home for the utmost
important job of raising
their babies for the first few
years; while others just do
better raising their babies
and doing the work juggle.
I do note Nigerian women
in Nigeria are so lucky
because unlike their
counterparts in the USA or
the UK, they can summon
an army of help to allow
them the luxury of being
able to still run successful
businesses or pursue their
professional careers,
barring any other
hindrances.

Since popular Nollywood actress Ini
Edo’s marriage to Philip Ehiagwina,
crashed, news of her ex-husband eloping
to Ghana with a new lover went viral.
According to sources, the lady was one of
the major reasons Philip abandoned Ini
in Nigeria and relocated to Ghana, in
preparation to solemnize their union.
Philip who must have read the news, has
finally reacted saying it’s all hogwash.
He denied ever contemplating marriage
or relocating to Ghana to be with the
lady, and he further confirmed he is not
in any relationship and isn’t planning to
get married again anytime soon.
“I am not getting married and I don’t
know where that is coming from. I don’t
have a girlfriend and I am not dating
anyone. I am not married anymore and

A few days ago, news broke that Nollywood actress, Nkiru Sylvanus, is involved with Stanley Duru, the former husband of fellow actress, Oge Okoye.

The reports further claimed that the pair had concluded plans to get married.


We reached out to the management of all the parties involved, but so far, none of them has responded to our inquiries

However, a family source from Nkiru’s camp who knew about the whole affair, shed some light on the story to YNaija.

[b]Our source, who would rather not be named said: “It is funny how the media is blaming Nkiru when it is actually a complicated affair. Oge and Nkiru used to be close friends, they met Stanley at the same time in Enugu in 2006. Nkiru and Stanley fell in love and Oge the back stabber, knew this yet somehow she sheepishly let Stanley impregnate her. Nkiru was hurt but she let go of the love of her life for a friend, she didn’t want her to be put to shame and mocked for having a child out of wedlock. So, Oge Okoye and Stanley Duru moved to Amsterdam and got married.”

“Of course a dog will always return to its vomit, after having their first son, Oge cheated on Stanley with a friend of his and he paid her back by dating one Dutch lady, Barbara with whom he now has a child, Uchechi, but let’s leave that story for another time. They somehow reconciled and she took in again and delivered a baby girl in 2010 but they officially parted ways in 2012, you media people didn’t know that, did you? On realizing they were both single again, Nkiru and Stanley reconnected and they regretted letting each other go. They got really close after Nkiru escaped from the kidnappers’ den,” the source added.

On the postponed wedding, our source said: “They have done the family introduction already. They were actually planning a secret wedding for December 27 but it has been postponed, they didn’t plan for the news to get out, so that changed everything”When asked why the wedding was postponed, the source declined and said “That’s how much information I can give my dear, Nkiru’s media people are working on a press statement already, everything you need to know will be revealed there”[/b]

Contrary to reports that actress Oge Okoye is unhappy with the development, the source claimed otherwise.

“She is not furious, she is not devastated at all. She and Stanley parted ways since and she has moved on. Moreover she has no reason to be hurt, after all she snatched Stanley from my cousin first”

Nkiru has said more than a few times, that she would not mind being a second wife.

While speaking on a TV programme months ago, she said: “ If the situation and the person is good, I’ll go for it. I’ve said it before that if ladies don’t stop this nonsense they call ‘one-man-one-wife’, many of them will get to 40 and still remain single. There are more women than men. Go to churches, the number of single ladies in most cases is three times the number of single guys”.
