Hopefulness was born into a very poor family, the MEDIOCRE family.

Hope's father's name is Mediocre while his mother's name is Limitation. Hope was fed up with his hometown called 'Happy-go-Lucky town' because of its poor state. He wanted to leave his street called AVERAGE STREET and go to the ISLAND OF GREATNESS but there is a big river he must swim through to get to the island. The river is called 'RIVER OF ACHIEVEMENT'

Alacrity is the eldest brother of Hopefulness. He got drowned in a river while trying to get to the island of greatness. It was Badmanner who misled him by leading him away from the river of achievement to the RIVER OF HASTE where the OCTOPUS OF TROUBLE strangled him.

After his death, Hope's parents warned him against going to the RIVER OF ACHIEVEMENT. However, Father Sage, a priest, began to motivate VULNERABILITY who is Hope's immediate elder brother to get to that island. However, he warned him not to blow his TRUMPET OF IMAGINATION about, else he wouldn't get to that island...
