He is too ambitious for that. How can he leave APC because he wanted to be governor to go be deputy in PDP? If thats his endgame, then thats shooting yourself in the foot.

if PDP truly wants to win ondo2020, they should allow Jegede to have the ticket. Agboola should also accept to be his running mate.

By Osagie Otabor, Akure

Few hours to commencement of the primary of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ondo State, more aspirants have announced withdrawal from the race for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

On Sunday night, Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele, became the first aspirant to step down for the Governor.

Others who announced their withdrawal from the race for Akeredolu include Dr. Olusegun Abraham, Jimi Odimayo and Dr. Nath Adojutelegan.

They said they withdrew from the race to move the party forward.

PoliticsRe: Olusegun Abraham Steps Down For Akeredolu, Declares Support For Him by Jimiyung(m): 11:15am On Jul 20, 2020
Ambition killed Abena. Agbo and Abena thought aketi would die when he was sick last year and missing from the state. In their minds, they were already governor and deputy but when Aketi recovered and returned, they could not live with the disappointment. Agbo will soon be impeached and Abena should count himself lucky if he is not picked up for saying he rigged the election in Akure on behalf of Aketi. In a sane environment, he should be arrested to explain that statement.
richiemcgold:
Abraham himself knows that he stands no chance of wrestling the ticket away from AKeti. He's not that strong in ondo state. I can only pity his loyalists who have been following him blindly all this while, especially Abena.
It is now a straight battle between Olusola oke and AKeti.
PoliticsRe: Olusegun Abraham Steps Down For Akeredolu, Declares Support For Him by Jimiyung(m): 11:01am On Jul 20, 2020
The support must be for the election because Aketi does not need Abraham or Ife’s support to win the primary and their influence on the main election is minute.

He has already won the primary. The focus is on the election.

Yes, result is all that matters.

His 2nd term will be worst, I don't pray Aketi to win primary election.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu: I Have No Favoured Candidate In Ondo APC Primary by Jimiyung(m): 5:42pm On Jul 15, 2020
Is Owo the whole Ondo state? Was it only Owo that voted him in? The last election he won, did he have 100% of all votes in Owo? All he needs is to get adequate votes from the 3 senatorial districts. Like i said, its just around the corner and no need for online arguments. The result is all that matters.
Sammy07:
Reality is different from Online.
Except you're in Owo, then you won't know that people no dey him back again.

How will you tell the students to vote for himhuh
lol.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu: I Have No Favoured Candidate In Ondo APC Primary by Jimiyung(m): 5:36pm On Jul 15, 2020
Dont forget all you have is one vote and for every “we will send him back to Ibadan”, there are 10 “we will send him back to the government house”. Its only a matter of days for the primary and couple of months for the election. He who laughs last laughs best.
Sammy07:
Asiwaju, I know you guys will want to retain Ondo as apc, you wouldn't wanna loose it as Oyo.

Well, Akeredolu should not be the one to represent the party.
He shouldn't win the primary election, if another candidate wins it, Ondo MIGHT retain APC.

cos, we will send him back to ibadan, he should go and help Seyi Makinde with his audio governance.
PoliticsPDP May Postpone Primary In Ondo by Jimiyung(op): 4:41pm On Jul 14, 2020
Indications have emerged that the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) may postponed its governorship primary election in Ondo State scheduled for July 22 over alleged doctoring of the delegates list.

This is dependent on the report of Hassan Dankwambo Appeal Committee, which visited the State on Monday

Over 101 fictitious names were alleged to have been injected into the list. Seven out of the eight aspirants cleared to contest at the primary, including the Ondo Elders Council and the State Caretaker Committee warned against using the delegates list submitted by Kingsley Chinda, who was Secretary of the PDP Ward congresses Electoral Committee for Ondo State.

The seven aspirants who kicked against the list were Ayorinde Bode, Ebiseni Sola, Eyitayo Jegede, Kunlere Boluwaji, Okunomo Banji Ben, Olafeso Eddy, and Gooday Erewa.

Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, who was accused of doctoring the list, was absent at the meeting.

A member of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) told journalists in Akure that the report of Dankwanbo would determined if those indicted would be sanctioned. The NWC member said the protest against the list was shocking and disappointing.

According to him: “The NWC of the party is very serious about ensuring that the PDP takes over Ondo State from the ruling APC and would do anything to ensure that the unity and stability of the party is kept safe especially as the governorship election draws nearer.

“All eyes are now on Agboola Ajayi. The other aspirants have called for his disqualification from the election. But the NWC is weighing its options. They are looking for a way of pacifying these other aspirants. Some of them have stayed in the party since 2016 till date, Ajayi just joined us back not too long.

“The issue on ground is whether the Deputy Governor will not cause disaffection in the party and kill the confidence the people of the state and members of the PDP have in the party.

“The NWC is thinking about postponing the primary election. This will afford the party time to do diligent work on the delegates list and settle the seemingly crisis that has emanated from the doctored list.”

Senator Nicholas Tofowomo representing Ondo South has said any governorship aspirant attempting to steal the mandate of the people by substituting the names of legitimate delegates of the party should be suspended from the party without any delay.

South West Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr..Ayo Fadaka, said the act of replacing delegates names has never happened in the PDP before.

Fadaka said leaders of the party in the state are united to ensure that the doctored delegate list is corrected and the original names returned.

But the Deputy Governor, who spoke through his Media Adviser, Allen Sowore, said it was understandable his political adversaries within the PDP and APC, have intensified fruitless efforts through sponsored media attacks to smear his reputation since he moved from the ruling APC to the PDP.

He stated that since he became the rave of the moment, it was expected that the Akeredolu’s government and sponsored PDP aspirants would stop at nothing to blackmail him for relevance and political gains.

Ajayi noted that he has been vindicated by a Court of Appeal ruling in the issue of allege age falsification being peddled against him.

He said he was not a member of the NWC of the PDP and could not have influenced the ‘doctored’ list if it existed at all.

His words: “Some PDP aspirants, who are being sponsored by the Ondo State Government to obtain forms just to undermine the capacity of the opposition party in its bid to take over the reins of government from the wobbling and floundering Akeredolu, have suddenly realized that it’s not going to be business as usual.

“On the other hand, the Deputy Governor is receiving the last kicks of a dying horse from the governor’s camp. This may not be unconnected to the fact that the Akeredolu led government has so far find it arduous to come out of coma and fill the gap the exit of the Deputy Governor created.

“It must be noted that it is the national leadership of PDP that sent a committee to see to the conduct of delegates election and they are the custodian of the list and not the Deputy Governor.

“The Deputy Governor as a governorship aspirant of the PDP submitted the basic requirements and qualifications for the governorship contest – SSCE results, official age declaration, membership card and tax clearance; all of which have been screened and certified okay. There was a petition against his Law School certificate of Call to Bar. This again has been dismissed by the highest and most distinguished Body of Benchers.

“It is therefore foolhardy and unfortunate that those who should know better are still wandering and wallowing in their pool of ignorance over a matter which the judiciary had given its final verdict.

“In the past three months, the same stories aimed at smearing the reputation of the person of the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi have been sponsored and planted in both traditional and online media platforms.”

“The ultimate aim of these job seekers is to demarket the amiable Deputy Governor as the Ondo State gubernatorial election gets near. These hirelings and their sponsors do have the sympathy of Agboola Ajayi. However, it’s not too late for them to face the reality that no one can curse a man whom God has blessed.”

PoliticsMoves By Aggrieved Aspirants To Dissolve Ondo APC Ward, LG, State Excos Rejected by Jimiyung(op): 12:48am On Jul 13, 2020
The move by 11 governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State to stop the indirect primary for the party primary has met a brick wall as Governor Bala Muni led National Caretaker Committee turned down the request.

It was gathered that aggrieved APC governorship aspirants like the Executive Director, Engineering and Technical Services, Niger/Delta Power Holding Company of Nigeria, Engr Ife Oyedele; Chief Olusola Oke and former Deputy Clerk of National Assembly, Mr. Olayide Adelami are now pressurising the National Caretaker Committee Executive Council to dissolve the Executive Councils of the party from the ward to state level to pave way for the election of a three-man Adhoc delegate that would vote during the indirect mode of primary scheduled to hold July 20.

It was further gathered that the request by the aggrieved aspirants, according to a source among the aspirants, has also been turned down because time was already against such a move.

The party national Caretaker committee need at least 21-day to notify INEC on whatever decision to be taken in respect of the primary election, a constitutional provision that can no longer be met.

Four of the Aspirants were also said to be in Lagos on Saturday to see an influential party leader to impress it on the National Caretaker Committee of the party on the need to either adopt direct primary or dissolve the current executive of the party to pave way for the election of adhoc delegates to vote during the primary.

The aspirants, according to one of them, were unable to meet the former Lagos state governor.

The aspirant said: “Unfortunately, we met a brick wall in Abuja. We were also unable to meet our leader yesterday in Lagos. We were told that the party had already communicated the decision to use indirect primary for Ondo to INEC since the reign of Adams Oshiomole as the party national chairman. It is now beyond their power. The constitution is against our advocacy. “We are now pursuing the dissolution of party Excos from the state to the ward level because the faction of the party recognized by the National Caretaker Committee and INEC is under the control of the Governor. So if we go by indirect primary, it will be a waste of resources, time and energy for us.

“The most unfortunate factor working agsint us is the 21-day notice needed to notify INEC that has exceeded. Unknown to us, the Adam’s Oshiomole led National Working Committee (NWC) had written INEC for Indirect primary. The hands of the Mai Bala Muni caretaker committee are tied”, the source said.

Ondo: APC Disqualifies Tinubu’s Ally, Segun Abraham

The Tijani Tumsa – led Screening Committee has disqualified one of the aspirants on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ondo state governorship election.

Though the chairman of the screening committee, Alhaji Tumsa, refused to mention the name of the disqualified aspirant while submitting the report of the committee on Friday, Daily Trust learned that the person was Segun Abraham believed to be a loyalist of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The chairman, who said the 12 aspirants were assessed based on their presentations, and education qualifications among others, added that the disqualified contender failed to meet up with the requirements set by the party.

He said: “We commenced the screening exercise two days ago. There were twelve aspirants in all and I’m glad to report that they all showed up for the exercise and we were able to conduct the screening within the two days stipulated.

“The committee decided that the aspirants be scored base on their presentations, educational qualifications, their commitment to the party, knowledge of the constitution, community service, manifesto of the APC, their team spirit and working experience.

“Of the 12 aspirants fit for the election, the committee has deemed it possible to qualify eleven of the aspirants to contest for the primary. We understand of course that the 12th aspirant has the option of appealing the decision of the committee.

“I will like to emphasize and to commend the aspirants who cooperated in no small measures for the success of this exercise. I will like to seize this opportunity to thank the party for finding us worthy to conduct exercise.”

The National Secretary of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Sen. John Udoedehe, while receiving the report, lauded the committee for what he called a diligent exercise.

Udoedehe assured the committee that the report would be transferred to the appeal committee for necessary action.

The aspirants who participated in the screening exercise were Rotimi Akeredolu, Joseph Olusola Iji, Odimayo Okunjimi, Olayide Owolabi Adelaml mni, Issacs Duerimini Kekemeke, Olusola Oke Alex, lfeoluwa Olusola Oyedele, and Olajumoke Olubusola Anifowoshe.

Others included Awodeyi Akinsehinwa Akinola Colinus, Olubukola Adetula, Dr Abraham Olusegun Michael and Dr Nathaniel Adojutelegan.

PoliticsAgboola Ajayi: Nine APC Cheiftains In Race To Replace Ondo Deputy Governor by Jimiyung(op): 11:37pm On Jul 09, 2020
By Emmanuel Oladesu Deputy Editor and Otabor Osagie, Akure

No fewer than nine chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State are lobbying to replace Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, who is facing impeachment charges before the House of Assembly. The gladiators, who are core members of Team Aketi, the political structure of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), are from the Ondo Senatorial District.

Those eyeing the number two position are: chairman of the Universal Basic Education Board and former Education Commissioner Mrs Oladunni Odu; Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) Gbenga Edema; former member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board and senatorial aspirant Lucky Ayedatiwa; Commissioner for Education and younger brother of former Governor Segun Agagu, Femi Agagu.

Others are: Deputy Chief of Staff Jimi Kuforiji; Mrs Olamide Falana and Commissioner for Water Resources, Yetunde Adeyanju.

A source said Ayedatiwa, Agagu and Odu are the strong contenders although some party chieftains are also rooting for the Finance Commissioner, Wale Akinterinwa

According to the source, the jostling may have altered the permutations for the selection of running mate for Akeredolu, who is seeking a second term.

Initially, some party leaders have suggested Dr. Paul Akinterinwa, his 2012 running mate for the job.

Party insiders also confided that some governorship aspirants from the South are also eyeing the deputy governor/running mate slot, following the adoption of the indirect mode of primary, which the governor is most likely to win.

They are said to be mounting pressures on credible party leaders who have the ears of Akeredolu to consider them for the slot.

The lobby for the deputy governor has intensified, following the commencement of impeachment proceedings against Ajayi by the House of Assembly. A party chieftain from the North District, who craved for anonymity, said: “all the lobbyists are from the Southern district and they have enlisted the services of trusted allies of Governor Akeredolu.”

The source added: “This is politics; you dont wait for the bullet to meet you, if you can identify it,and that is why we won’t rest until the deputy governor is impeached because we have credible evidence against him. “There are more qualified personalities in the South who are ready to take up the battle once Agboola is impeached. We cannot be dragged back by one man who has finished the party in the South because he was having his own agenda. “So, just like Abena(forme Secretary to Government Ifedayo Abegunde) who was replaced within 24 hours, once the man goes, the next deputy will be sworn in almost immediately,.

“The only unfortunate issue around the scenario is that, apart from lobbying, the gladiators are already locked in rivalry.”

The ruling party, which is silent on the jostling for Ajayi’s position, is maintaining a keen interest in the impeachment proceedings.

Ayedatiwa, the choice of the party leadership for the Senate for the 2019 elections, was dropped by the former National Working Commitee (NWC) of the APC. He is a close ally of the governor who is yet to be compensated. He is a committed member of the ‘Akeredolu for second term project.’

Agagu was Chief of Staff under his late brother. He is held in esteem by members of the State Executive Council.

Kuforiji, deputy chief of staff, is an associate of Ajayi. But, he refused to defect along with him to the PDP.

A chartered Accountant, the retired Assistant Commissioner of Police holds doctorate degree. A native of Abeokuta, Ogun State, his mother is from Igbotu, the birthplace of Akeredolu’s mother.

Princess Odu from Ikale is a two-time Commissioner. Her influence among the women folk is enormous and she has enough war chest. She is popular in the party and the state.
