BusinessRe: Every Single Item Is Being Sold @ N500 - Lagos by Jino(op): 2:07pm On Aug 07, 2008
The price of the items are still N500 each and the selection/variety was very impressive. Kudos to the owners as it just goes to show that there are still Nigas with hearts. I think people just go there all the time cos it was still as packed with customers as the first time I went there.

As for this shop, you have to visit it to believe it,

if you know the arcade then you should find it no prob.  The shop is inside the Arcade on the ground floor - do you live in Ogba?

Because my cousin said everyone in Ikeja goes there but they do not tell the Island people. Lol.

Hi everyone, just got back from Lagos and had to share this with you all.  Amazing!!! My cousin took me to a shop in Lagos where everything was N500.  I could not believe my eyes really, we got stuff from Mothercare (the labels and price still on), shoes, clothes and toiletries.

Nigerians are really amazing!!!  How can they sell stuff so cheaphuh? From the UK oh! not even China.  I really enjoyed the experience of shopping there but it got me really worried about my plans to open a shop in Calabar.  It will be impossible to compete with that sort of pricing.

Any business tips would be appreciated.  Are there lots of shops in Nigeria now selling at these cut-throat prices??

PropertiesRe: Calabar (virgin Land) by Jino(f): 9:54am On Oct 03, 2007
LondonCool you cannot be serious.  N400- N600K. You cannot even rent a flat in State Housing for that amount. Have you been to Calabar recently!!!!!!!!!!!!

[@ nettan

I recently got quotes of N3M for a plot @ MCC in Calabar.  Land on the outskirts will set you back N1M and that is in area that do not have roads etc yet.

Real Estate in Calabar is crazy,   and you are right Londoncool, the problem is supply.
PropertiesRe: Calabar (virgin Land) by Jino(f): 8:54pm On Sep 18, 2007
Hiya, not been back a while and still flogging the dead horse of retail space in Calabar.

akininNC:

I have been given quotes of between 400K and 550K.  I know the customer base in Calabar and I can tell you that it cannot support that sort of rental.  It is so annoying, one of the spaces was so small and attached to a fast food place - near High quality.  They wanted 550K PA.

Will post any interesting options I come across for anyone else who might be considering retailing in Calabar.
PropertiesShop/ Retail Space Needed In Calabar CRS by Jino(op): 4:40pm On Sep 12, 2007
I am looking for shop space in Calabar for a boutique.  Been in touch with some agents but the rent is incredible.  Can anyone help, contact details of reputable agents, or perhaps you have a suitable property.  Must be on Marian Road or IBB Way. thanks

New to the forum and very impressed by the comments. It is fantastic to see CRS being discussed with such enthusiasm, any dialogue is good. I would love to invest in the state and recently visited Yala LG. Have to say I agree with Londoncool, the lack of development is heartbreaking. It would take very little (some vision) to develop these areas and really impact on the lives of CRians. On the other hand, I agree with the comments about bars & restaurants (jobs for the youths). Surely, we can do more than "cook" and "serve".

Londoncool, have you considered real estate devs outside of Calabar? This is an area I am exploring and I am in discussion with Unionhomes to provide the financing.
