Hi All,

I trust you great! This is to motivate an individual out there.

Profile:

So I recently got my approval. All thanks to God. Inputs from this platform cannot be underrated as well.

Medicals was done upfront Oct. 26th, 2018
Application was submitted Nov. 16th, 2018
Biometrics followed Nov 19th, 2018.
Approval popped in Dec. 14th, 2018.
School: RMIT (AL1 Institution)

So; I simply submitted all documents required using the evidentiary document checklist tool. *Nothing Extra* Please, see link below.
https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/web-evidentiary-tool

In all, please, take time out in writing a very catching GTE (Statement of Purpose/Intent). This I believe have a great impact on one's application. Watch out for grammatical errors, wrong usage of words and above all, make sure you express yourself in your statement. Your passion and motivation driving you must be felt by the case officer *you must be articulate about it*. Thanks to @Nogara on this this one. He gave his input on mine.

Great to be part of this family. Please, never hesitate to buzz up if you need any clarification on your application. I am still learning; but will sure try my best in giving response to the best of my knowledge.

Cheers!

Visa grant with husband as dependent didn’t use an agent after lots of discouragement. We took the bold step of faith. Didn’t apply with d agent who help get d admission applied on our own I made my sop detail expressing myself as much as I could . Financial statement was above 15million.with two children and tie to home country and also returning to family business as a returns for the amount a.m. sending. Came as a shock am so happy . Plus don’t lie in anyways and didn’t contact the embassy before the grant to avoid looking desperate

Wow... so sorry about that... Now is the time to re-package your application and include enough strong tie reasons... take your time and re-process in the new year... Cheers...

Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by jiyde: 11:53am On Dec 05, 2018
There is nothing to worry about since you have applied to the school already.... however do NOT make same mistake when applying for your visa... tell them u have been denied and add the necessary supporting document... in ur case the white paper.... in your SOP you can further explain why you were denied 'IF' you are sure of the reason... In all, be completely honest with the VISA process... Best of luck..

Joshtrix:

Thanks for the response, I am yet to get admission decision though but I intend filling yes for the visa application. I hope a YES in the Visa application won’t reduce my chances on getting the VISA.

I WISH I CAN HEAR FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN REFUSED a US F1 VISA AND LATER GOT THE AUSTRALIA STUDENT VISA TO SHARE HOW HE WENT THROUGH IT.

I think you can only do Medicals upfront... cos there is a document you'll have to take along with u for the biometrics that you cannot get without starting the VISA application process or so... cant rem... maybe someone with a better knowledge can help out...

Cottyekundayo:

You have been on a freelance.
If you get queried on how you have engaged yourself since the end of the training;
My suggestion is that you prepare a good statement to explain your reasons such as you decided not to take up another full time role cos you waiting on a visa. Hence you may want to include evidence of your freelance work such as transaction receipts, contract documents, work schedule.. etc. All depends on you mate. I was a freelancer prior to my departure and I had same thought but was never questioned even after preparing those documents. . .

Hello people in the house... there is something that has been coming to mind lately and I have decided to seek for advice...

I resigned from my previous job this year Jan... went for a professional training between April and August this year... while applying for my VISA, I stated there that I had stopped working and currently just finished a training in August (I applied for VISA after that period)... now between August and Now, i have just been doing personal jobs...no official employment...

I am having a feeling that the DIBP could ask me for proof of employment or ask for what i have been up to since i resigned from my professional job in Jan...

Please guys, what is the best thing to say or do if that eventually comes up... NB: I submitted the certificate from the training along with my application... but what if they still ask for what I have been doing as the training wasnt a paid training... Please gurus in the house help...

If it is dependent Visa, abeg flex well... lol... it takes time.... thought it was study like us...

Bro... the anxiety don nearly finish for my body day by day...lol... I no dey put am for mind too much like before whey I never read people story for nairaland... just here hoping for the best... which other forum person fit read stories and see people wey dey wait, at least person go know when them start to dey attent to October people...

Lol... You get choice to no accept the terms and conditions? grin

God be with us...
Cheers bro!

IamNegan:

Abeg, no call them ooo....Dependent visa takes too much time now not only for Nigerian applicants. Check other Australian visa forums you will confirm this. Calling them might do more harm than good

We don't have a choice but to wait till we hear from them.

@jiyde, how the waiting game for that end cos for here d thing dey suck my blood. This one way processing time don change. If them ask you for new COE just know say ur visa don arrive.

Also, did you agree to the new terms and conditions that popped up on IMMI account?
Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by jiyde: 12:16pm On Nov 26, 2018
How many days for processing do you have on your IMNI account? Have you tried calling DIBP? ... when is your resumption date?

Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by jiyde: 9:27am On Nov 26, 2018
Submit what is asked of you... when it gets to your friends turn, they'll ask... There is no reason why the school would ask for those documents if not for consideration of admission... I was asked the same too when i applied to CQU...

Mma24:
Please am confused..

My agent made application for me to university of Tasmania last week Monday and this last Friday, the school wrote me..asking for SOP, evidence of employment and evidence of finance.

Kindly note that I submitted some of these documents initially except evidence of finance. I discussed with a friend who also applied to this school, he said he wasn't asked to provide these documents.. Tho he hasn't been admitted.

Please hope is normal. They give discount to all international students. I was thinking the finance documents should be provided after the admission and the discount is given.

Nice one...

Cheers..

justwise:

That is all its because there is no evidence to back it up, schools verifying students is not new anymore as they want to make sure that they are admitting genuine students
Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by jiyde: 10:41am On Nov 25, 2018
Okay lately, most schools started screening students credentials by asking for SOA and GTE Statement from students before giving them admission which wasnt the case some years back... I asked my agent for the reason for this and was told the embassy now urges unis to do a pre screening before giving admission to students , i 'guess' this was due to the increase in applications received at the DIBP with majority of them not meeting up with either the Financial or GTE requirements... so the DIBP wanted to be curb that and ensure most of the applications they are screening have passed through like a Pre assessment from the Universities before giving students admission to save them from having so many applications and denying most of them due to their not meeting the required criteria... Now this led to the stance of dropping the schools rating or sanctioning them if they have lots of students apply for VISA from that school and most of them dont meet up with the criteria, i think this has something to do with the L1, L2, L3 thing we see around... so most schools have buckled up with their admissions and rather give 5 students admission and be almost certain the whole 5 would get VISA grants rather than giving 15 students admission and just 5 pass the DIBP screening...

In all, neither myself or my agent work in the DIBP and all these informations could be just hear-says... so I'll advice people to either do their own findings or even just follow the normal protocols... nobody is an Island of knowledge, we can only share what we understand, its left for us to know what to do with the information...

Cheers!

justwise:

Please where did you get that info from?

Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by jiyde: 9:06pm On Nov 24, 2018
Most of them are scared to give you admission cos the embassy charges them for refused applications or it affects their ratings...(something of sort sha, not sure).... so most schools always want to be on the safe side... so people have resorted to hiding that information from the school just to get admission... however DO NOT make that mistake with the embassy... they'll surely find out...

Above all.. my advice:
Be honest with the school and pray they give you admission then everything gets better from there...if you try two or three schools and they deny you admission, then you know what to do cheesy

Humble11:
Please if you have been denied visa in other countries like usa or Uk. Is it okay to say it while applying for admission in Australian schools. Will it affect chances of being admitted in the school?

Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by jiyde: 11:49pm On Nov 23, 2018
YES, it is the same medicals for VISA...
For the second question, go to the IMNI Website and look at the checklist of documents required.. they might have updated the list, so check yourself... it should be under VISA category on the Imni website...

swaystunna:
Hello house.. after fulfilling my GTE criteria the school has asked me to proceed to pay tuition; my agent is saying hes going to book me for medicals also.. my question is..is it the same medicals for visa application? And those that recently applied for visa aside from your documents and sponsor document, what other documents do you advise on submitting ? Thanks.
Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by jiyde: 5:16pm On Nov 23, 2018
Medicals: did mine at IOM Ikeja.. you'll have to book an apointment with them before going tho... then there is another one on the Island 'Dr Fatai Williams' or so... in all, just google 'Australian Immigration Medical centers in Lagos' and follow the thread...

As for the Police clearance, you'll have to go to Alagbon Police Station in Ikoyi, Lagos... and ask for where you can get ur police character clearance done or ask for the ASP's office and talk to him like someone referred you to him wink.. I paid 5k and got it in less that an hour.

Cheers..

vikmeek:

Pls kindly recommend where I can do my upfront medicals and police clearance in Lagos,
Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by jiyde: 11:52am On Nov 23, 2018
Amen to that!!

Well, i paid for my PTE through my agent and they got my study material (Textbook and practice CD) sent to me... I read the whole book and did the practice tests on the CD...
I practiced for 3weeks (tho lazy practice till the last week where I had to buckle up)... in all sha, I did intense practice for just 5days. Went for the exam and thank God, the rest is history..

The exam is in sections... Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing...

In all, if you prepare well for it with their study materials, you'll scale through..

So to answer your question, it was a self study...

Hope i did small justice to your question..

PS: I already gave out my study material to a friend who wants to write the exam too... You can google PTE Test centers in Lagos or wherever you are to know where you can register for the exam... the study materials come with the fee you pay for the exam...

Cheers!

yese001:

Hello Jjyde,

Prayers as you await your TRV.

Please a quick one; Do you have study materials for PTE? Plus how did you go about yours?

Self study or tutorials? How long were you able to prepare for this?

Will love you to help share this experience.

Thanks fam.

Only your bank can tell you.... but it basically entails you filling a form and showing evidence of of fee... so take with u your offer letter indicating the fee and also a means of ID.. above all, different banks with different protocols...
