Akby: Argue mode activated lolz... So u want FG to pay 3trillion? For every agreement there is a buy-out clause. What is the buy-out clause between FG and ASUU. Don't just jump into conclusion without knowing how the game is being run. FG WOULD and CAN never pay ASUU 3trillion so forget it. Is ASUU the only problem we have in this country? What u guys don't know is the politics being played by strike. APC Vs PDP grudges and some fuelling underneath to bring down the PDP government just to pave way for the other party. See my guy, I'm not supporting FG neither am I for ASUU but we have to be factual about this ish. ASUU demands can never be met
o boy u still buy that ideas "politics" nawa for u, subsidy protest "politics" ASUU strike "politics" lack of security "politics" corruption "politics" even our admission process don turn to "politics" k let me ask u a question, what is the essence of leadership? o k ! to point out problem, not to solve it. that u own answer abi? even lets assume is a "politics" i mean ASUU strike, nah president mouth we (nigerians) suppose to hear that? o k , to confirm lack of his(GEJ) leader ability? o k, it seems u are right , all university lecturers are "APC" ok. my president never for once confuse me on his ability to lead this country. in every issue, he is at cross road always, why? ok APC has infiltrated his government as BOKO M did? pls this is not football contract, is agreement between 2 parties, there is not like" buy out clause"

Akby: How do I break this news this morning? *clears throat* after reading this please don't cry ooo lol

...Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) just demanded for the sum of 3 Trillion Naira to fulfil all the agreement entered between the Union and the FG. ASUU national chairman is from University of Ibadan and this the latest news for now.
My question is Nigerian budget for 2014 is roughly above 3 Trillion Naira and to put all that into 'tertiary institution' only is highly barbaric. So as it stands now guys start learning something ooo cos ASUU strike might continue till next year.
The painful aspect of it all is that after 'calling off' which remains unknown, u guys would have to wait for another 3months for us to complete our 2nd semester before u guys resume so it's a really really long way to go.
Hope I've not spoilt ur mood this morning. It's affecting me too so we are one in the circus. All I know is that Oluwa would always be involved.
Have a blessed day. #TeamUI
@Akin_Official
o boy, the language u used is crude 'barbaric' and it seems u dont understand the issue at all, total demand is 3tr which would pay installmentally within 4yrs and do u konow what it takes to enter to agreement willinglly? after u might have considered pros and cos and satisfied with the terms of agreements. ok the same govt that publiclly promised stable electricity, security, justice and employments and reneged on it, what do u expect of agreements made with just a unoion"ASUU"? let us call a dog the name it deserves, sentiments apart!!!

bloggernaija: These guys like the politicians are a bunch of jokers .
Lazy ,unthinking typical Nigerian .
In that organisation ,is there nobody there to do the maths that Nigeria cannot afford that much money ,even if the country was not corrupt?
That is about $7 billion in a country where over 50% are very very poor.
why niigerians like to view every issues with myhopic eye and leave the logic out of their thinking, Do know what it takes to enter to an agreements? the same govt that has accessed her resources and see thet see can afford the terms of agreement come to renege it again, what does that imply? sentiment apart, this is not done anywhere in the world and it has become the stick in the wheel of pregress of nigeria. the same govt that promised stable electricity, tranparency, security, and reneged on it, what do u expect?

Aiye Kooto Ojulari
What is the furero about 'independence Day celebration' all
about? Independence celebration amongst tears and wailing....
Independent in the face of frustration and hunger....what stupid
celebration when more than 50percent of Nigerians are living in
abject poverty and hopelessness?... What are we celebrating,
when our children are out of school and our security is not
guaranteed?! What celebration in the face of darkness?! Isn't it
better to be colonized and be safe than to be led by our own
brothers and be maltreated?! Instead of celebration, we should
be in a sober mood, we should be morning the death of those
innocent students killed by boko haram..we should be crying for
the future of this country....we ought to declare tomorrow as a
day to fast and pray for this nation.... What is to celebrate.? It
has being 53 years of directionlessness and 'anti-peopled'
policies.... It has been 53 years of monumental fraud and
impunity!!! Infact, 2Mao is supposed to be the beginning of a
powerful revolution in Nigeria! Aren't we tired of the inertness of
our leaders to our plights? For how long are we gonna sit down
while these wicked leaders loot our treasury to the last
kobo?! ...God won't come down to fight this battle for us....we
have to stand up for our rights and put a stop to this madness!!!
Good evening intellectuals!!!

jj9ice: ASUU to Jonathan: Media chat empty, less comforting
Posted by: Oseheye Okwuofu, Ibadan in News Update
14 hours ago
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday
criticised President Goodluck Jonathan media chat on the
country’s 53rd Independence Day celebration, describing it as
empty and less comforting.
The union said President Jonathan’s media chat has
succeeded in further showing Nigerians the clueless nature of
the leadership to solving pressing problems of insecurity,
corruption and the comatose education sector.
ASUU in a release signed by the Chairman of the University of
Ibadan Chapter, Dr Olusegun Ajiboye, titled: “Nigeria at 53: No
message of hope for Nigerians Yet,” said the hope that
Nigerians had to listen to practical solutions to the problems in
the country was dashed when they listened to the “empty”
interview which offered no solutions.
While picking holes in the President Jonathan’s chat, ASUU
bemoaned the quality of the nation’s leadership and its failure
to provide solution to problems affecting the masses, especially
the poor.
The union asked Nigerians to prevail upon “this government to
consider the poor and the children of the poor by giving the
needed and necessary attention to public education in Nigeria.”
ASUU said the presidential team needs to work on the
president to bring messages of hope and not dampen the
morale of the already dejected Nigerians.
He said: “Nigerians were all disappointed at President
Jonathan’s media chat on the eve on the 53rd independence
anniversary of the country. Many Nigerians expected their
President to come out with practical solutions and cogent
policy statements on urgent, burning national issues were
greatly disappointed at the drab media chat. The President
cannot be quoted on any of the issues raised during the
interview. Most of his answers were not only evasive but lame.
Critical issues, such as Boko Haram insurgency, lingering
ASUU strike were all treated with mere disdain by the
President. The closure of Nigerian universities for upwards of
three months received a lackadaisical treatment from Mr.
President.
“Nigerians were at sea when their President and Commander-
in- Chief was asked questions on one Boko Haram leader, and
the President could only replied that “I don’t know him”. Mr.
President, do you need to sit down in town hall meetings
before you know the terrorists inflicting lots of pains and
agonies on your people daily? Did Obama need to know
Osama bin Laden before he took decisive action to end his
reign of terror?”
