ETIQUETTES OF EID 1 - Doing ghusl before going out to the prayer. 2 - Eating after the prayer on Eid al-Adha: On Eid al-Adha it is mustahabb not to eat anything until one comes back from the prayer, so he should eat from the udhiyah if he has offered a sacrifice. If he is not going to offer a sacrifice there is nothing wrong with eating before the prayer. 3 - Reciting Takbeer on the day of Eid al Adha from the moment you leave your abode until the time Imaam commences the Eid prayer. "Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allahu Akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, wa Allaahu akbar, Allaah akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa Lillaah il-hamd" 4 - Offering congratulations: The etiquette of Eid also includes the congratulations and good wishes exchanged by people, no matter what the wording, such as saying to one another Taqabbala Allaah minna wa minkum (May Allaah accept (good deeds) from us and from you” or “Eid mubaarak” and other permissible expressions of congratulations. 5 - Adorning oneself on the occasion of Eid: A man should wear the best clothes that he has when going out for Eid. Also, he is allowed to put on perfume. With regard to women, perfume is not allowed. They should also avoid showing off their adornments to non mahram men. 6 - Going to the prayer by one route and returning by another. This is not compulsory but encouraged, as it is one of the sunnahs of Eid, provided that it can be achieved with minimal stress. |

http://thenationonlineng.net/new/ASUU-chiefs-allege-threat-to-lives/ASUU: no more dialogue with Suswan’s committee Posted by: Gbenga Omokhunu in News 7 hours ago Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) National President Dr. Nasir Faege has said the strike will continue. He said the union was ready to negotiate with any other body, besides the Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam’s committee . The Suswam committee, he said had nothing good to deliver. Faege said: “The strike continues even if government is threatening to do the worst. There is no more dialogue with government, if the 2009 agreement is not approved. But we are willing to dialogue with anybody towards meeting ASUU’s said agreement. That is the truth. “Our doors are open towards addressing these problems. If anybody invites us, we will be there. The only dialogue that we will not attend is that with the Suswam committee. ASUU has vowed not to listen to that committee again. The struggle is on and we are waiting and hoping that government will do what is right so that we will go back to our classes and start lecturing. “Many students have been calling me in support of the ASUU strike and they want government to listen to us and that we should not call off the strike until the 2009 agreement is met. The condition of the universities is nothing to write home about.” On the ‘no-work no-pay’ issue, the ASUU boss said: “The Federal Government has not been paying. That statement is not applicable now since we have been working without pay.” |

In a release signed by the chairman of the University of Ibadan chapter of the union, Dr Olusegun Ajiboye, entitled: “ASUU strike: Union leaders go underground,” the ASUU leader alleged that he had received some calls warning him about his role in the strike. Dr Ajiboye, who called on the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, to save the lives of ASUU leaders nationwide, said no amount of threat or clampdown on the union members will make them back down from the strike until public education is saved from collapse. According to him, this recent security threat has forced many ASUU leaders to go underground, alleging that many of them had had their phone numbers bugged. “Apart from the issue of finance, ASUU leaders are now being trailed all over the place. A majority of our union leaders have now gone underground while many have had their telephone lines bugged. Some are now living in fear of their lives,”he said. Ajiboye, however, noted that ASUU members were not security threat to the nation as against the impression being created by security operatives, adding that as a democratic nation, citizens were guaranteed freedom of association. He urged the Federal Government to leave its leaders alone and implement the agreements it reached with the union for normalcy to return to university campuses nationwide. “The position of ASUU is that Nigeria is a democratic country and citizens are guaranteed freedom of association. Members of the union are apprehensive for the lives of their leaders. We urge the government to leave our leaders alone. Our leaders are our servants, we are their principals, they report to us on all matters. Rather than chasing shadows, government is once again called upon to implement the FGN/ASUU 2009 agreement. Only this will bring members to their classrooms,” Ajiboye stated. Sources informed the Nigerian Tribune that ASUU executives at the University of Ibadan went underground shortly after last Thursday’s congress held at the premises of the institution while their phones were switched off. The University of Ibadan has released the results of the post- UTME conducted at the weekend for all applicants who made the university their first and second most preferred institution in the last UTME examination. The results showed that two candidates of medicine and surgery scored 83per cent to lead other candidates (7,064) who sat for the examination. 7,767 candidates were invited for the exercise out of which there were 703 absentees. The results further showed that 3,746 (53.3per cent) scored 50per cent and above while 3,318 candidates scored below 50per cent. The results also indicated that one candidate of educational management scored 15per cent in a statement by the University’s Director of Public Communication, Mr Olatunji Oladejo. Meanwhile, the exercise which took place on Saturday, 28 September, 2013, was successful as candidates have commended the exercise. The chairman, Committee on Modalities for the Computation of Results for the Admission Exercise (CMCRAE), Professor Emmanuel Ajav, noted that one of the challenges of the examination was the inability of some candidates to log on to the university’s website after making the necessary payment at the bank for further processing. But despite the failure of some of these candidates to log on to the university’s website to have their information captured, the candidates were allowed to participate in the exercise. While monitoring the exercise at one of the centres, the Vice- Chancellor, Professor Isaac Adewole, who expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination, made a case for the physically challenged candidates. He said they needed to be encouraged. http://www.tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/news/ item/23118-ui-releases-post-utme-results.html |
