NairobiA tanker carrying inflammable substances rammed into several vehicles before bursting into flames near Karai on the Nairobi-Naivasha Highway, killing 40 people and injuring dozens on Saturday.
Witnesses at the scene said the driver of the tanker lost control while going downhill and hit the other vehicle which created chain of knocks. The accident on the busy highway, some 80 kilometres west of Nairobi created a horrible scene.

Two survivors of the accident have been admitted at the Nairobi hospital; one in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and while the other is said to be in stable condition.
Four victims were taken to the Naivasha Mt Longonot Medical Centre while two were treated and discharged. Two others, according to the Clinical Officer at the facility Dalmas Otumba, were taken to Nairobi hospital for specialised treatment.
According to a preliminary police report released on Sunday morning, the truck (registration number UAK 519C) hit a bump before its driver lost control and rammed into a vehicle in front and other vehicles before it burst into flames.

“The fire spread very fast burning 10 other vehicles. A General Service Unit (GSU) Land Cruiser registration number GK B 961G was also burnt, killing the officers on board. Most bodies were burnt beyond recognition,” said the police report.

President Muhammadu Buhari, through The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has ordered all telecommunications service providers to increase the cost of internet data with effect from the December 1.

A call to MTN Customer Care line, 181, confirms this, as an auto responder informs customers clearly on what is to come.

The responder says: “Dear customer, please be informed that from the 1st of December 2016, all MTN data plans will be changed in compliance to NCC directive to all operators, thank you.”

In such a time like this, this news is not good enough for now because the nation is already experiencing recession, implementing this directive will only make life harder for Nigerians.

This is sad, NCC believes that this is one of the ways they can generate revenues for the Government. They know that we can’t do without buying data… so they decided to mandate all Telcos to increase their data price… hmm!

Nigerian Government through its agencies should not make life harder for Nigerians! Don’t be surprise that beginning from December 1st 2016, N1000 will only get you 500MB of data. The data you normally get 3GB for N1000 before will be history.

In short, all MTN users should call 181 self-help service number to listen to this announcement which will take effect from 1st of December. Other Network are working on theirs lowkey.

President Muhammadu Buhari, has condoled the government and people of Cuba over the death of Fidel Castro, the country’s longest serving President, who died aged 90.

In a condolence message signed by Mr Femi Adesina, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Buhari offered his deepest condolences to the Cuban President, Raul Castro and the people of Cuba over the death announced early today.

Raul is the younger brother and successor of the deceased.

In the condolence message on Saturday in Abuja, Buhari noted that “the legendary leader passionately served his people for almost half a century.’’

He expressed the sympathy and solidarity of all Nigerians as Cubans mourn the exit of ‘this remarkable leader”.

Buhari noted that Castro, against all odds, stirred uncommon development in sports, education and healthcare sectors of his nation, even to the benefit of other nations.

He expressed delight that Castro lived to see the improved ties between his country and the United States.

As a great friend to Africa, countries in the global South and the Non-Aligned Movement, Castro’s place in history is assured, given his sustained successful commitment and towering role in the liberation and anti-colonialism struggles in Africa,” he said.

NAN: The Group Managing Director, (GMD)Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation, (NNPC), on Friday, said the Federal Government will build 1,000 kilometres of pipeline from Agadam Niger Republic, to supply crude oil to Kaduna refinery.

The GMD made the disclosure to newsmen during a visit to the Kaduna Refinery Petrochemical Company Limited (KRPC) in Kaduna.

Baru said high-level contacts have been made with the Niger Republic on the possibility of importing crude from the country.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has made several contacts with the President of Niger Republic .

” We are talking with Niger Ministry of petroleum. We are also talking with the Chinese Company operating in Agadam .

Baru said some investors have shown interest to build another refinery of 50,000 barrels per day capacity.

” We are convincing them to come and build side by side with the refinery.

“The intention is to build around Kano but we think there is a greater synergy to what I have seen here. I am more convinced they will benefit from some of the utilities of Kaduna refinery.”Baru said.

A new report has revealed the alarming number of people who tested positive to the deadly HIV disease in Lagos.

It has been revealed that no fewer than 9, 579 people tested positive to HIV of the 616, 318 that attended the HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) awareness programme from January to June, 2016.

According to Vanguard, Dr Oluseyi Temowo, the Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA), made this known on Wednesday in Lagos.

Temowo spoke at a news conference in Ikeja to mark the 2016 World AIDS Day with the theme: “Hands Up for #HIV Prevention’’.

United Nations had in 1988 declared every Dec.1 as the World AIDS Day.

This is to honour AIDS victims and focus on issues surrounding HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome).

Temowo said that in 2015, a total number of 599, 560 people were counselled, tested and received results out of which 15, 311 people were found to be positive.

The LSACA chief said that 52, 803 people living with the scourge were currently on Antiretrovirals (ARVs).

Yes! Not because they are not intelligent, but because

6. Failure to arrive at the exams venue early
Tears droped from her eyes, I could remember vividly
she was a girl, tall and she spoke intelligently. All her
tears was in vain, all her pleas was wasted as the
invigilator was so tenacious in his decision. Futher
findings revealed that she was the best in her secondary
school who made history by recording 9A’s in the west
African Senior School Certificate Examination
(WASSCE ), but on that faithful day she was late to her
UME exams. That was how she failed JAMB.
It is so obvious that many candidates are seen doing
some print out on their exams day and this warrant their
lateness to exams. It is adviseable for candidates to do
all necessary things prior to the day of their exams. If
your exams center is in a long distance or in another
state, try to be there atleast a day before and get to
know your center.
7. Computer illiteracy
Yes we are in a computer a computer age where
computer and other computer related devices are easily
accessd, yet computer illiteracy still rocks among young
school leavers. Since 2014, Jamb had progressed from
the rostrum of PPT to the rostrum of CBT which made
way for the utilization of computers for the exams.
It is appaling that many candidates still cannot operate
this computers during exams and thereby failure comes
in. It is adviceable for can didates to undergo Computer
Base Training before the day of their exams.
8. Incomplete materials
Yes, this has possed a problem to many candidates. The
exams day is like an injury period which a simple
mistake can hurt for life. Before departing for the exams
hall check out for your materials such as Jamb print out,
Passports etc. Read the necessary instructions and
adhere to it. Where you are to bring a colour print-out
please don’t bring a black and white print out.
9. Deafness to attendance
You must be all ears while writing your exams. Are you
writing with your ears? Of course not, so candidates
have to pay adequate attention to attendance while
writing the exams. Your attendance indicates your
present in the exams and failure to answer to it means
that you did not write the exams.
10. Unconducive/unequipped exams center
One major thing that poses a threat to JAMB in Nigeria
is their poor and unequipped exams environment. These
have pose a psychological effect on many students. The
progression from PPT (Paper and pencil test) to CBT
(Computer Base Test) has not change Jamb’s poor
Examination Environment.
11. Misinformation
Many students are misinform about Jamb exams. They
are given fake information which has no relationship to
the afore mentioned exams. It is a known facts that are
many myths and conceptions surrounding the exams
and the exams body. All this should me taken with a
pinch of salt as many of them are rumors and not facts.

The Joint Administration and matriculation board has remain a major exams body conducting Universities matriculation examinations (UTME) in all the states of the federal republic of Nigeria. Since her inception, it has been many people’s Achilles hill as they can’t dance to the tune of the exams.

To worsen the whole case, post-UTME that gave students the second chance of getting admission was scrapped out by President Muhammedu Buhari led administration and JAMB was made the only exams body which conducts examinations for those going to the higher institutions.
