Thanks so much naira0: CMU is a no-go-area. More so CIS in CMU can be acquired online. For these two reasons, you must remove CMU from your subsequent US visa applications. I am speaking from experience. |

After using the information you gave me to calculate my GPA using WES calculator my GPA is 2.75/4...thanks so much bro lexychuks: You should replace the failed course grade with the newly passed grade. That's how WES calculates GPA. Also, your final 2 years grade carries more value compared to the other years, so if you did better then, your evaluated grade goes up. I would however advise that you just pay WES for the evaluation to be certain. The value I got using the free online evaluation was different (lower) compared to the GPA WES sent to me after their own evaluation. I hope this helps... |

Am doing that already...thank you for the information dipomania070: Bro i will suggest you look for schools first. Try Castleton University, Vermont if they are offering your program. If you have other requirements like GRE and the like it will compliment each other and i am sure you will get admited. Some schools offers conditional admision. Just take your time to make research. Dont be worried about your GPA. You will still see better schools to admit you. |

Thanks Sorelee: It took you 5 years to get your degree due to the extra year right? Then its 5 years for course duration.... Although one thing i am not sure about, is how the extra year grades would be calculated because i never evaluated my result using any external evaluation service... |

Thank you...I still have questions about the WES conversion. My course is 4years but I had extra year(repeated some courses) should I use 5years on the course duration? Or should I replace the failed course with the newly passed course after the extra year? I need information on this please Sorelee: Now that you know your cgpa in US standard, i will advice that you search on google for schools who will accept 2.59/4..... you will have to contacts graduate cordinators of the departments you will be applying too first to be sure, some schools offer conditonal admission with such low CGPA.... you can PM me for any additional assistance |

No error at all, i studied chemistry and I graduated 2014, 2-2 starts from 2.4 according to faculty of science handbook dipomania070: Bro what year did you grad and what department? Maybe there is a restructure in the grading system. I also grad in eksu. For years this has been the grading system:
4.5 - 5.0 First class 3.5 - 4.49 Second class upper 2.5 - 3.49 Second class Lower 1.5 - 2.49. Third Class 1.0 - 1.49 Pass
Hope there is no error in your transcript? |

After calculating with wes tools I got 2.59/4 Godsmercy11: This is my advice .... Since you have your transcript i will advice that you evaluate your cgpa to US standard using the WES Gpa calculator( check their website for it) see if you could get a 2.75/2.8 then streamline schools who will accept your gpa of 2.75/2.8 be sure that there are a lot of schools in usa that would accept such grades ... |

This is harsh...that someone had low GPA in undergraduate course doesn't mean that person is not bright or not brilliant and intelligent. We have guys that drop out from school and end up creating great things with great ideas. Don't mock or look down on any one with low CGPA. lockupman: Bros if I were you, I would go and restart bachelor degree again and make sure I make no less than 4.0 cgpa. Haba! It's second class lower(2:2) Humble11: 2.46 is a third class. Mehn I won't advice you to waste application fee in those schools cos they won't admit you with that grade and they don't require GRE for that chemistry. Don't waste your money |

Visa Denied Today 7/02/2019 Vo: Good morning
Me: Good morning
Vo: pass your passport and i20
Vo: which course do you want to study?
Me: Computer information system
Vo: why this course?
Me: My passion for ICT started when I was in the university to the extent I had to apply as an apprentice to a cyber cafe in school where I learnt alot on ICT, I learnt computer networking, network servers, computer processes, Excel, Microsoft word and also Nigerian company's and organisations are moving their business processes from manual to automated and for me to be relevant and valuable in this field I need to acquire technical skills so that I can develop business modules and business softwares that will revolutionize Nigerian business world. I hope to work with organisations like Andela in order to encourage upcoming business softwares developers and a means to give back to the society.
Vo: how did you know about the school?
Me: I once participated in an online Android forum at XDA developers, my senior advisor saw was impressed with my zeal and my contributions and asked me my plans in the future and I told him I want to go for master's in computer information systems then he recommended California miramar University to me, I made research about the school curriculum and the school environments and I saw the school has a flexible curriculum with approach in both practical and theoretical aspect of the course I want to study, and I also found out on Wikipedia that California miramar University is one if the top 10 universities in business education field. California Miramar university is located in California, the state with silicon value (world technology hub) I hope to look for my self an expert in silicon value that will mentor me in business software development and information security systems.
VO: who is sponsoring you?
Me: my mum, she is a health care professional and owns an IT consultancy firm and logistics company with office in London and Lagos Nigeria.
Vo: have you traveled out of the country before?
Me: No
Vo: are you married?
Me: No
Vo: Do you have a kid?
Me: No
Vo: you are not qualified for this visa, this paper will explain why...he passed me the blue paper

Thanks so much, am very grateful. This comment has boosted my moral and confidence. dipomania070: Why are people advising him to cancel his appointment. This is bad. He can always try and been denied a visa is not the end of his Journey. He can always reapply. Since he has book an appointment then let him go for it. What works for A might not work for B. Please lets be careful with the kind of advice you give to someone. Yes he can apply to another school if he is been denied. But let him try his Luck first. I am certain he is going to get it. Lets not discourage anyone
My opinion though. You dont have to accept it. Thanks. |
