Visit this link: https://www.gtbank.com/personal-banking/ways-to-bank/internet-bankingLogin to the internet banking portal with your internet banking login details, then go to transaction history, searchnfor the Visa fee transaction, tap or click print receipt, it will save the receipt as pdf, you can later print when you have access to printer. Tohajan: I did this but I didn't get the receipt, which I learnt must be taken along to interview. Although some digits were attached to the transaction details which I used as the receipt number while booking appointment.
Do I still have to find a way to get a printed GTB visa receipt? I mean is it a must I go to interview with the visa receipt? |

On point bro Brown2Green: STEM students have the advantage because their skills are sought after the most in the US. But you don't have to discourage people. Everyone has a different journey! My friend studying human resource management is currently interning at Microsoft. Yes! Microsoft.
So you want to say she should have stayed back here and dwell on her first degree that would have gotten her no where? I think this advice is for people planning to run into the streets. Because with a degree from the USA, there are a thousand and one opportunities waiting on a global scale. |

Boss...worst things are happening in other countries and the citizens of those countries doesn't speak ill of their country. Please Sir, let's mind our discussion here because the VOs are reading this thread and we might be sending a wrong signal to them. TWoods: The sentences in highlights are confusing to me. In one breath you say fraud is discouraged, but then admit that it is ok to commit fraud as our only chance at obtaining a US visa?
Perhaps that is why things never change for us? Because too many of us are ok with the end justifying the means... we are ok with fraud as long as it benefits us. Yet we complain that we are treated with suspicion at embassies around the world.
The US education is not designed for the rich, it is designed for Americans. Nigerians should design an education system that is affordable to its citizens. Oh wait, we can't! We've dishonestly stolen the money... all in the name of gawd of course. If there is one thing i am genuinely thankful to God for, it is not having to raise my children in a zoo where it is ok to lie with impunity. |

Use the name of the company or organisation that will give you the loan. amb001: For entity paying for trip on DS160, I put SELF even though I'm using a loan and receiving sponsorship from uncle/guardian. Am I correct?
Again, i put NO in "Have you made specific plans for trip?" Am I correct? |

Congratulations bro MasterforceII: Visa approved this morning at the Lagos consulate. Got to the embassy around 5:30am for a 6:30am appointment. Joined the queue, did my biometrics and proceeded Window 2 for my interview. My interview was very short. This is my transcript as I remember:
V.O: Good morning. Me: Good morning. How was your weekend. V.O: Very well. Can you pass your documents please? *passes documents and she examines them for about 10 seconds V.O: So How did you get to know about this school? Me: When I decided to apply to graduate school, I made research online about schools that offered research on grid integration of renewable energy resources and I came about Auburn University, amongst others. V.O: How many other schools did you apply to? Me: 8 V.0: Have you heard from all? Me: No. I haven't heard from 3 schools. V.O: How many schools have you been admitted to? Me: 3 schools. V.O: Can you name the schools you haven't heard from? Me: I haven't heard from Iowa State, Virginia Tech and RPI. V.O: Okay. Are you married? Me: No. V.O: Are you single? Me: Yes I am. V.O: Do you have any kids? Me: No I dont. V.O: Do you have any relative in the US? Me: Yes, an aunt. V.O: Where in the US is she? Me: She's in Louisiana. V.O: Congratulations, your visa will be ready in 3 days. You can pick it up at this location. You'll get a text from us when it is ready. Have a nice day.
Lol. To think I prepared all weekend to talk about my research and that wasn't even asked at all. Wasn't asked for GRE or Toefl scores or my funding. Felt rather anticlimatic as I was ready to answer questions about my research. lol. But regardless, I give thanks to God.
Grateful for this thread as it was very helpful in my preparation. Goodluck to everyone and see you in Trumpland or whoever owns the land in 2020. |

Hi sir, I sent a PM to you, I need to talk to you privately sir fairheart: As you already know, I'll personally advice you to remove Columbia University from the list. I'll advice you stick with Baltimore or opt for Salisbury. That you were refused twice says nothing about your school, but maybe because of the tuition. You can still get your visa on Baltimore I-20. But it would have been more favorable if you get a scholarship of at least small amount, or a GA before you reapply. Why not pick other schools that are more affordable and try secure scholarship? I know it's not easy, but you could still look for other schools and apply, and yes, for fall 2019. |

I sent you a PM bro bracelum: You're welcome!
In case you decide to wait for fall 2020 to get into a solid statistics, data science or analytics program, don't hesistate to buzz me privately for tips.
If you decide to go with Michigan Tech, I wish you the very best |

Thanks for the advice bro. I'm grateful. bracelum: Hi,
I think I saw your post earlier. Applied Statistics is a very good course because it leads to different interesting roles in the industry. However, getting that first job might be very difficult especially if you don't have prior experience in analytics, statistical programming and data science.
My worry is your school. I don't think it is wise to take a $50K loan (for 2 academic sessions) to your school in Michigan. If you want to take a loan, take a loan for a school that offers strong on-campus recruitment that improves your chances of landing a job.
The University of Michigan Ann Arbor has a solid data science program. If you want to break the bank for a degree, you should apply next year to that program.
I wish you the very best! |

I want to embark on my schooling project on my own, I don't want to involve my family because I don't want to depend on anyone for help with finances. orimahspence: Be ready to explain your plan of loan repayment |

Hi fams, I am grateful for all your contributions on this forum so far, I really gained a lot from you guys. How I wish I had known this forum before now I wouldn't have fallen victim of red flagged school processed for me by agent. I want to ask a question bothering me and I need the input of experience individual here. Does it worth it to take a 25k dollar loan per academic year to pursue masters in Applied Statistics at the United state of America?
I was offered admission last week and I applied for Mpower Loan and was conditionally offered the loan but I haven't processed the loan further because I need the advice of experience friends here on Nairaland.
Thanks in anticipation for your advices. |

Hi guys, Michigan Technological University offered me admission to study Applied Statistic but no funding and I tried applying for Mpower loan to offset part of my tuition fee and I have been conditionally accepted for the loan. I want to ask if it is advisable to take loan for masters in Applied Statistics. |

Hello house... I got the the email below from the admission enrolment department of one of the schools I applied to.
The MS in Cybersecurity admissions committee reviewed your application file and were impressed with your candidacy. However, at this time in the admissions cycle, we will need to add your application to the waiting list. Note that more spots may become available, so we will notify you of an update with your admissions status as soon as possible. Please let me know if you have any questions"
Please should I still put my hope on admission in this school or forget about admission and move on? |
