The Nigeria Bulletin - Uproar As Airtel Moves To Stop All Non-blackberry Devices From Using BIS This Was Published on The Nigeria Bulletin The message in itself is quite self-explanatory. Android and iPhone users in Nigeria know that Airtel's Unlimited Blackberry plan works on their devices as well, and that while it may be unlimited on a BlackBerry, non-blackberry users graciously get 2GB for a subscription of N1,500. I say 'graciously' because other network providers are not so 'lenient' on non-BlackBerry users. The average cost of 1.5 GB on most networks is N3,000-N3,500, and 3GB costs N5000-N6,500, and Nigerians have been lamenting that this price is not friendly on their pocket. So, it is easy to see why, upon discovering that Airtel's BIS plan of N1,500 gives non-BlackBerry devices 2GB of data, there was a mass-porting to Airtel, and everyone enjoyed 'subsidized' data for several months... ...Until today when people received the SMS above informing them that the "subsidy" was going to be removed by December 3rd, 2013. ...AND TWITTER CRIED I logged on to Twitter afterwards to see people feeling very distraught. Some people were making some hilarious predictions that Instagram (that photo-heavy application) will see less frequent uploads with Airtel's ban on its BIS data plan on Non-Blackberry phones, while some people suggested that upcoming musicians will 'harass' people a lot less with links to their uploaded songs. Some people cried out in anger that Airtel will regret its actions, lamenting that Airtel's data speed wasn't all that great in the first place (apparently, they had been staying on solely for the cheap rates) and now that it was gone, they would 'port' to a more reliable and efficient network. Internet photos and memes were soon flying in no time, too. IRATE CONSUMERS: THREATS OR GUARANTEE? Pained Airtel subscribers have begun making predictions that this fresh move by Airtel will lead to the toppling of the network provider, as it is about to lose a lot of subscribers. Online Airtel users threatened to burn their SIM cards, come December 3rd, while others said they would port to neighboring networks. A few said that Airtel's move was a poor business strategy and that it would not end well. http://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/uproar-as-airtel-moves-to-stop-all-non-blackberry-devices-from-using-bis-photos.24178/#.Up-gTieASiY |

Taking a critical look at the new AIRTEL upgrades; the AIRTEL BIS will still work as usual on all platform, but I don’t think you can extend your bis expired date anymore with bonus MB or paid MB as usual. The list of accounts are specifics and assigned to their route, and any MB are channeled to their appropriate account. Find below the new list of airtel account. MA (Main Account) Account balance A1 (Account 1) A2 (Account 2) Bonus A3 (Account 3) A4 (Account 4) A5 (Account 5) A6 (Account 6) A7 (Account 7) A8 (Account 8 ) A9 (Account 9) A10 (Account 10) BIS all this account are on their own, they cannot and do not add up together as it use to be before where you can use airtime trick to combined them together to boost or extend your expiring MB date. With all this, I still think the BIS will continue to work as usual in all platform e.g android, windows and symbian phones. The mistake, linkage or loopholes the AIRTEL NG is after has been corrected by the new upgrade, which is the extending of MB together in single account. All this is a deliberate act to increase internal revenue by way of allowing all MB and account to speak for itself and not adding up, mixed up or working together. now they operate separately. Any add up or extension will be done within it own assigned account, Thanks for your understanding |
still blazing. even faster. you guys are too quick to exhaust and break your sim |
airtel is bleezing fast right now. it seems since the current banned news many people have leave the network. the network have more free space now and is very cool. is anybody experiencing this? or what do you think? |

Most Powerful Militaries in Africa When it comes to the military strength of all African countries, the keywords to consider are “not enough information.” The Global Fire Power ranking, or GFP, measures countries’ military strength and assigns a power index number in order to compare them to other countries. Many factors are taken into consideration, and smaller countries can compete with larger ones due to points given for refinement and technological advancement. Just seven African countries are ranked by the GFP. An inadequate amount of information is available to compare other countries that are not included. Based on available information, the following countries represent the most powerful militaries on the African continent in 2013, according to GlobalFirepower.com. Numbers reflect each country’s power index, derived from a unique algorithm developed by GFP. A perfect score is a 0.0000. The lower the number, the stronger the military, and bonuses and penalties are added to country scores as needed. - See more at: http://afkinsider.com/30022/powerful-militaries-africa/?utm_source=taboola&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=widget&utm_campaign=afkInsider.desktop.africa#sthash.XZFGtixg.dpuf 7. Libya – Power Index: 1.8428 The strength of Libya’s military comes mainly from its large cache of equipment, despite a relatively small number of active troops. Further hampering Libya’s abilities is the continuing violence and unrest stemming from the revolution begun in 2011 which has yet to see a stable government emerge from it. Regardless, the country still has available 2,500 armored fighting vehicles, 500 tanks, 600 towed artillery pieces, 6,500 logistical vehicles, and much more. 6. Kenya – Power Index: 1.6237 Kenya has established itself as a vital participant in international peacekeeping missions, and is able to do so due to a high merchant marine strength and an enormous labor force – resulting in high available manpower. Though it doesn’t possess as much of its own equipment, its role as a member of international teams allows the Kenyan military to share resources with other countries, strengthening its own capabilities at the same time. 5. Algeria – Power Index: 1.4107 As Algeria has a large maritime border, it has developed all of its military capabilities to an impressively modern degree, including its land, sea, and air forces. Algeria’s active frontline personnel numbers more than 127,000 troops and it has nearly 2,000 armored fighting vehicles at its disposal. Algeria also has the added benefit of its own oil reserves, allowing it to use its own fuel to power tanks, aircraft carriers, naval vessels, and more. 4. Nigeria – Power Index: 1.3441 Due to its size, it’s no surprise that several hundred thousand troops comprise the Nigerian Armed Forces, through its army, navy, and air force. Like Algeria, an abundant domestic oil supply eases the financial burden to be involved in military conflict, and it has more than 1,400 armored vehicles, 360 tanks, and 6,000 logistical vehicles at its disposal, as well as nearly 300 aircraft and 25 high-powered naval vessels. 3. South Africa – Power Index: 1.2582 As it hasn’t been embroiled in an international military conflict for some time, South Africa uses its highly advanced military for more peacekeeping and international cooperation purposes. Its aircraft and naval vessels are notoriously well-equipped with the latest technology, and though the country has less than 100,000 active frontline personnel, it has the capabilities and manpower for much more. Add to that a vast array of land system technology, and the South African military is indeed a force to be reckoned with. 2. Ethiopia – Power Index: 1.1725 As a landlocked country, Ethiopia has focused its resources on developing its army and air force to an impressive degree (the GFP doesn’t penalize landlocked countries for not having a naval force). Several hundred thousand personnel make up its current force, and they have significant numbers of land and air systems at their disposal. Furthermore, an enormous population that is fit for service allows Ethiopia to maintain the capacity to turn out an even larger fighting force, and gives the country one of the greatest militaries on the continent. 1. Egypt – Power Index: 0.7569 Egypt is put over the top with regard to military strength due to the sheer size of its armed forces. Nearly 500,000 personnel serve on its active frontline force, far surpassing all of its African neighbors, as well as its nearly 10,000 armored fighting vehicles, 60,000 logistical vehicles, 900 aircraft, and large oil reserve from which to draw. Again, the military has been somewhat undermined in the wake of the Egyptian Revolution, but some argue that its increased role in government has made it stronger than ever. Whether or not this is a cause for celebration or concern will remain hotly debated for some time to come. |

aubomeyangp: You echo my thoughts. Nigerians and our funny way of thinking.... There's no doubt that what the Gov did was wrong, we only saw that part of the clip. I know in Benin traders are continuously warned to stop selling their wares on the street. The Gov was angry and over-reacted, that's a fact. It's also a fact that the woman broke the law. Or are you guys saying if I'm an orphan I should go about breaking the law, then when I'm caught I should start crying saying I'm an orphan??shut the f uc. k up. that woman was not selling on the road side. no body we sell on that mission road. she was only waiting for a commercial bus to enter. |
zaragoza: if this true, then i guess it's d best plan for Android for now.is not true, the 1.5gb bonus is only valid for 3weeks. if not used up before 3weeks they will wipe whatever is left there. airtel is still the best only if you have got BB to backup with your android. two phones i mean BB and android device. |
look here everybody, i am in Benin city, but locating that woman will not be that easy, i know the scene happened in mission road and she must be heading to new Benin market on seeing the position from where they stand anybody in Benin city can easily know that that woman was waiting for a bus that will take her to new Benin market direction. the only way now is except one need to go to the local media. e.g. radio or tv station. otherwise except someone who already know her before hand then happen to come across this thread. anyway i will still try my best to ask around. |
