This act is totally unacceptable, the kano state government should be sued Nigeria is not an Islamic country more so we have the right to live and transact legitimate business any where in Nigeria and beer business is one of such.Kano state is one of the sates that benefits most from VAT collected from beer business. if the Muslims in Kano or any part of Nigeria agrees to be guided by His bah then so be it but Non Muslims should not be disturbed. We say no to slavery of any form or is the Kano state Governor is trying to unfold his hidden Agenda? Nigerians please note this man(the Kano state Governor)
Beer and Cigs are destroyed. i guess, thats just their way of life. But its not ours!!! When are we going to quit giving these peoples anything. Anything we give them is a 100% waste of money. We have so many better things to do with our money. You know, the money that we dont really have. These peoples dont like us, In fact they hate us. Giving them money is like turning on your shredder and just throwing money into it ....

ADAM OSHIOMOLE has perform well for his past 4 years, but this current tenure we have not seen any meaningful achievement, he is just living on his past glory, compare to whats on ground and on the media, i would say its over hyped on the media from an edolite born in edo, so admam oshiomole is a deceiver everybody knows him well. and that's why i recommend a single tenure so that once you are through for 4years you go back to your village where he come from, two tenure is a waste of public funds.

Politics › Experts Commend CBN Over Plan To Change Naira To Paper Notes by Joel3(op): 8:49pm On Nov 28, 2013
on november 27, 2013 at 4:44 pm in business Lagos – Some financial experts on Wednesday commended the CBN on its plan to change naira notes from polymer to paper notes in second quarter of 2014. They said in Lagos that the plan was a good decision, but long over-due. NAN reports that the polymer notes were first introduced in 2007 with N20 denomination and later in 2009 with the N5, N10, and N50 denominations. Mr Muda Yusuf , the Director-General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), said that the decision was well intended. He said that it was an error on the part of CBN to have produced polymer notes. Yusuf urged the CBN to be cost conscious in the production of naira notes, saying the polymer notes lacked quality as they faded easily. He also advised the CBN to ensure that the new naira notes would have longer life span for them to stand the test of time. “I think there is quality issue with the polymer notes because they fade so fast. “If you examine some of the polymer notes, you will be struggling to read what is written on them. “So, I think it is a better decision because the quality of the polymer is so poor and it was an error for CBN to have opted for the use of polymer notes,” he said. Mr Harrison Owoh, the Managing Director, HJ Trust and Investments in Lagos, said: “I wonder why it took the CBN a period of six years before it detected the flaws in the polymer notes”. Owoh said that the move by the CBN to phase out the polymer notes might be politically inclined, adding that the CBN had been “foot dragging” on the issue for long. NAN reports that Mr Tunde Lemo, Deputy Governor, (Operations) at CBN, on Nov. 21, said that Nigerians would be handling a new generation of naira notes by second quarter of 2014. He said that the bank had earlier announced to the public that it would change naira from polymer to paper and that all the notes would not be withdrawn at the same time. “Nigerians will be having new generation notes in paper in the next few months. “We will wait until the notes wear and tear. When they wear, and they travel back to Central Bank, of course they will be re- issued,” he said. According to him, the life cycle of a note in Nigeria is between six months and a year and the CBN took that decision six months ago. “I reckon that in the next three to six months you will begin to see these denominations re- appear in paper.” (NAN)

Politics › Pakistan Charges Doctor Who Helped Find Bin Laden With Murder by Joel3(op): 5:02pm On Nov 23, 2013
Authorities in northwest Pakistan have charged the doctor who helped the CIA find Osama bin Laden with murder and fraud, officials and a defence lawyer said Saturday.

"A murder and fraud case was registered against Shakeel Afridi this week after a tribal woman accused him of killing her son," a senior government official in Peshawar told AFP.

Afridi's lawyer Samiullah Afridi confirmed the charges, which come some three months after his conviction for treason was overturned.

Afridi was recruited by the CIA to run a fake vaccination programme in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad in hopes of obtaining DNA samples to identify Al Qaeda chief bin Laden, although medics never managed to gain access to the family.

The doctor was arrested after US troops killed bin Laden in Abbottabad in May 2011.

Islamabad branded the raid a violation of sovereignty, and Pakistan's relations with the US fell to an all-time low.

In 2012 Afridi was convicted of treason over alleged links to militant group Lashkar-e-Islam, under the tribal justice system of his home district of Khyber, part of Pakistan's semi-autonomous tribal belt

He was sentenced to 33 years in jail and fined $3,500. Angry US politicians saw the sentence as retaliation for his role in bin Laden's capture, and last year threatened to freeze millions of dollars in vital aid to Islamabad.

In August, his sentence was overturned and he now faces a retrial.

Afridi's lawyer Samiullah Afridi, who shares his client's tribal name, told AFP on Saturday that the new charges against the doctor were "strange", as the death of which he was accused occurred six years ago.

"How strange it is that authorities registered these cases after six years," the lawyer said, adding that he will defend his client in all the cases.

Naseeb Gula, from the northwestern tribal district of Khyber, accuses Afridi of killing her son Sulaiman Afridi, who also shares the tribal name, in 2007.

She said the doctor operated on her son three times for appendicitis, but that he died after the operation.

She also accused Afridi of fraud, saying he was not authorised to operate on her son because he was not a surgeon.

Under the tribal justice system, Afridi faces a life sentence if convicted in the murder case. Punishment for fraud is seven years in jail, his lawyer said.

"These new charges are just delaying tactics to keep him in jail as much as possible," Samiullah Afridi told AFP.

A hearing has been fixed for December 20 in the main jail in Peshawar, Afridi's lawyer said.

It was decided to hear Afridi's case inside a jail due to security threats, according to a letter written by officials.

Lashkar-e-Islam, the militant group in Pakistan's Khyber district that Afridi was accused of having links to, and the Taliban have both threatened to kill him.

Authorities in Peshawar, where Afridi is being held away from Taliban and other terror suspects in jail, have demanded several times that he be transferred to a more secure prison.

An official letter seen by AFP and sent to the prison authorities in Peshawar confirmed the registration of murder and fraud cases and asked officials to make arrangements for a hearing.

"The accused (Shakeel Afridi) should not be produced in this court due to security reasons," said the letter, sent by a top official in Khyber.

"His case would be heard in Peshawar jail premises," it added.

Lashkar-e-Islam, led by warlord Mangal Bagh, is a militant organisation feared for kidnappings and extortion in Khyber, where Afridi worked for years as a doctor.

Afridi is the main tribe in the Khyber district.

Business › Weather Presenter Fulfils World Cup Wager By Stripping Naked by Joel3(op): 8:32am On Nov 22, 2013
French TV star Doria Tillier said she would present the weather in the nude if her country qualified for the World Cup – and she is a woman of her word (sort of).

Tillier, a weather girl for the Canal+ TV network in France, had made the promise to call the weather 'à poil' (in the buff) after Les Blues lost the first leg of their World Cup play-off 2-0 in Ukraine.

No European national team had ever overhauled a two-goal play-off deficit before, so it seemed a safe-ish bet for former model Tillier, 27.

But a rip-roaring second leg in Paris saw France win 3-0, sealing their place at the finals in Brazil, and ensuring that her fans would get an extra perk to qualification.

Doria obviously didn't want to go starkers - when France made it 2-0 on the night, equalising on aggregate, she Tweeted: "F***. 2-0 to France. I'm starting to get stressed..."
