PoliticsRe: Recession: Kemi Adeosun Assures Nigerians, says capital investment is key by Joel3(m): 2:19pm On Sep 01, 2016
here is the coup speech after buhari was kicked out.
The country is fertile for military coup once again,
you will all agree with me that history is repeating itself.

The coup speech that overthrew Buhari on August 27, 1985

I, Brigadier Joshua Nimyel Dogonyaro, of the Nigerian Army, hereby make the following declaration on behalf of my colleagues and members of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Fellow country men, the intervention of the military at the end of 1983 was welcomed by the nation with unprecedented enthusiasm.

Nigerians were unified in accepting the intervention and looked forward hopefully to progressive changes for the better. Almost two years later, it has become clear that the fulfillment of expectations is not forthcoming.

Because this generation of Nigerians and indeed future generations have no other country but Nigeria, we could not stay passive and watch a small group of individuals misuse power to the detriment of our national aspirations and interest. No nation can ever achieve meaningful strides in its development where there is an absence of cohesion in the hierarchy of government; where it has become clear that positive action by the policy makers is hindered because as a body it lacks a unity of purpose. It is evident that the nation would be endangered with the risk of continuous misdirection.

We are presently confronted with that danger. In such a situation, if action can be taken to arrest further damage, it should and must be taken. This is precisely what we have done. The Nigerian public has been made to believe that the slow pace of action of the Federal Government headed by Major-General Muhamadu Buhari was due to the enormity of the problems left by the last civilian administration.

Although it is true that a lot of problems were left behind by the last civilian government, the real reason, however, for the very slow pace of action is due to lack of unanimity of purpose among the ruling body; subsequently, the business of governance, has gradually been subjected to ill-motivated power play considerations.

The ruling body, the supreme Military Council, has, therefore, progressively been made redundant by the actions of a select few members charged with the day to day implementation of the SMC’s policies and decision. The concept of collective leadership has been substituted by stubborn and ill-advised unilateral actions, thereby destroying the principles upon which the government came to power.

Any effort made to advise the leadership, met with stubborn resistance and was viewed as a challenge to authority or disloyalty. Thus the scene was being set for systematic elimination of what, was termed oppositions.

All the energies of the rulership were directed at his imaginary opposition rather than to effective leadership. The result of this misdirected effort is now very evident in the country as a whole.

The government has started to drift. The economy does not seem to be getting any better as we witness daily increased inflation. The nation’s meager resources are once again being wasted on unproductive ventures. Government has distanced itself from the people and the yearnings and aspirations of the people as constantly reflected in the media have been ignored.
This is because a few people have arrogated to themselves the right to make the decisions for the larger part of the ruling body.

All these events have shown that the present composition of our country’s leadership cannot, therefore, justify its continued occupation of that position. Furthermore, the initial objectives and programmes of action which were meant to have been implemented since the ascension to power of the Buhari Administration in January 1984 have been betrayed and discarded.

The present state of uncertainty and stagnation cannot be permitted to degenerate into suppression and retrogression. We feel duty bound to use the resources and means at our disposal to restore hope in the minds of Nigerians and renew aspirations for a better future.

We are no prophets of doom for our beloved country, Nigeria. We, therefore, count on everyone’s cooperation and assistance. I appeal to you, fellow countrymen, particularly my colleagues in arms to refrain from any act that will lead to unnecessary violence and blood shed among us. Rest assured that our action is in the interest of the nation and the armed forces. In order to enable a new order to be introduced, the following bodies are dissolved forthwith pending further announcements: (a) The Supreme Military Council (b) The Federal Executive Council (c) The National Council of States.
All seaports and airports are closed, all borders remain closed. Finally a dusk to dawn curfew is hereby imposed in Lagos and all state capitals until further notice. All military commanders will ensure effective maintenance of law and order. Further announcements will be made in due course. God bless Nigeria.

we all knows its a mistake due to tension. but when buhari was dragging power all this while and allowing his loyalist to be killing voters and youth cop members. what was he up to all this while? is this what he wanted to offer Nigeria?? the truth is he planned to islamized the country from all attempt the churches have seen so far.

it is all the prayers from all Nigeria churches that is worsening this government conditions. they are all praying for God to scatted his plans and his remover .

Nigeria can print naira you cannot print dollars.

All the naira Jonathan printed during for elections are still in circulation.
That is before all the naira printed during the oil boom .
You cannot just dump more naira into an already naira infested economy.
All it will lead to is more inflation.

What Nigerian needs even more than diversification, is a domesticated economy.
An economy in which your

1 Milk comes from a Nigerian diary.
2 your chicken comes from a Nigerian poultry
3 Cement
4 Roofing sheet
5 tomatoes paste
6 petrol etc
Yas long as the producers' priorities are not baking money in Swiss accounts and buying properties in London.
The Nigerian economy has to find her true level first of of all. All those MINT talk na wash.
You cannot expect to be OK if you are depending on the same 2 million barrels( now 1.5 Mil) of crude oil today like you had 30 years ago, even though your population has doubled.
I know all that. and you are not answering my question. the billions they made from corruption and sta? atleast can they start up local projects. with that?

you are still speaking chinese, simple question, how does MMM make their own profit since they don't accept those money, rather people send this money to each other?
this is how it works..

if you help someone. that amount let say N50k. this 50k will enters your mavro account. and it grows at 30% a month. at the end of 30days it will be N70k. so if you request for help. someone will help you with the N70 cash out. the person that help you with 70k another person will help that one at 30days. then u too can help another again and again just like that.

The question is simple, MMM gives you 30% after a month? Even no bank can give you that high ROI(return on Investment) Now how do they make their own profit? i am just curious
read the ponzi scheme.

the money is a fake liquidity. and not capital. everyone knows liquid investment is of high risk unlike capital.
as long as people don't cash out the same time it will remains. just like bank if everyone withdraw their money from the bank the bank will collapse. but that of bank they goes into capital investment with people's money to make profits.

but mmm stays idle doing nothing that makes it a perishable liquidity.

Mr man what are you guys creating wealth from? It's a textbook example of a Ponzi scheme and a weak one at that..have you heard about the perpetual motion machine concept ? That's what this is ..a gathering of very dull people who are desperate to create wealth from doing absolutely nothing till they get scammed
shut up. as I said before it's not a scam.

it's a simple logic. but it's a threat to our banking sector and the economy. the money is in circle between the banking chain and growing rapidly for doing nothing. it will hurt down our very own economy like recession.

the prosperity is a fake prosperity.

So far so good what benefit has the fellow Nigerians gotten from the government?? What MMM has done to the life of Nigerians, The government haven't done that for years..... It is our Money, MMM clearly stated their Risks, we accept.. We weren't forced to join. Leave it for us its not Scam.... Infact our leaders are the Scammers cause we vote for them yet we the masses suffer while they keep embezzling our funds...
I would advice you read my post again. I am not against MMM or it participants. the threats or danger to our economy is that it collapse business activities.

money is no longer circulating. a circle of money is been going round from bank to bank. rather then capital projects to the economy.
InvestmentRe: SEC Warns Nigerians Of The Dangers Of MMM, Calls It Fraud by Joel3(m): 11:53pm On Aug 31, 2016
mmm is not a business organization or cooperate investment platform and therefore cannot be registered under any government monitory or tax laws.

mmm is a social organizations base under the platform of social help or donation. people help each other. and I think they made it clear that it's not an investment platform.

there is nothing like scam there the only thing there is that it will definitely crushed. it's not a business but circular donations. the ponzi schemes is investment platform. although the similarity is the same.

as long as there are new people joining and helping each other the thing will keep going round. the sad part is that it will cut down business activity in the country to some certain %. as people putting their money in the scheme.

how its going to crashed? when people stop joining or stop putting their money. then their will be less donor who want to help and high receiver who want help. then it will crashed.

PoliticsGarri Is Now Called Buhari & Groundnut Osinbajo In Kano City. - Guardian News by Joel3(op):
These are not the best of times in Nigeria.
Long before July 21, 2016, when the
Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun,
officially confirmed that the country was
‘technically in recession,’ it had been an
arduous battle for survival for citizens,
organizations and governments at all
tiers.

The first half of the year was rough.
In spite of government’s assurances,
Nigerians weathered the storm, bracing
the challenge of petroleum scarcity,
epileptic power supply amid increase in
electricity tariff, removal of subsidy on
petrol, hike in cost of food, goods and
services, unprecedented scarcity of
tomatoes, skyrocketing exchange rate of
the naira to a dollar, backlog of unpaid
salaries and mass retrenchment of
workers.

Government kept repeating that the tide
would turn once the 2016 budget was
passed and the second half of the year
would be better for the country and its
citizens.

President Muhammadu Buhari eventually
signed the budget on May 6, raising the
hopes of turnaround with the injection of
government funds across critical sectors
of the economy.

With four months left in the year, it’s a
stark reality of a depressed economy
staring Nigerians in the face as strange
things are reported daily.

Organized and petty crimes have been on
the increase, unsecured pots of soup have
become endangered species, sale of
human blood and organs for economic
reasons is rife, and frustrations have
given rise to rampant cases of domestic
violence, child abuse and suicide.

The hunger is so widespread that poultry
farmers confess to skipping meals for
their birds as the cost of feed has risen by
100 per cent.
.

Even in the president’s home state of
Katsina recently, there was a massive
scramble for unwholesome grain when
the truck conveying bags of the suspected
poisonous grains for destruction broke
down in a village.

When persuasion failed, authorities had
to engage the help of task force to
retrieve some of the poisoned grains in a
bid to avoid devastating consequences.
The new economic reality is affecting the
lifestyle of Nigerians.

Today, an exchange of pleasantries is
incomplete without the word ‘Change’ in
reference to the evocative slogan that
brought the present administration of the
All Progressives Congress (APC) to power.
The standard reply to any untoward
situation in the country is ‘Chanji’, the
street version of APC’s motto – change.

A public affairs commentator based in
Kano State, Aminu Muhammad Ofs, last
week recounted his experience of the
times, which has gone viral on social
media.

He said: “I was sitting with a guy who
sells tea when an elderly man came and
said ‘Give me ‘Buhari’s mixture’.
Without saying anything more, the man
was given some tea and small bread for a
sum of N40.

I was baffled, so I asked the seller what
the man meant by ‘Buhari’s mixture’. He
explained that it means tea without milk
plus a small loaf of bread.

“Again the next day, I stopped by a small
kiosk to get a battery for my wireless
computer mouse. While I was leaving, a
guy came who said: ‘Give me Buhari and
Osinbajo. I waited to see what he meant
and the seller handed him garri and
groundnut.

“I inquired from the seller, who
explained that garri is the street term for
President Buhari, Vice President Yemi
Osinbajo is groundnut, while Senate
President Bukola Saraki is sugar, slang
for the staple foods the poor can afford.”

Before now, Lagos State was often
referred to the city that never sleeps,
because it is known for its hustle and
bustle from dawn to dusk.
The wind of recession has blown all that
away.

The bustling nightlife is disappearing in
the Centre of Excellence, as the city
practically shuts down and becomes a
ghost town once it is 10p.m., even on
weekends.

Due to the harsh economic conditions in
the country, Nigerians have developed
some clever methods of dealing with the
tough circumstances.

According to a public opinion survey by
NOIPolls, released on August 10, 2016, 97
per cent of the respondents said the
recent economic realities have had a
negative effect on the wellbeing of the
average Nigerian.

Some survival methods discovered by the
polls include cutting down on household
expenses and luxury items, resorting to
prayers and hoping for a miracle,
engaging in subsistence farming,
adjusting feeding patterns in place of the
regular three-square meals.
A businessman, Emeka Obinna told The
Guardian that he has had to adjust the
feeding patterns of his family.

“I have a family of six, with several
other dependents. That’s the only way we
are managing to survive. No more three-
square meals. It is either breakfast and
dinner, or lunch and dinner. So, it is the
1-0-1, 1-1-0 or 0-1-1 formula I am
operating now with the little resources at
my disposal,” he said.
