EducationRe: CRU: A Case Study On How Universities Are Not Ready For Physical Resumption by Joenath: 11:43pm On Aug 23, 2020
For the past few months markets have been open how many deaths have you seen even with our lackadaisical attitude.
So it is reopening of school that would make things worse.
Have you been to some markets in Lagos at all or any major bus stop lately.

toluayomide:
What I am about to share is my firsthand account during my visit to Crawford university, Igbesa, Ogun State. I am a student of Crawford university and for the sake of humanity which few of us patriotic Nigerians still believe, I am writing this piece. Crawford university is a decent academic institution with adequate academic “structure” but the reality is that this school is grossly ill prepared for the resumption of physical learning and the accommodation of large gathering during this coronavirus pandemic. Below is the stack reality on ground!

On getting to the school gate, you instantly notice the total lack of concern for the coronavirus that is currently ravaging the world. The elderly security men whose age group are most vulnerable to this virus do not wear face mask or at the very least face shield. I mean this alone should give anybody a sense of how seriously Crawford university is taking the prevention of the entry of the virus into the school.

On getting entrance in Crawford university without observing any basic protective procedure such as hand washing or temperature check, I saw groups of shop owners chatting in close proximity, cleaners moving as a group, staff handing out files to each other and unfamiliar individuals who I suspect where on a causal visit to hand out coolers to unknown recipients, all of this happening without a single face mask in sight
On getting to the ATM machine, the situation turned out to be worse than I had earlier thought as visitors (who live around the school’s environment) have taken total control of the ATM with long queues devoid of the smallest form of social distance, most hanging around carefree without facial protection or any form of concern for a virus that as put the globe on high alert!

On moving through the school the reality really hit me hard, how do you tell students not to walk in groups for lectures or visit the restaurants in batches? how do you tell student to not “share gist’s” and socialize in groups? how do you tell students to remain in their rooms all day after leaving lectures and not visit others for an infinite amount of reasons? how do you tell students to not relate with lectures who leave off campus?
What should really scare anyone is that now when students are not on campus, there is so much laxity and lack of control over the situation, what then will be the situation when students resume? Expect for monetary motives and other personal gains, no person who as seen the reality on ground will agitate or demand for the physical resumption of schools.

If the security men at the entrance gate that meet every single person who goes in and out of the school fail to take this coronavirus seriously by wearing face masks, then we should know that this is an institution that will do everything to resume physical learning but fail terribly to the needful in terms of preventing the spread of the virus within its environment. Of cause, if there is to be an onsite inspection by the relevant body’s in regards to reopening of schools, you can rest assured knowing that every university in Nigeria will pass such inspection but this is far from the reality on ground when the public view is gone. The reality is that Nigeria is a great nation but the reality is that we are still a developing nation. We cannot afford to cough out billions and billions of dollars which should be used to cushion the after effect of this coronavirus and allocate such monies to the treatment of coronavirus patients when the situation can clearly be avoided. A problem shouldn’t be pointed out without offering solutions, now here are my solutions. All academic activities should remain online till a proven vaccine is made available. For the next three years, all scheduled school excursions should be banned, Industrial training should be banned for students of those years, National youth service corps should be banned for students of those years. Unusual times call for unusual measures.

Let it not be said for generations to come that it was under His Excellence, President Muhammed Buhari’s tenure that Nigeria suffered an unimaginable amount of death that has never been witnessed in the history of Nigeria. May Allah save us all.
It's obvious you don't know how long it is to produce a vaccine.
And if you are dreaming that Nigeria would get the vaccine when ever it is produced then you better wake up.
I guess you are doing well with your online course. We in the medical field are not faring so we'll with the online class.

it's not,Europe,Asia,India and south America have spiked in last 2 weeks...
What if I tell you we have X3 of the cases that they are reporting. They can't test everyone.
The recovery rate is very good.
Ordinarily people should be dropping dead in Lagos and the streets littered with bodies. Majority of people are not showing symptoms.
That's to tell you something is not right, we are not being told something. I don't believe the media. They only show u what they want you to see.

If government like let them lockdown from now till next year, it doesn't change anything about the spread.
As long as flights are leaving Nigeria and coming in despite the international flight ban.
The land borders are porous.
The virus is here to stay ,it is better to manage it than using lockdown to cover up. For how long would there be lock down.
As for schools being locked down come next year the covid 19 cases would still be like this that's if not worse. Would they lockdown schools till 2022.
Let them do the right thing and things would go back to normal with people protecting themselves.

601 cases
Hmm pls schools shouldn't open till next year oo.
Churches and markets should be closed too.
Including interstate lock down.
Schools are not the cause of the issue.
If school resumes you can stay at home

The govt should just impose another Total lockdown following the daily increase.

Thats the only way the virus could be defeated.

The number of cases now is outrageous and unbearable.
You don't mean it.
Because you'll give people food.

I REFUSE TO BELIEVE that you are here asking people you do not know, people who do not care if you exist, for advice on your FUTURE.... are you OK?
If you do not know what course to study, then why are you going to DELSU? Has corona not shown you that SCHOOL is not everything? Must you go to UNIVERSITY?

It is a sensitive decision, and you are cheaply asking from people who do not know you from adam, na wa o, I fear who no fear you. How careless are you with your life?

At this age, are you not supposed to know your path in life, your purpose in life? I really am alarmed you can come here to ask people to direct your future ALL BECAUSE OF MATHEMATICS.... lol... you are funny o. I am very sure you are good in the MATHEMATICS OF MONEY.... you know how much is left in your purse or account when you have spent money during the day... THAT IS MATHEMATICS.

So pls go and sit and think about your life, naija and your future... then decide if school is worth going or if you will use the money to start a business. If school is worth going simply choose a course that is in line with your purpose and destiny.... IF YOU DO NOT KNOW YOUR PURPOSE... PLS DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER TILL YOU DO.
Must you comment.

The FG must enforce a lockdown now, all airports should be shutdown now.

Schools should remain shut. People should stay at home.

Lockdown is the only solution to defeat this virus.

I wont talk again.
Because you'll feed people.
We blacks have a faulty thinking. Always looking for the easy way out instead of doing things in the interest of others.

SereneSolomon:
After much is suspense and delay,it seems the 6month hiatus enforced by the Covid-19 pandemic is about to come to an abrupt end,as it seems Tertiary Institutions are to resume schools next month,September 7. Though this is not entirely reliable,i'd strongly advise we heed to this early notification and go back to our Books, because as soon as schools open Students and Lecturers have just two weeks for revision and two weeks for exams. Furthermore, there will be no break as the second semester continues leaving students with little or no to rest,so we should be mentally and physically prepared and bring enough provision as much as we can. As much as we want schools to resume we should take the above with a "pinch of salt" until we hear the final verdict from the Federal Government
Oga vice chancellor.
Two weeks for revision and two weeks for exams.
Because everyone is in the same school.
Think before you create a thread.
Acquire sense.

Please just go to the primary school you graduated from and complain.
Forget about some males on this thread that are quoting you.
Most of them are here to try and get a lady for cheap sex.
Most of them their occupation is to go online and see if they can get a lady.
Useless fellows they are.
So dont mind the men on this forum.
Anybody that ask you to meet him in private has something dirty in his mind.
Just go to your primary school and complain.
It is they that will direct you accordingy.
need to ask a question here.

Over the years,I have found that any girl that approaches me first,I used to find her very attractive and sexy.

As in, if I am the one that first approach a lady for friendship/relationship,

if she agrees and we start our relationship, soon i will get tired of the relationship and will not want to continue.

This is because I will not find her attractive enough.

I can only find a lady attractive enough if she is the one that first approach me,either directly or indirectly.

As in,a lady might meet me that she wants me to teach her Mathematics/physics/biology etc.

But maybe she wants to use the opportunity to get close to me.

Such ladies,I use to find it very hard to let her go.

As in,if the teaching leads to a relationship,I will feel so attached to her that I will want the relationship to continue forever.

I find ladies who initiate the relationship very attractive and sexy.It does not matter the physical appearance of the lady.

But if I am the one who initiate the relationship,I can easily let her go without thinking twice.

This has happened countless number of times.

Even now,I still think about those girls who initiated the relationship, but who later left me and are married.

But those ones whom I was the first to approach,I do not even think about them if they eventually left.

I bring this question to Nairaland because i know that if I approach a lady for marriage,

I am very sure the marriage will not last.

And since we are in a society where males must approach a lady for marriage, what am I to do?

I will prefer a lady to approach me first,if I am to hold onto her forever.

But a lady's pride will not allow her to approach me first for marriage.

So i am bringing this question to Nairaland.
