Good evening,
My sister and her husband have a PR application file with Canada. My information is included in her application as her sibling. Will that affect my f1 visa application and interview since US and Canada share information between themselves?
Thanks for your responses. |

Visa Approved✅ Emergency appointment Location: Abuja VO: White man
School: Illinois institute of technology
Program: Masters in Advanced Manufacturing, Automation and Control systems
COA: $49888 Funding: $11000
Deficit covered with Mpower Loan and Personal Savings.
I forgot to sign my i20. I have to sign it in front of the VO
The two persons before me were denied.
VO: Hi, Good morning, how are you?
Me: I'm fine and you?
VO: Cool, pass me the documents.
Me: I gave him only my passport.
VO: (He smiled) I mean pass me those documents you are with.
Me: Oh! I wasn't aware of that, sorry. I then passed my DS160 and i20
VO: I see you are going for Manufacturing Engineering.
Me: No! I'm going for Advanced Manufacturing with a specialization in Automation and Control Systems.
VO: Looked at his computer to confirm what I filled in DS160 and nodded.
VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: Bachelors of Engineering, I studied Mechanical Engineering, I graduated in the year Bleep.
VO: Looked at his computer again and nodded
VO: What have you been doing since then?
Me: I've been working in the Oil and Gas Industry.
VO: I can see you worked as a Non-- (I didn't allow him to finish, I completed the sentence for him)
Me: Yes! I previously worked as a Non-destructive Testing Engineer

VO: Great! He Nodded! Your family will give you $4000
Me: Sure, my aunt Mrs xxxx will be supporting me with $4000, I will also be supplementing it with my personal savings.
VO: He looked at his computer again and confirmed my aunt's name on my DS160, kept on nodding
VO: What does she do?
Me: She is a real estate investor. She buys and sells lands. She also develops them into estates.
VO: I can see you are genuine! (We both smiled). I will be keeping your passport. He gave me a white paper
He was telling me bout COVID 19 restrictions and Port of entry, I didn't hear anyother thing. I kept on saying. Okay!!. When he was done talking, I told him Thank you!, Bye and have a nice day.
VO: you too
No Document was asked
---------------------------------------- Note:
1) Know your DS160 and make sure you filled the DS160 by yourself without error.
2)Know your funding.
3) If possible, get relevant work experience
Be Confident and see this as a discussion not just question and answer. Was the name course on your I-20 the same as your course of study. And if different, what did you fill in your I-20. |

Stevenssen: 1. You are working in Computer Science and going for a Masters in Psychology. Why do you need the degree? Your current job and the degree you are going for couldn't be more different. Put yourself in the VO's shoes, how would you react to this? Also, it is never good to volunteer unnecessary information at your interview. There was really no need to mention that your work is Computer Science related, It all started going downhill from there. Why not just say "Through a colleague at work" ?
2. You applied for 2 very unrelated courses. I wonder why. If you are going for a grad degree, make sure you studied something related in your undergrad and that you are also working in a related field where that degree will actually be helpful to you. If you studied something unrelated in undergrad then it is still okay as long as you are working in a field related closely to the degree you are going for.
You need to restrategize and prepare better. Thanks so much for your review. I work for a big organization and my work is computer science related: I didn't tell the VO this. I just mentioned it here for you guys to know my profile Now, this school gave me admission in Computer science. I chose Psychology because the admission came out first.
I also didn't mention this. Just added it here to give a little background. I'll give feedback on my next interview probably in June or July. |

VO: So you're going to Liberty University for a Masters in Psychology: Me: Yes
VO: How did you know about the school
Me: Through a colleague at work: I work for a big organization and my work is computer science related:
VO: How does this course fit into what you're doing Me: To be honest, I couldn't defend it so well
VO: He reiterated: You're doing computer science-related work at bleep, how Psychology Me: My answer didn't seem clear and cogent to him
VO: How many schools did you apply to Me: 2
VO: Were you accepted? Me: yes
Now, this school gave me admission in Computer science. I chose Psychology because the admission came out first.
VO: Who is sponsoring the trip Me: My Brother
VO: What does he do Me: He works as a manager for an Oil serving company in Norway

Hello House, Is there a problem if my US contact upon arrival on my DS-160 is different from my School official to contact upon arrival on my I-20? The one I filled on my DS-160 is a school official to contact, she sent me my I-20 E-copy, but the name on my hard copy I -20 when I received it is different. They're both Internationa Student Official.
Please advise.
My Interview is an emergency approval appointment tomorrow. May 4 |

@fairheart Please can I transfer my SEVIS fee payment to another person? fairheart: People are still going for spring, those very small in number and most likely with extension letter. A lady from this thread got her visa yesterday at 4th attempt at the U.S embassy, Abuja. There are is another guy from here planning for interview next week. For fall 2021, I believe applicants can start going to the embassy from late April, that is in roughly 3 months from now.
For those who are going for interview for fall, please read thread 15, at least from October 2020. Learn from others experience so that you can avoid setbacks and unnecessary refusal.
When I have time, I will post a list of to-dos for fall 2021 prospects. If you have questions, don't hold back; ask! There are always people on this thread that will answer. All the best guys! |

tarantino1: Dec 18th Abuja
I met with the white guy
Good morning VO: Good morning
VO: Pass ur passport and i-20
VO: So what are you going for?
Me: I'm going for a bachelor's degree in Y university Alabama
Vo(just recalled this one): why do you want to study this?
Me: It has always been my lifelong goal to work as a healthcare profession where I'll be equipped with the skills to help people in their most vulnerable state - when sick and injured
Vo: Checks the i20. Then asks why my uncle wants to give me that kind of money
Me: My uncle has always been interested in my education. He knows I'm very promising and focused and there'll be a great return of investment in my education
Vo: yes but you still haven't answered why he wants to give you that kind of money?
Me: oh, that? That's his bank statement
Vo: oh! Alright, what does he do?
Me: He's a X in Alabama
Vo: same state you'll be attending?
Me: yes.
Vo: do you have family in Nigeria?
Me: yes I do
Vo: list them
Me: My dad, mum, brothers and sister
Vo: Okay. Types for a while then says you're ineligible at this time The red flag was this part. ""Me: oh, that? That's his bank statement Vo: oh! Alright, what does he do? Me: He's a X in Alabama Vo: same state you'll be attending? Me: yes."" Your Uncle lives and works in Alabama, and is your sponsor shows immigration intent. Advice for all: Try avoiding sponsors living in the US except the sponsor is your School (Admission with Full funding). It's a big red flag. |
