If m:n=2:3, u:v=4:5 and m-u:n+v=2:5, find the ratio m+10u:2n-5v

Richiez: 3√(10+ 6√3)
the above can be re-written as;
(10+ 6√3)^1/3 = 10^1/3[1+ 0.6√3]^1/3

for fractional index, the binomial series is given by;
(1+x)^1/n = 1 + x/n + 1/n(1/n -1)x^2/2! + 1/n(1/n -1)(1/n -2)x^3/3!+..........
Note that more accuracy is attained when more terms in the series are used
in our case, 1/n=1/3 and x=0.6√3

2.154[ 1 + (1/3)(0.6√3) + 1/3(1/3 -1)(0.6√3)^2/2! + 1/3(1/3 -1)(1/3 -2)(0.6√3)^3/3!]

remember due to approximations, and the fact that we used only the first three terms, this result will only be approximate to the calculator value...but this is the best method to use in the absence of a calculator

@lucario007 jst lyk my bro wemmy said. No singular formulae exit for determining the total surface area of a prism and that of a pyramid.
For prism in general, the total surface area=sum of the areas of al d surfaces.
Likwise for pyramid, the total surface area of a pyramid=Area of base+sum of areas of the triangular faces. N.B (a pyramid has a number of the triangular faces depending on the shape of the base. Eg a square base pyramid has 4 triangular faces)

After havin in my o'level, math -A1, chemistry-B2, english-B2, futher maths-A1, technical drwg-A1, geography-A1 and physics-OUTSTANDING, if i then gets a result say, maths-A1, english-b3, chemistry-A1 PHYSICS-A1, tech drwg A1 and further math-A1 in my second sitting. Hw will the combine result be calculated. Although i saw somewhere here on nairaland that d calculation format for 2 sitting is:
6 subjects that is related to ur course, then
A1=10 pt
B2=8 pt
B3=6 pt
C4=4 pt
C5=2 pt
C6, D7, E8 and F9=0
pls is this the real format? If no tell me hw it is been calculated.

sorry bro, UI does not accept students until ur o level is complete.
but since u said u r writing d nxt o levels, u can stl meet up if ur result is released early enuf.
UI wl call all prospectiv students 2 come submit dia results. hopfully, ur o level wil b ready by den.

ayodeji752: lheyhe u re d reason why am stil loggin in to dis thread.i want u to confirm it dat ui used 50:50 and nt 60:40 for its admissn last year.to read last year's admissn instruction everybody should type '2011/2012 UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN 50:50 UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION' in ur google and read it.some1 even copied it 4rm ui website to nairaland last year.50:50 is still nt popular so pple hav to b very careful.UI IS NW USING 50:50 AND NT 60:40

Why nt use the 60:40 and 50:50 method to calculate our grades until the comfirmation of which method is use nw, because applicants need to knw thier chances so that they wil knw what to do wit d change of course/institution form. Let's use dis limited time to achieve unlimited benefits thanks...
