PoliticsRe: Revolution Is The Solution To Nigeria's Current Mess. Nothing Else Can Work. by johndan103(op): 10:03am On Dec 07, 2018
Nowenuse:
A revolution cannot and can never work in a country like Nigeria. Do you know why? Tribalism and religious differences.

If a Northerner is in power, Northernerns will never think of a revolt cos they believe it is their turn to rule and if Southerners revolt, it would lead to a 'them vs Us crisis' which can lead to a civil war.

Take for instance when GEJ was in power, you couldn't just tell the Ijaws or people of the Niger delta about a revolution. It just wouldn't make any sense to them at that time.

At the heat of the restructuring issue earlier this year, I remember some Hausas saying that why didn't we bring up this issue of restructuring while GEJ was in power? Why is it now that they are in power? You can imagine such a mentality.

A revolution can only work in a mono ethnic nation or a nation with an absolute ethnic majority. A nation where the overwhelming majority of the people have common interests and belief system.

Nigerian masses can never unite across tribes and religions to speak with one voice. This is why restructuring or outright dissolution of the country is the only way out.
You are correct about Africa having so many languages and ethnic groups. Nigeria in particular is divided based on ethnic and religious lines.

But what you dont understand that we need to revolt peacefully now so we will herald a new Africa. The current system will never change cos it favours only those at the helm of affairs.

Take example of Yahya Jammeh of Gambia who didn't want to leave. We need to use technology to govern ourselves.

It doesn't matter if it has ever been used in the Western world or not. We can do it and that is the only way we will be free.

An illiterate almajiri up north will continue to vote for whoever keeps him in slavery.

This keeps him in penury but not only him, It resonates and affects others in other places who are civilized and enlightened. That's why one man one vote is flawed. Simply put not everyone is equally aware of the dangers of wrong electoral and governance decisions.

Revolution (of the Arab Spring stylee) can't work in Nigeria! We're just too fractured to be able to speak with one voice!

The ruling elite that are about to lose out will always fall back to pandering to the ethnic and religious cleavages to confuse and befuddle their talakawas! This has never failed them in the past!
I agree with you that the Arab spring turned out to be a nightmare to many of the territories that participated in it.

Ours will be devoid of violence. The government will be running on our mobile phones and laptops. Every decision is taken in the system publicly, monitored publicly and its executed publicly.

It cannot be hacked or mutated

The earlier Africa sees that we are not moving forward the earlier Africa will take its position in the affairs of mankind

Before I begin I need to lay down some clearifications:

1. This is not a political Thread. my grievance is beyond any political party. So there is no intention to promote any.

2. I assert that there is no solution to the current mess Nigeria is in. Nigeria has become the laughing story about the globe. And it not about any specific political party or individual. That is, this issue started from the foundation of the entity called Nigeria. These same issues are not just evident in Nigeria. Same problems are common around Africa eg south Sudan, Liberia, Freetown, DRC etc. In fact it's more like the African system of government is not best for Africa.

3. I don't believe in secession or disintegration of the country or redrawing any borders.

4. I am more about allowing resources to be controlled by the owners of those resources. Wherever they are found. I am about state policing.

5. But the problem is that the Constitution as it is favors only the people who have hijacked it from the beginning. So we need to suspend the Constitution and re write another one based our collective agreement.

6. We can achieve these by the use of technology. There's something called blockchain ,put in plain terms. Blockchain cannot be modified or manipulated. So therefore it is reliable. That's why it can be used as a medium of exchange value in form of crypto currencies.

7. We can bypass the current Constitution easily. And form a government online. Which will be completely transparent. Everyone acts based on the conclusion of what was debated online.

8. The idea of one man one vote is flawed in the sense that some men are more enlightened than others. No matter what you feel, knowledge is power and an ignorant man's opinion shouldn't weigh same as someone knowledgeable about pending disaster if a decision is taken. Take for example. The architect is in the best position to decide the structural design of a building. The carpenter how ever how good he may be in carpentry will not be able to convince fellow knowledgeable people.

9. Which means tests and performance will be the yardstick for how valuable an account is. Which translates to "voting decision power".

Selective Electronic Government Initiative Will hanle this.

10. This project is open source and has no central control . So just as Bitcoin is not controlled by any specific authority but the people. Contributions will be open to everyone who is deemed fit to contribute in any way.

11. There's serious need for developer participation in the GitHub account where the app resides and the source code is publicly available.

Please ignore my typos.
I will update this thread as often as I can.
I also hope I did not break any nairaland rules.
I read them and kept them in mind while expressing myself.

Good luck my fellow Africans. I hope you wake up one day and see that you are in bondage and it is not improving. It won't improve until we reorganize things buy dumping the old Constitution and rewrite one that favors us.

Peace only come the moment you become Knowledgeable.

PoliticsRe: Oba Of Lagos Clarifies Allegations Of Threat To Igbos - Full Text Statement by johndan103: 7:26pm On Apr 07, 2015
There has been too much talk about the Oba. Yes he was wrong to have said that, and it has no place in our democracy however we should let it pass as he is just a traditional ruler. He has no political mandate or security apparatus to carry out the threat. Everyone should vote as his conscience dictates and let the best candidate win. I wonder why we Nigerians let our leaders misdirect us. Even if anything happens those leaders won't get killed but their thugs will. Use ekiti as example. My fellow Nigerian youth lets wissen up and build a country for ourselves.
