United we stand divided we fall. It is only our unity and relentless effort that can bring us back to our feet in medical field because we are in a state of moribund now and if care is not taking we will be restricted to teaching line..

u are right it is weather but we can prevent it by keeping our environment clean, let us burry all those broken bottles because it serve as breeding place for mosquito who is vector that transmit this disease. Even sachet water or any unused container left In our premises can serve the same purpose.

It is not funny, the way kids are dying of malaria is worrisome. I'm doing my SIWESS in one private medical laboratory and the way hospitals are requesting for blood and news we hear everyday concerning the death rate of infant or teenager is too bad.. just because of malaria. We need more orientation for the mothers

THE RISE AND FALL OF NIGERIA UNIONISM
There have been strict indications that the umbrella
body of all Nigerian Students has lost its mission and
vision.
Before the name NANS came into existence, the
umbrella body of Nigeria Students was known as NUNS.
NUNS came into existence when the umbrella body of
West Africa students WASU fought the colonial masters
and insisted on the rights of African Students to be
ported and promoted.
NUNS adopted the same ideology of WASU and That
was how students unionism started in Nigeria.
During the 1960's, tertiary institutions was not much in
Nigeria, but the system was well coordinated and
managed, the students voice was very sound and clear
which led to the Abolition of the so-called Anglo-
Nigerian Defence pact.
In the 1970's, the number of higher institutions in
Nigeria increased in numbers. The students struggle by
this time was fully appreciated and recognized in Nigeria
and West Africa as a whole. The students saw
themselves as agents of change, and they wanted to
make a very positive impact to the history of their
society. During this period, the Students Struggle was
supported by lots of radical intellectuals in the labour
movement and the academia, and found a ready anchor
in the ideology of the left. The students' leaders then
were Independent idealist and firebrands Comrades.
It should be noted that it was under the leadership of
SEGUN OKEOWO that NUNS became more directly
involved in politics. NUNS were given a slot when the
Constituent Assembly was constituted in 1977 to
deliberate on a new constitution. OKEOWO during this
period led nigerian students into battle against the
Nigerian Government on a number of key issues which
includes: the funding of Education, increase in the
tuition fee and accommodation fees and presence of
solders in schools to enforce discipline. Negotiations
broke down between the leadership of NUNS and The
Nigerian government and that led the students into the
street "Ali Must Go" protest of 1978. The federal
government by this time were fed up of the Students
body as it restricts them from carrying out their evil
plan against Nigerian Students.
The Government immediately announced the
proscription of the NUNS and ordered the arrest of
SEGUN OKEOWO, personnel and officers whom were
accused of supporting the students against the
government were also arrested and sacked. The
students took their Stand and insisted that they were
fighting the evil forces of feudalism, parochialism and
tyranny.
The Students adopted a new system by using the name
National Organisation of Nigeria Students NONS. A new
set of executive was elected in 1979. The new President
and Secretary was rusticated from Bayero University,
Kano. Students leaders in some schools received same
treatment. In 1980, the civilian government lifted the
ban placed on the Union. The Students with immediate
effect changed the name to National Association of
Nigerian Students.
Students struggle were a perpetual source of dissent. In
1978, the then named NUNS instigated or participated
in a nationwide protest against the unnecessary
increase in tuition fee. During this protest, lots of
students were killed and several injured by the police
and Army. The FMG responded by closing three
universities, by banning NUNS, and by appointing a
commission of inquiry.
Some major fights of the students are: 1978 "Ali Must
Go", April 1988 protest over a 3-per cent rise in gasoline
prices, anti-SAP struggles and removal of oil subsidy
riots, June 12 protest, anti-military campaigns where
and when Nigerian Students stood beside labour and
other pro-democracy groups to insist that Nigeria can
be governed differently for the benefits of its citizens.
Unlike before, the well known NANS for its unshakeable
stand has turn to a political association. NANS in recent
days has involved in so many programs that are
political which includes: endorsing of political post
aspirants in the name of the Association, a Die hard
campaign for politicians, joining the federal government
in accusing aggrieved bodies unnecessarily,
factionalising the association, giving of Award to
politicians e.t.c. NANS today exist only in name as
there actions are no longer for the benefits of Nigeria
Students. It is well know that Students leaders of today
do sell protest. They don't protest because they are
been affected by the policy or issues they protest
because they are been paid.
I have severely asked this question: What are our
students leaders turning our once vibrant and
unshakeable association to?, Where is Students
Unionism helding to?, and how can we stop those
hungry leaders from selling our Rights, our Struggle, Our
Association and our Students.
These questions I awaits response. By Comr Kakaki

I discovered that what microbiologist and biochemists are lacking is unity. AMLSN(association of medical lab. scientist) bond is so strong that they can frustrate doctor if they wish. see what happen when JOHESU went on strike and AMLSN is the forerunner of JOHESU. but I believe is microbiologist unite and form a strong association with biochemist, they will have their place back in Hospital.
