If we understand ethics aright, you will observe that all ethical rules were derived from moral thinking.  A man who is morally upright must at the same time be ethical in his conduct.  The two cannot really be separated.  However, where a conflict does exist between ethics and morality, then you must examine the situation critically and you will discover that ethical rules were not followed in the first place and that is what is now giving rise to moral and ethical contradiction.

Take the two stories and examine them:

First Story:

This lady is also HIV positive and when she found out, she hid her status from the young man who is the only son of his parents and recently got promoted @ his place of work! sadly this lady isn't wrking and didn't want to miss-out on the chance of marrying this well-to-do young man in his late twenties, both of them tested their status b4 the marrage i.e 7 & 2mths respectively, however what the lady did was to arrange with lab scientist so that she will test negative on both occassions and the lab. technician agreeded to this arrangement.

If the Lab Scientist had followed ethical rules, he would not have played along with the lady, thereby he committed the crime of falsification and lying.  This entire fiasco would have been avoided if the Lab Scientist had been ethical!

Then the second story:

The 2nd example i want to give is a more unfortunate one involving a young Alhaji who is a very senior director @ his place of wrk in Abuja and his wife. they had being married for 8yrs with no children and following pressure by the wife he agreed to see a gynaecologist, following Full evaluation of the both of them the problem was from the man, he had no spermatozoa in his expel. so the wife came from behind and met the doctor seeking to know the result, & as soon as she was told that she wasn't the problem! she arranged with the doctor to give the husband a different result showing that he was Ok and was capable of getting his wife pregnant. so on their Appointment day he was told the comforting news that they were all fine and that they can go-ahead and make babies.

The doctor in the second story also broke ethical rules by also playing along with the woman by not only withholding the real result, but also falsifying the result on the basis of which the woman started her pranks.  As serious as the matter is, there is a comical aspect to it which clearly should be a warning to all who wish to travel on the same road as these unethical professionals and the heartless ladies in question:

The high rate of unemployment is the reason for a potential employer to request that applicants make some form of payment in order to be given an opportunity to participate in the recruitment process. If applicants were so scarce, prospective employers will need to give out incentives to even get candidates to show interest in the recruitment process. It is such a shame.

What really baffled me is that NDLEA is a government agency and I wonder the kind of example they are setting for others to follow. Next you will know, is that private companies will take over the practice and it will become scratch card galore to apply online for a job. The government should regulate the activities of its agencies and not allow them to steal from their citizens. It seems to be more like a means of generating revenue. But to want to collect from those who have little, even struggling to survive, is inhuman. Just consider the cadre of applicants they are calling for HND/B.SC/WASC/SSCE - these are the ones that are to be found in their large numbers all over the country.

It is very unfortunate.
