Suppliers/Dealers/Engineers etc in the house. I am in need of a Pure Sine Wave Inverter (inverter only). I do not need the charger as I live completely off-grid and charge my batteries with my PV arrays only. I have a backup generator, but I do not charge the batteries with it. It is purely for backup. The capacity of the Pure Sine Wave Inverter only should be between 6KW and 8KW, and able to power submersible pumps, refrigerators, air conditioners, pressing irons, washing machines, dryers and other household appliances and office equipment. It should also be able to power small power tools such as drilling and cutting machines The inverter should be a low self-consumption inverter. Cheers |
DMerciful:DMerciful From what I read from Trojan literature regarding their flooded batteries, they were very emphatic that their flooded batteries DO NOT develop any form of memory at all. Is there a new development contrary to their assertion. Please let us know! Cheers |

@OP Nice to have bumped into this thread and thanks for giving LR enthusiasts a bit more confidence. I am considering getting a Land Rover vehicle, but I am torn between 2008/2009 LR3 and 2011 LR4. Which of these would you recommend to give better service in terms of performance, reliability and maintenance? In others words, which would give me the least troubles? Do you render the service of accompanying one to Cotonou to do a pre-purchase inspection of LR vehicles? Lastly, you said you travel a lot, so I am presuming that you can travel to Port Harcourt to service/repair LR vehicles? Many thanks. cheers |
Kindly give me an idea of what I should budget for the following vehicles: 2008 Land Rover LR3 V8 HSE 2011 Land Rover LR4 V8 HSE LUX Many thanks. Cheers |
JohnKester:After much research I have narrowed my options to the following: 2008 Land Rover LR3 V8 HSE 2011 Land Rover LR4 V8 HSE LUX What should I budget for either of these, with full custom clearance? Many thanks. Cheers |
efuro:Harmonise the first bold with the second so we can understand better. Cheers |
sooperrescue:Thanks for the response. Regarding the LR4, Kindly help me with answers to the following questions to enable me give it a thought: What the is the state of the LR4? Was it involved in an accident? and exactly what happened to the Engine? How was the maintenance culture of the previous owner? Is it Foreign or Nigerian used? If Nigerian used, was it bought brand new? If not, for how long was it used by the previous owner? What is the capacity of the engine? What is the trim SE, HSE or LUX? Is the engine to be ordered a brand new one or a used one? How much would the engine cost? And how much would you charge to mount the engine? I will send you a chat on WhatsApp, using my username here. We can continue the discussion on that platform. In addition, I will appreciate if you can send me pictures of the LR4. Cheers |
Good evening Sooperrescue I stumbled on this thread while I was researching Land Rover LR3, which hopefully shall be my next vehicle. This thread has given me a boost of confidence and I can now confidently say that I am interested in the 2008 model V8 HSE. What is your candid advice? I am based in Port Harcourt, so I would like to know if your outfit is now operational in Port Harcourt. It would be good to know that I have reliable hands that would help keep my LR3 healthy and happy, when I eventually get it. The address and contact information would be in order. Can you help source a sound direct tokunbo (foreign used) or a sound very clean, well-maintained Nigerian Used 2008 LR3, V8 HSE preferably with the DVD so that the children can be kept entertained when traveling on long trips. A 2008 already upgraded to 2012 would be preferable also. Awaiting your earliest response. Many thanks Cheers |
I am offering N2m. Serious offer! Cheers |
How much do I budget for 2006, 2007 and 2008 Land Rover LR3 V8 HSE DISCOVERY. With delivery to Port Harcourt. Cheers |
I have made contact with the OP and we have opened up discussions. Cheers |
Saipro:Many thanks for your contribution. And I must say, from my own experience, you are right regarding the set points recommended by the manufacturers and that is what got me worried. Slow charge that is not steady due to cloud casts, keeps trickling in until it eventually gets fully charged. I got worried that the slow charging never really get the batteries happily charged. Even the activity inside the batteries when charging was not encouraging compared with what I am experiencing with the set point #7. I am trying not to lose my batteries prematurely and so I have to do things right. By the way, Morningstar has the temperature compensated equalization too! Cheers |
NiyiOmoIyunade:Very many thanks for availing me the wealth of your experience! Cheers |
@Gurus in the house and users of Trojan L16 batteries. I have 16 pieces of Trojan L16 batteries, which I have been using for almost two years. I am completely offgrid. I am little concerned that the setpoint (#6 Settings) I am using to charge the batteries using Morningstar 150V 60A controller, may not be charging the batteries adequately. Although this matches the settings recommended by Trojan, but I have my reservations about that and I wonder if the setpoint (#7 Settings) which is designed by Morningstar for specifically for L16 batteries may be more suitable. What is your take on this? Kindly share your experiences with the batteries generally, and the settings you have found that charge the batteries most adequately. Cheers |
NiyiOmoIyunade:I am adding Reliability and Durability! Cheers |
aweso:Drop your price list here, it will help! Cheers |

blazeup:Please kindly share your source for the water distiller, that is where one can buy it. Cheers |
battleaxe:What direction are your panels facing and what is the degree of inclination of the panels? The above questions are very important and I came to appreciate the importance about 2 months ago. My panels are installed, facing south, which is not a problem. That is actually the appropriate direction. The angle or degree of inclination should be between 6 and 10 degrees. The difference in performance of properly inclined panels and those not so inclined is much more significant than I appreciated before now. I observed not long ago that the direction from which sun rises had changed significantly to the extent that my panels installed at about 30 - 45 degrees inclination were almost backing the rays as the sun is rising and would remain almost like that for the day. It was then I actually noticed that my angles were wrong. So I dropped the panels to 6 degrees inclination and guess what? My 5.3kw pv arrays which before then would take till about 5.00 to 6.00 pm to fully charge my batteries, can now complete the charge at about between 2 and 3 pm! A difference of about 3 hours! There is a significant improvement in the yield. My batteries now float almost everyday, even when it rains sometime in the day. The beauty of 6 degrees is that whichever direction the sun takes, the panels have complete and direct supply as long as there are no shades! One more thing, You need to test your panels to ensure that they are all functioning. Also from experience, my second pv array of 2.25kw which is supposed to yield at least 3/4 or 2/3 of the yield of the first pv array of 3.06kw, was actually yielding less than half of the the first array. So I had to troubleshoot and in the process discovered that one of the panels in one string was not functioning. Fortunately, it could be repaired, which was done and the thenceforth the panels started performing to expectation! The effect of such a problem is that the entire string (in my own case made up of 3 panels) would not contribute any yield to the production of the array. So I had two strings functioning in a 3-string array. So you need to do an audit of the system to discover where the problem may be. Cheers |
earthrealm:Mine is actually on a new building and central hot water supply system was already provided for in the piping design. I did not have much problem with the installation because the building has a concrete flat roof and I just installed it on the roof. It can be installed anywhere you have direct unhindered sunlight to it even if it is not close to the tank stand. All that is required is to pipe inlet supply to it and pipe outlet to the house and the rest is for it to work. It can be on its own tank stand, which however, should be below the level of the water supply tank stand, so that gravity can still supply water to the water heater. Note that having it above your tank stand would mean that you will require a pump to send water to it, or pump directly from the sumo to it. However, this may not function well as the tank may run dry, except of course you automate the pumping which may deplete your batteries if it happens frequently at night when there is no sunlight. The design of the solar water heater is such that once water is going into the house from the outlet, the inlet will automatically open to let in water to fill up the tank. You will achieve better result if water supply to it comes from your overhead tank that will not require power. Cheers |
earthrealm:Performing just as it did last year, when we had 10 days of continuous rainy/cloudy days, we still had hot water with the few hours of sunlight that comes up daily. We had hot water all throughout. The only difference is that it would not be as hot as in the dry season, but good enough to still mix it otherwise you can scald your skin! Cheers |
DMerciful:DMerciful Kindly enlighten us on the performance of your LIFEO4 Battery, so and your general experience with them compared with flooded Lead Acid Batteries. I am keenly interested, although my L16 Trojan are still performing like brand new, it is good to follow the trend in the development of batteries, in the event that one wishes to upgrade the system.
