Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has urged President Bola Tinubu to apologise to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Nigerians over the removal of petrol subsidy, accusing the Federal Government of adopting an intervention similar to a proposal it had previously criticised.

Frank, in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, was reacting to the Federal Government’s announcement of a 30-day petrol discount at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) retail outlets, with priority given to public transport operators.

He argued that the temporary measure had exposed what he described as inconsistencies in the administration’s position on petrol subsidy, insisting that Nigerians deserved lasting relief from the economic hardship that followed the policy’s removal in 2023.

“We expect Tinubu and his government to first apologise to Atiku Abubakar for its previous attacks on his position to return fuel subsidy if voted into office as President.

“Secondly, he should commend him and thank him for what we consider an excellent proposal that could help address the current economic hardship facing Nigerians.

“Rather than dismissing his proposal, the government should recognise its potential to provide relief to Nigerians who are struggling with the prevailing economic situation.

“Any government genuinely committed to the welfare of the people should be willing to consider practical ideas that can ease their suffering, irrespective of who puts them forward,” he said.

The Federal Government announced the 30-day discount on Thursday as part of measures to cushion the impact of rising petrol prices.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, said the arrangement was not a return to subsidy but an offer to sell petrol at cost for an initial period of 30 days.

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, however, questioned the distinction between the discount and the subsidy arrangement previously abolished by the administration, arguing that the new measure amounted to a reversal of its earlier hardline position.

“Simply put, Tinubu, who maintained a hardline stance on fuel subsidy removal, has gone back to his vomit,” he said.

He added: “The President must immediately apologise to Nigerians over the fuel subsidy removal now that he has realised his policy mistake, which has taken a huge toll on Nigerians economically since 2023.”

Frank also questioned whether the temporary intervention would provide meaningful relief to Nigerians who have struggled with rising transportation costs, food prices and shrinking purchasing power since the subsidy was removed.

He said the policy change in May 2023 had affected households and businesses across the country, with higher petrol prices feeding into the cost of transporting goods, running businesses and meeting basic household needs.

“For millions of Nigerians, the consequences of higher fuel prices have extended beyond the cost of filling a vehicle's tank.

“Increased transport and logistics costs have put pressure on traders, manufacturers, farmers and small businesses, while households have had to contend with rising expenses for commuting, food and other necessities,” he said.

Frank argued that a 30-day discount could not reverse the cumulative effects of more than three years of economic pressure, particularly for workers and small-business owners whose earnings had struggled to keep pace with rising living costs.

He also raised questions about the scope and implementation of the intervention, including the number of NNPCL retail outlets participating in the scheme, the volume of petrol to be sold at discounted rates and the measures planned after the initial 30-day period.

According to him, the government must explain how the arrangement would provide sustained relief to transport operators, traders, workers and low-income households rather than offer a temporary reprieve.

The former APC spokesman said the latest development had also revived debate over Atiku’s proposal to restore petrol subsidy if elected president in 2027.

In August, Atiku reiterated his position on the issue, declaring: “On the question of subsidy, my position has not changed and will not change: I will restore it!”

The former vice-president had argued that Nigeria should use its resources to protect citizens from severe economic hardship.

The Presidency, however, challenged the proposal, questioning its fiscal and legal basis and asking how a restored subsidy would avoid the problems associated with the previous system.

Frank said the Federal Government’s latest intervention had vindicated Atiku’s call for a subsidy arrangement intended to cushion Nigerians against rising fuel and transportation costs.

“But now, having seen the light in Atiku’s proposal, Tinubu simply came down off his high horse and adopted the idea without any acknowledgments,” he declared.

He warned the President against expecting the temporary discount to erase public dissatisfaction over the economic consequences of subsidy removal.

“Nigerians are no fools. They know how their present economic predicament started with ‘fuel subsidy is gone’ in 2023. They will definitely use their votes to reclaim their country and set it on the path of economic progress come 2027,” he said.

Frank maintained that the central issue was not whether the government described its latest intervention as a discount or a subsidy, but whether it would deliver meaningful and sustained relief.

He called on the administration to explain how the measure would address the broader cost-of-living crisis and prevent households and businesses from continuing to bear the brunt of high energy and transportation costs.

He insisted that Nigerians needed a coherent, long-term economic response rather than a temporary intervention that would expire after 30 days.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has described Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election as a demonstration of the power of the people and a possible pointer to the 2027 general elections.

Frank, in a statement in Abuja, said the outcome showed that citizens could overcome political pressure and other odds when they remained determined to defend their choices at the polls.

He said the result should serve as a warning that the outcome of the 2027 presidential election would ultimately be determined by Nigerian voters.

“President Tinubu may think he already has his election results in mind, but ultimately, it is the Nigerian people who will decide his fate through the power of their votes,” he said.

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, urged opposition parties to unite ahead of 2027, saying a coordinated effort would be necessary to challenge the ruling APC.

He also called on Nigerians to remain vigilant throughout the electoral process, urging them to vote, remain at polling units and ensure that their votes are properly counted.

“Let 2027 not be business as usual. They must vote, stay, and see their votes counted, just as they have done in Osun,” he said.

Frank commended Osun voters for what he described as their political ingenuity, for rejecting inducements and voting according to their conscience.

He said: “I commend the people of Osun for this new political ingenuity, where money is taken, yet still voted for the candidate of their choice. After all, the money belongs to us as citizens, as it was taken from government coffers.”

He urged Nigerians to remain peaceful but resolute in protecting their votes through lawful and democratic means, particularly in the face of alleged harassment and intimidation.

Frank also commended Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, for what he described as his commitment to electoral integrity.

He urged Nigerian youths and celebrities to emulate Davido by taking an active interest in the country’s democratic process rather than remaining on the sidelines.

“Going into 2027, I call on Nigerian youths and celebrities alike to borrow a leaf from Davido, as this is not the time to sit on the fence. Nigeria belongs to all of us,” he said.

Frank congratulated Adeleke, his supporters and the people of Osun State, saying the election had reaffirmed the importance of citizens’ participation in democracy.

He urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the electoral process, arguing that political power ultimately belongs to the people and that leadership should reflect their will.

“As we look towards 2027, let us remain peaceful, vigilant, informed, and determined. Let us encourage one another to participate actively in the electoral process and to defend our votes through lawful and democratic means,” he said.

Frank added: “The time has come for Nigerians to believe again. The time has come for the people to rise, vote, and protect their votes. The time has come to choose wisely.”

He said the Osun election should inspire Nigerians to participate actively in the 2027 elections and work towards building a country that serves the interests of all citizens.

Osun 2026: Timi Frank Demands Suspension, Arrest of Fadahunsi Over ‘Inciting’ Remarks



…Says senator’s comments expose alleged APC plot to rig Osun poll

Opposition leader and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has demanded the immediate suspension and arrest of Senator Francis Fadahunsi over alleged inflammatory remarks concerning the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.

Frank also called on security agencies to investigate Fadahunsi, insisting that statements capable of inciting electoral violence must not be tolerated.

In a video circulating online, the senator, speaking in Yoruba, was heard accusing Accord Party members of attacking APC members and urging the gathering to attack Accord Party supporters in Ilesa.

In a statement on Wednesday, Frank described the alleged remarks as “unguarded” and dangerous to Nigeria’s democracy, urging the Federal Government and security agencies to act without delay.

“I condemn the comment of Senator Francis Fadahunsi strongly and call on the security agencies to immediately act, despite his position, to arrest the senator with all urgency,” he said.

Frank said the Senate should not fold its arms when one of its members makes statements capable of threatening peace and security during an election.

“The Senate must immediately suspend such a senator who can make such unguarded statements. We want to see action taken as an example to every person involved in election violence,” he said.

He said the alleged comments went beyond the Osun election, describing them as a possible indication of what he called a broader APC strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Frank also compared the matter with the detention of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over alleged comments, questioning what he described as a disparity in the government’s response to statements by opposition figures and members of the ruling party.

He argued that a serving senator should not be treated differently if accused of remarks capable of threatening electoral peace.

He said: “That is why the APC and the Presidency have remained quiet. If such a statement had been made by an opposition senator or anybody in the opposition, the person would have been in prison by now.”

According to him, the alleged treatment of El-Rufai demonstrated the need for consistency and fairness in responding to political statements capable of causing public concern.

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, appealed to the United States Government and the international community to closely monitor developments surrounding the Osun election.

“I call on the US government, President Donald Trump, the UK, EU and the entire international community not to remain quiet over such an incendiary statement coming from a serving senator in Nigeria,” he said.

He urged the international community to take appropriate measures against politicians whose actions or statements could undermine Nigeria’s democratic process, including possible visa restrictions where warranted.

Frank warned that the Osun election must be free, fair and credible, stressing that the will of the electorate must prevail.

“Osun election must not be rigged. The will of the people must count in Osun. Nigerians should not take this Osun election lightly if they decide to rig it.

“I urge the voters and citizens of Osun State not to be intimidated by these kinds of statements. I ask the voters and the people of Osun to rise up, vote and defend their votes,” he said.

He further warned that Fadahunsi and the ruling party should be held accountable for any violence arising from the election. “If anything happens in Osun State, this senator and the ruling party must be held responsible,” Frank said.

The opposition leader called on security agencies to remain neutral and professional before, during and after the election.

“Security agencies must be professional and not go there to harass citizens and opposition members. The plot to arrest opposition members across political parties must not be allowed,” he said.

He maintained that the credibility of the Osun election would have far-reaching implications for Nigeria’s democracy and could serve as a pointer to what Nigerians should expect in the 2027 general elections.

The Bridge for Renewed Hope, a partner-group of City Boy Movement has responded to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s comments at the August 10, 2026 ADC governorship campaign rally in Osun State, saying that the decision of Governor Ademola Adeleke not to follow former Vice President Atiku Abubakar into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a clear reflection of the former Vice President’s inability to provide effective leadership.

Hon. Rowland Odih, former Director-General of Atiku Youth Wing and currently Director-General of The Bridge for Renewed Hope, said Atiku should stop blaming political leaders and party members who chose to remain in their respective political platforms.



Hon. Rowland argued that political leaders are judged by their ability to build trust, accommodate divergent interests and provide a compelling vision for the future.

"If Atiku’s leadership was as attractive and convincing as he portrays it, Governor Adeleke and other influential political figures would have followed him into the ADC," Hon. Rowland Odih said in a media statement signed and made available to the press on Tuesday.



“Atiku’s poor leadership is the reason Governor Adeleke did not follow him to the ADC. Rather than asking himself why prominent political leaders are not willing to follow him, he is busy attacking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC.



“Leadership is not about making the loudest claims at campaign rallies. It is about building confidence, earning the trust of the people and demonstrating the capacity to unite diverse interests around a common national objective.



“Governor Adeleke has made his political choice, and Nigerians should be allowed to judge every political leader based on their records, policies and capacity to deliver.”

Hon. Rowland further challenged Atiku to explain what he considers his major achievements in public service that should convince Nigerians to entrust him with the leadership of the country in 2027.

He said Nigerians, including the people of Osun State, are increasingly interested in the performance of Governments rather than political rhetoric.



He further adding that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated commitment to reforms, infrastructure, economic recovery, security and social intervention programmes.

The Bridge for Renewed Hope DG maintained that the people of Osun State will not be deceived by Atiku’s campaign rhetoric. He expressed confidence that voters in Osun State will support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15, 2026 governorship election and again in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

Leading President Tinubu support group, The Bridge for Renewed Hope has dismissed recent criticisms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.



The group maintained that President Tinubu administration has demonstrated an unprecedented commitment to the welfare and well-being of Nigerians.



According to Hon. Rowland Odih, former Director-General of Atiku Youth Wing and currently Director-General of The Bridge for Renewed Hope; "President Tinubu's Government is the first administration since Nigeria's return to democratic rule in 1999 to implement bold and people-focused reforms aimed at addressing long-standing structural challenges that previous Governments like the Obasanjo-Atiku Government of 1999 to 2007 failed to confront."

Reacting to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's comments, Hon. Rowland argued that Nigerians can clearly distinguish between constructive governance and political rhetoric.

Hon. Rowland re-affirmed his confidence that President Tinubu's performance in office which are overwhelmingly impressive will remain his strongest campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

He called on political leaders across party lines to place national interest above personal ambition and support President Tinubu's efforts which are aimed at promoting unity, stability and sustainable development in Nigeria.

Leading support group of President Tinubu, the Bridge for Renewed Hope; has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's prospects in the 2027 presidential election will depend primarily on his administration's record in office rather than appeals to religion or sectarian politics.

Speaking on the evolving political landscape ahead of the next general election; former Atiku Youth Wing Director-General and now Director-General of The Bridge for Renewed Hope, Hon. Rowland Odih said that Nigerians have become increasingly interested in evaluating leaders on the basis of governance, policy implementation and measurable outcomes.

"The 2027 presidential election should not be reduced to a contest of religious rhetoric or emotional manipulation. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the election on the back of his achievements in office between 2023 till date and not because of the religious identity of any candidate," he said in a Sunday statement signed and made available by the media office of The Bridge for Renewed Hope.

Hon. Rowland argued that the President Tinubu administration has undertaken significant reforms in areas including the economy, education, infrastructure, social investment and national security. He contended that the reforms of the administration are necessary for long-term economic recovery and national development.

He stated that elections in a democratic society should be decided by performance, competence and vision rather than by attempts to divide citizens along religious or ethnic lines.

"Nigeria is a diverse nation. Our diversity should unite us, not divide us. Political actors who believe they can secure victory by exploiting religious sentiments underestimate the political maturity of Nigerians. The electorates deserve campaigns centred on ideas, policies and solutions," he further said.

Hon. Rowland further urged opposition aspirants to engage Nigerians with practical proposals on economic growth, job creation, security, education, healthcare and national development instead of resorting to inflammatory rhetoric capable of deepening divisions.

According to him, "The future of our democracy depends on issue-based campaigns. Nigerians want to know what every candidate has done, what they intend to do and how they intend to improve the lives of ordinary citizens. That is the conversation the country should be having."

He also called on religious leaders, traditional institutions, civil society organisations and the media to continue promoting peaceful political engagement and discouraging narratives capable of undermining national unity.

Hon. Rowland noted that while every Nigerian has the constitutional right to support any candidate of choice, political competition must be conducted responsibly and with respect for the country's diversity.

"The 2027 election should strengthen our democracy and not weaken it. Every candidate should market his ideas and achievements, not exploit the religious beliefs of Nigerians for political advantage. Democracy flourishes when citizens make informed decisions based on policies, leadership qualities and proven capacity," Hon. Rowland further said.

He expressed confidence that the electorates will ultimately judge all contestants based on their records in public service and their respective visions for Nigeria's future.


Hon. Rowland concluded by appealing to Nigerians to reject politics of division and embrace peaceful, issue-driven democratic participation, insisting that the country's progress depends on unity, responsible leadership and the collective determination to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.

Leading President Tinubu support group, The Bridge for Renewed Hope, has expressed support for the recent allegations made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saying the accusations further reinforce concerns about Atiku's suitability to hold the office of President of Nigeria.

Hon. Rowland Odih, former Director-General of Atiku Youth Wing and currently the Director-General of The Bridge for Renewed Hope said in a Saturday statement by the media office of The Bridge for Renewed Hope, that "the 2027 presidential election should not be about personal ambition as is the case of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar but about consolidating the progress already being made under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Hon. Rowland, "Nigeria needs stability, continuity and unity at this critical time. Rather than pursuing another presidential bid, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should put the national interest above personal political ambition by supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in 2027."

He argued that a Government of National Unity would strengthen national cohesion, accelerate economic reforms and provide a united front in tackling the country's security and developmental challenges.

Hon. Rowland maintained that "President Tinubu inherited enormous economic and security challenges but has continued to implement bold reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth."

He therefore called on opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to rally behind President Tinubu in the spirit of patriotism and national development.

In concluding, Hon. Rowland Odih advised former Vice President Atiku that "national unity should take precedence over partisan politics and personal political ambition."

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has launched a blistering attack on former President Olusegun Obasanjo, accusing him of turning former Vice President Atiku Abubakar into an election-year scapegoat every four years.

Frank said it was shameful that Obasanjo, despite serving as President between 1999 and 2007, had allegedly continued to evade responsibility for the record of his administration while repeatedly dragging Atiku into the political mud whenever another election approached.

In a strongly worded statement, Frank described Obasanjo’s repeated attacks on Atiku as an “outdated blackmail pattern” which, according to him, Nigerians had become tired of.

He accused the former President of deliberately shifting blame to Atiku for the failures of an administration in which he himself wielded the ultimate constitutional authority.

Frank said Atiku was instrumental in assembling the technocrats and professionals who, according to him, delivered some of the major achievements credited to the Obasanjo administration.

He therefore challenged Obasanjo to take responsibility for both the successes and failures of the government instead of repeatedly portraying his former deputy as the architect of its problems.

He also referenced the 1999-2007 administration and accused Obasanjo of failing to take responsibility for controversial actions during his tenure, including military operations in Odi, Bayelsa State, and Zaki Biam, Benue State.

“If it is true that Atiku committed all of these things you have constantly accused him of, then we can conclude that you were a full accomplice as you presided over as President, because all the approving powers rested solely within your purview,” Frank said.

He accused Obasanjo of reviving allegations against Atiku whenever elections draw near, describing the former President’s intervention as a predictable political ritual.

“It is now a home movie series where you remember Atiku every four years for the single fact of smearing and gaslighting your ex-VP whenever an election cycle is near,” he said.

Frank declared that Nigerians were no longer interested in what he described as Obasanjo’s “stale and outdated” rhetoric, insisting that the former President should offer fresh ideas instead of recycling allegations against Atiku.

He further accused Obasanjo of assuming the role of a political “spoiler” whenever the country appeared poised for a change of government.

“It is your prerogative not to support Alhaji Atiku, which is constitutional, but using this blackmail tactic is stale and wouldn’t give your preferred candidate victory at the polls,” Frank said.

“We urge you to put a hold to this comedy skit every four years where you are being recruited as a spoiler for which you are known for since your days as military Head of State.”

According to him, Obasanjo should stop attacking Atiku and, if he has a preferred candidate ahead of the 2027 election, openly campaign for that candidate.

“Sell your candidate if you have one at all and refrain from allowing yourself to be used before the issue of Atiku becomes a nightmare that may eventually consume you,” he said.

Frank also dismissed what he described as attempts to portray Atiku as the major obstacle to Nigeria’s progress, arguing that the former vice president had been subjected to numerous investigations without, according to him, producing the outcome his critics have repeatedly alleged.

Turning the attack directly on Obasanjo, Frank alleged that the former President had remained unusually focused on Atiku while failing to devote similar energy to criticising the current administration.

“Atiku isn’t the problem of Nigeria right now and we dare you to criticize the current government like the way you cry about Atiku,” Frank said.

He also challenged Obasanjo to account for controversial actions taken during his presidency, including the military operations in Odi, Bayelsa State, and Zaki Biam, Benue State.

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, said it was hypocritical for Obasanjo to repeatedly put Atiku on trial in the court of public opinion while refusing to confront questions surrounding his own record in office.

“Obasanjo knows the truth that Atiku is eminently qualified and possesses the requisite capacity to lead Nigeria, but doing a hatchet job by criticising him has become a money making business for the Owu Chief. Fortunately, Nigerians are fully aware of this, hence they ignore him,” he said.

He said Obasanjo’s political interventions had also failed to translate into electoral victories for candidates he had backed, arguing that his political influence had been exaggerated.

“Your political value is whitewash and a ruse because any candidate you support has always been defeated at the polls, even in your state of Ogun,” Frank said.

He warned that Obasanjo should be mindful of the consequences of turning his political disagreements with Atiku into a recurring public spectacle.

Frank said Atiku had deliberately maintained his silence and refrained from responding personally to Obasanjo, describing that restraint as maturity.

According to him, Atiku could reveal damaging information about his former boss if he chose to respond publicly.

He urged Obasanjo to conduct himself as an elder statesman and emulate the restraint, in his view, demonstrated by former military leaders including Ibrahim Babangida, Abdulsalami Abubakar and Yakubu Gowon.

Frank said Obasanjo should recognise that political power was ultimately determined by Nigerians and not by any individual political godfather.

“If it is destined for Atiku to become President, neither you nor anyone else can stop it,” he said.

He added: “Hopefully, by God’s grace, you will witness Atiku becoming President before you leave this earth.”

Timi Frank to Tinubu: Publish Trump's 'endorsement' letter or stop deceiving Nigerians



Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has dismissed claims that a reported letter from United States President Donald Trump amounts to an endorsement of President Bola Tinubu's administration, describing it as a routine diplomatic correspondence acknowledging security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States.

Frank who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, challenged the Presidency to publish the purported letter, insisting that any genuine communication from the American President should bear the official White House seal and President Trump's signature.

"The letter is not from the White House. If it doesn't have the White House seal and the signature of the President of the United States, it appears dubious at best," Frank said, questioning the authenticity of the document being celebrated by the Federal Government.

He maintained that, even if the letter exists, it should not be interpreted as political support for Tinubu or his administration.

"The letter only commended Nigeria for partnering with the United States in addressing insecurity. That is the only reason President Trump may have written it. It was not an endorsement of President Tinubu's leadership, his economic policies or his administration. It did not say the Trump administration is backing President Tinubu or supporting him for any election in Nigeria. The Presidency is only trying to change the narrative by presenting it as something more than it is," he said.

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, alleged that the publicity surrounding the reported correspondence was designed to divert public attention from ongoing discussions over the release and circulation of documents relating to President Tinubu's alleged past drug-related matters.

He noted that the letter was reportedly dated July 6 but only came into the public domain much later, arguing that if it truly represented a major political endorsement from President Trump, it would have been publicised immediately rather than surfacing weeks afterward.

Describing such correspondence as routine diplomatic practice, Frank said countries collaborating with the United States on security and other strategic interests frequently exchange letters of commendation, adding that such communication should not be mistaken for political backing.

According to him, the Federal Government's celebration of the reported letter suggested it was seeking international legitimacy and credibility rather than presenting an extraordinary diplomatic achievement.

"By celebrating this 'letter', the government is showing that it is looking for legitimacy and credibility before the international community. If it had confidence in its credibility, it would not make so much of an ordinary diplomatic letter," he stated.

Frank recalled that former President Muhammadu Buhari was invited to the White House during Trump's first term, arguing that such direct engagement carried far greater diplomatic significance than a reported letter.

"President Trump invited Buhari when he was President. They stood together and addressed the world. If Tinubu believes President Trump is impressed with his administration, then he should visit Trump and stand side by side with him so the world can hear directly what he has achieved," he said.

The former APC spokesman also questioned reports that the Federal Government had spent millions of dollars on lobbyists in the United States to improve its international image, arguing that a government enjoying genuine international credibility would have little need for expensive reputation management abroad.

He further maintained that the United States has consistently projected itself as a defender of democracy, the rule of law, electoral integrity and the protection of human rights.

"The United States will never support a government that is corrupt, cannot protect the lives of its citizens, or is tyrannical. America will always stand for democracy, election integrity and the protection of lives. Nigerians should not be deceived by the celebration of this 'letter'.

“The United States remains committed to supporting efforts to address insecurity, protect election integrity and promote democratic values in Nigeria. That should not be mistaken for an endorsement of the Tinubu administration," he said.

Frank insisted that questions surrounding the release of court documents relating to President Tinubu's alleged past drug-related case remained matters of public interest and should not be overshadowed by attempts to derive political capital from what he described as a routine diplomatic exchange. He challenged the Tinubu administration to publish the purported letter allegedly signed by President Trump.

"Ultimately, credibility and integrity cannot be conferred by a letter, a diplomatic exchange or a public relations campaign. They are earned through transparent leadership, accountability, respect for democratic institutions and faithful service to the people," Frank said.

2026 budget: Tinubu's government now synonymous with fraud, corruption, Timi Frank alleges

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has launched a fresh attack on President Bola Tinubu's administration, alleging that the controversy surrounding the 2026 Federal Budget has further entrenched what he described as a government "synonymous with fraud and corruption."

In a strongly worded statement on Wednesday, Frank said allegations of inflated budgetary provisions, fictitious projects and questionable expenditures had reinforced public concerns over transparency, accountability and the management of public resources under the current administration.

He argued that the recurring controversies over government spending had continued to erode public confidence in the administration, insisting that Nigerians were increasingly losing faith in the integrity of those entrusted with public office.

According to him, rather than strengthening accountability and ensuring that public officials implicated in corruption face justice, the administration had allegedly created an atmosphere in which corrupt practices thrive.

Frank said: "The recent revelations and controversy surrounding the 2026 Federal Budget have further reinforced the widespread perception that this administration represents one of the most troubling governments in Nigeria's recent history."

He added: "Allegations of inflated budgetary allocations, fictitious projects and questionable expenditures have once again raised serious concerns about transparency, accountability and the stewardship of public resources."

The political activist alleged that the Tinubu administration had become identified with repeated claims of financial misconduct and poor governance.

"These developments appear to reinforce a pattern in which your administration has become associated with allegations of financial misconduct and questionable governance.

“The recurring controversies surrounding government expenditures have continued to erode public confidence in your leadership and in the integrity of those serving within your administration," he said.

Frank further accused the administration of failing to enforce accountability by allegedly shielding public officials accused of corruption.

"Rather than strengthening oversight and punishing wrongdoing, your administration is perceived as shielding individuals accused of corruption, thereby creating an environment where public officials believe they can misuse public funds without consequence," he stated.

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, also criticised the 10th National Assembly, accusing it of abandoning its constitutional responsibility of providing effective oversight of the Executive.

He specifically faulted the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, claiming the legislature had failed to act as an independent arm of government.

"Rather than serving as an independent institution responsible for holding the Executive accountable, the National Assembly is widely viewed as having abandoned its constitutional responsibility by acting in a manner that appears overly accommodating to the Executive. Such perceptions weaken democratic institutions and undermine the principles upon which constitutional governance is founded," Frank said.

He urged the international community to exercise caution in extending further loans, grants or development assistance to Nigeria, alleging that there were growing concerns about the management of public funds.

Frank also welcomed ongoing discussions in the United States Congress on reviewing assistance to Nigeria, calling on development partners to subject any future financial support to stricter transparency, accountability and monitoring mechanisms.

"I welcome recent discussions within the United States Congress regarding a review of assistance to Nigeria and urge other international partners to ensure that any future financial support is accompanied by strict transparency, accountability and monitoring measures that guarantee the resources directly benefit the Nigerian people," he said.

In one of the most forceful parts of his statement, Frank drew a controversial comparison between internet fraudsters and the current administration.

"The distinction between internet fraudsters, commonly referred to as 'Yahoo Boys,' and this administration, as perceived by many Nigerians, is that while the former target foreign victims through online scams, this government stands accused by its critics of failing to protect the Nigerian people's commonwealth through responsible governance and prudent management of public resources," he alleged.

He, however, urged Nigerians to remain peaceful while demanding accountability from those in government.

"The future of our nation depends on citizens demanding accountability, defending democratic institutions and exercising their constitutional right to vote for leaders they believe will restore integrity, competence and genuine public service to government," Frank said.

Rowland Odih, has on Sunday called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain steadfast in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities and not succumb to pressure from social media campaigns or political sentiments.

Speaking in Abuja and quoted by the media office of The Bridge for Renewed Hope, Hon. Rowland Odih reacted to criticisms reportedly directed at INEC by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) over the Commission's refusal to grant access to its portal code following a court ruling on the party's deregistration.

According to him, Nigeria is governed by the rule of law, and every institution must be allowed to function independently and in accordance with judicial pronouncements.
"INEC must continue to uphold the law without fear or favour. The Commission should not be intimidated by social media pressure or orchestrated campaigns aimed at influencing its decisions. The integrity of our electoral system depends on strict adherence to the Constitution and the rule of law."

Rowland maintained that where a competent court has made a decision, parties who are dissatisfied should seek legal remedies through the appropriate appellate courts rather than attempting to pressure public institutions through media campaigns.

He noted that respect for the judiciary and due process remains essential to preserving Nigeria's democracy and strengthening public confidence in its institutions.

He further urged Peter Obi and his supporters typically known as Obidients, to embrace national unity by supporting the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and backing his re-election bid in 2027.

According to Rowland, President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda has laid the foundation for long-term economic reforms, infrastructure development, institutional strengthening, and national progress, which deserve continuity beyond 2027.

"The time has come for Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliations, to unite behind a shared vision for national development. Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Monday, alleged a fresh plot by the Presidency, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and elements within the judiciary to remove the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from the ballot ahead of the 2027 general election.

Frank warned that any attempt to exclude the ADC and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, from the election would amount to an assault on democracy capable of plunging the country into chaos and anarchy.

In a strongly worded statement, Frank claimed that credible information available to him indicated that the ADC had become the principal target of a coordinated plan aimed at crippling the opposition and entrenching a one-party state.

According to him, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is merely being used as a decoy while the real objective is to ensure that the ADC and Atiku are not on the ballot in 2027.

"We have been reliably informed of a fresh plot to use the judiciary and INEC to remove the ADC from the ballot come 2027. The ADC has always been the main target, while the NDC is merely being used as a decoy.

"The ultimate objective is to ensure that the ADC and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, do not participate in the 2027 election at all costs," he said.

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, claimed that the information was passed to him by a top source within the Presidency who, according to him, expressed concern over the implications of such a move and the damage it could do to Nigeria's democratic image.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and closely monitor what he described as a dangerous pattern being orchestrated by the ruling party in its alleged determination to retain power by every means possible.

"I urge Nigerians to take this warning seriously because a new twist in this plot will soon surface. What is being perfected is a dark agenda designed to silence opposition parties and perpetrate a massive electoral fraud ahead of the 2027 general election," he alleged.

The former APC spokesman also appealed to the international community, particularly the United States’ Government, to intervene to prevent what he described as an impending democratic crisis.

According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration has allegedly abandoned democratic norms and is determined to use state institutions and apparatus to destroy opposition parties, especially the ADC.

"I call on the international community, especially the United States’ Government, to intervene and ensure that Nigeria does not descend into crisis because of the desperation of those in power.

"The current administration has thrown decorum to the wind and appears determined to truncate democracy for selfish political interests by deploying state institutions against the opposition," he said.

Frank further warned INEC and the judiciary against becoming "accomplices" in any alleged anti-democratic plot, saying that Nigerians, the international community and posterity would hold them accountable for their actions.

"We are already aware of what is being planned. Those behind this conspiracy within the Presidency are known to us and their identities will be made available to the international community as individuals who enabled impunity and democratic barbarism in Nigeria," he declared.

He called on Nigerians, political leaders, civil society organisations and all democratic stakeholders to rise in defence of the country's democracy.

Frank also urged opposition leaders and presidential candidates to put aside their differences and unite against what he described as an attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.

"This is the time for all opposition leaders and presidential candidates to come together in defence of democracy. If we fail to act now, we may all have to deal with the grave consequences of our silence and inaction.

"Nigeria's democracy must not be disrupted by the desperation of a few individuals who are determined to hold on to power at all costs," he said.

If elections in Kano were held today, the result would not be in doubt, Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf has earned a second term, and he will win it with a landslide. The reason is simple, results speak louder than rhetoric, and the people of Kano are seeing those results in their daily lives.

Infrastructure You Can Touch

In less than 3 years, the Abba Yusuf administration has transformed Kano’s landscape. Roads that were death traps for decades are now smooth, motorable highways linking rural farms to urban markets. Drainage projects have ended the annual flooding that displaced families. Hospitals have been rehabilitated, primary healthcare centers equipped, and schools rebuilt with modern classrooms.

This is laudable infrastructure not on paper, but on the ground. When a mother in Dawakin Tofa can get to Murtala Aminu Hospital in 20 minutes instead of 2 hours, she remembers who fixed the road. When a farmer in Gaya can move produce without his truck getting stuck in mud, he knows who delivered. Infrastructure wins votes because it changes lives.

The Verdict

Politics is about perception, but perception is shaped by reality. The reality in Kano today is a government that works, a governor who listens, and a state moving forward. Gov. Yusuf’s support cuts across party lines. There is already a growing consensus on the governor’s return, with traders, intellectuals, politicians, students, women, and various groups across the state calling for continuity to ensure stability and progress for Kano State.

That is why Gov. Yusuf will not just win a second term. He will win with a landslide victory that sends a message across Nigeria: when you serve the people sincerely, the people will serve you at the ballot.

The Grassroots Mobilization Network, GMN, a support group of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), has alleged that some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) including the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, are opposed to Justice Peter Lifu’s recusal from the ADC leadership suit.

The group made the claim at the weekend in Abuja, shortly after a meeting.

Speaking to journalists, GMN spokesperson, Comrade Peter Emeka, accused APC leaders of putting pressure on the judge to remain on the case despite the ADC’s request for recusal.

He warned Justice Lifu to “stay off the case and not go throw the country into a needless crisis.”

“Justice Emeka Nwite was handling the case before it was reassigned to Justice Lifu, which many believe is on a mission to derail democracy,” Emeka said.

He further alleged that APC leaders “brag that nothing would happen if the judge refused to withdraw from the case and rule in favour of Nafi’u.”

He also said the FCT High Court judges have disregarded the Supreme Court judgment directing it to expedite action on the matter. Instead, “they took away the case from Justice Nwite,” he added.

He accused the judiciary of meddling in the internal affairs of opposition parties.

“The issue of internal democracy has been settled by the Supreme Court, but the APC and the Federal Government are bent on pursuing this case in order to pave the way for a one party system,” he said.

“Justice Lifu is the late Justice Dahiru Saleh of the infamous June 12 the judge whose ruling led to the annulment of June 12,” Emeka declared.

“The judiciary must not be used to settle political scores. We urge Justice Lifu to recuse himself and allow justice to run its course,” he added.

The ADC leadership tussle has been before the Federal High Court for months.

The Grassroots Mobilization Network GMN, a support group of the African Democratic Congress ADC, has accused Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, of working for the All Progressives Congress (APC), and, its agents.

GMN Secretary General, Usman Bala Idris, made the allegation in Abuja on Wednesday.

He described Justice Lifu as the FCT Minister’s, Chief Nyesom Wike, judge working for Tinubu.

“The case between ADC and Nafiu Bala was deliberately assigned to Lifu to derail the main opposition ADC and stop its candidate from participating in the 2027 election,” Mr. Idris alleged.

According to him, the judiciary was being deployed as a political weapon. “What we are seeing is not justice, it is judicial manipulation to favour the ruling party. Lifu is not acting as a judge, he is acting as an APC operative in a robe.”

Mr. Idris also said, “Nigerians and opposition parties do not have trust in Justice Lifu’s judgment because of his past judgments which defied logic.”

GMN warned the Federal High Court, Abuja, not to truncate democracy, saying “the consequences will be disastrous for the country”.

“Whatever happens to our democracy, the likes of Lifu will be held responsible,” Mr. Idris stated. “Nigerians will remember those who sold their conscience for pecuniary favours.”

He further claimed “Lifu is among those judges being used to scuttle opposition in the country. This is a coordinated plot to weaken every alternative voice ahead of 2027.”

“We call on our elder statesmen and the international community to call the Nigerian judiciary to order,” he added. “If the courts continue on this path, the faith of the people in democracy will collapse.”

Former Bayelsa State Governor and founder of National Democratic Congress NDC, Seriake Dickson, have been alleged to have met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday alongside the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, in a closed door meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Details of the alleged discussion have not been disclosed.

However, a source said the alleged meeting may not be unconnected with reported plans by former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor and NNPP 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to defect to the NDC ahead of 2027.

The source, who requested anonymity, said Dickson and Pate were the last persons the President met before departing the country later on Sunday.

Dickson, a chieftain of NDC, and Pate, a minister in Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress, APC, administration, have not publicly commented on the meeting.

It could not be confirmed if the meeting was in connection to the legal dispute over the registration of the NDC by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The electoral body is being accused of procedural irregularities in approving the official recognition granted the NDC.

Dr Umar Ardo had instituted a matter against INEC alleging that certain established guidelines were breached in the process of the registration of NDC.

The closed door engagement said to have been held in the Presidential Villa came amid heightened realignment talks among opposition figures and reports that Obi and Kwankwaso are exploring a joint ticket under the National Democratic Congress, NDC.

The Grassroots Mobilization Network, GMN, a support group of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has described the judgment of Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court on the party’s leadership dispute as “nothing but judicial rascality.”

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, GMN Secretary Usman Bala Idris said the judgment “is strange to our laws and common sense” and “would not stand the test of time.”

Idris argued that there was no existing court order restraining the party from conducting its affairs, adding that the tenure of the present leadership “remains in place pending the expiration of the tenure on May 12, 2026.”

“There was never a time our party dissolved the present National Executive Committee or National Working Committee. So what warrants the court to issue such a judgment?” he queried.

The GMN accused the judiciary of working “in partnership with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a one party system in Nigeria,” alleging that the judgment fits that pattern.

He further alleged that Justice Abdulmalik “in several cases always goes against the Constitution,” adding that “she always usurps jurisdiction, especially in several of her cases in Rivers. She is always overstepping her boundary in every judgment she gives.”

Idris likened the current political climate to the June 12, 1993 era, “when the judiciary was giving frivolous judgments until the infamous judgment of the late Justice Dahiru Saleh that finally annulled the June 12 election.”

“We are now back in that era. The conspiracy is thick, and all other vital and sacred institutions appear to be in partnership with the one party system,” he declared.

He called on “well meaning Nigerians to act now and save the country.”

“Whether President Tinubu likes it or not, we’re going to contest the 2027 elections with him and he will be defeated flatly. He cannot be a sole candidate. Nigeria is not a Banana Republic,” Idris said.

The GMN statement comes amid an ongoing leadership tussle in the ADC. The matter is currently before the Supreme Court.

A civil society group, the Alliance for Democratic Rights, ADR, has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi is mounting undue pressure on Supreme Court justices to rule against the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Sen. David Mark, and the National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola.

The allegation was contained in a press statement issued in Abuja on Saturday and signed by the group’s spokesperson, Mr. Andy O. Chucks.

According to Mr. Chucks, the Presidency is allegedly using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to intimidate the justices if they fail to “succumb to the bidding of the Federal Government.” He further claimed that some of the justices are being accused over their “bad past” as part of the pressure tactics.

Mr. Chucks also alleged that President Tinubu “swore that ADC cannot be on the ballot for the 2027 general elections.”

“Some northern governors of the ruling APC disclosed to our leaders that the President told them that he is going to use the judiciary to scuttle the ADC,” the statement read.

He further alleged that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, “publicly instructed that ADC should be scattered.”

The ADR said that during the party’s just concluded national convention, the government denied the ADC access to all available public squares until a park garden was secured at the last minute.

Tension continues to mount across the country over alleged government interference in opposition parties’ affairs to pave the way for a one party system, Mr. Chucks said.

He added that legal experts and the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, have condemned what he described as “judiciary meddling in the affairs of political parties despite lack of jurisdiction.”

Citing an insider report, Mr. Chucks said the justices are reluctant to reverse themselves on an issue where the court has delivered a series of judgments, arguing that doing so would erode public confidence in the judiciary a stance that has reportedly angered the Presidency.

He said the international community has also taken interest in the case.

Efforts to reach the Presidency, the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, the EFCC, and the Supreme Court for reaction were unsuccessful as of press time.

The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the ADC leadership suit and said a date will be communicated to the parties.
