EducationRe: Kwara Hijab Controversy: Hoodlums Demolish Secondary School’s Mosque In Ilorin by Johnnyessence(op): 11:16pm On Mar 23, 2021
SpecialAdviser:
Missionary schools built from sweat of Ilorin Yoruba Christians were siezed by Northern military decree and given to be managed by the government.

Same thing happened all over Nigeria. In Igbo land such standard schools lost their credibility immediately the government took over them. Today they produce cultists.

In northern Nigeria, all government schools are built together with mosques inside them with churches not allowed an inch. In northern Nigeria also, all females going to government schools except for Christian dominated areas are forced to wear the hijab. Muslims have always exploited the peaceful nature of Christians for ages.

Why would mosques be allowed to be built in Christian schools? How many schools did Muslims build in Kwara? While Christians invest in building sound education for their generations, Muslims build mosques and centres for Arabic or Muslim education.

Kwara state government should build new schools in these communities, build in both mosques and churches and prescribe that everyone is free to practice what he believes. Hijab can be allowed in the schools. If the Christians wants to continue in their missionary school, they should be free also.

I don't understand this unnecessary tension for crying out loud. Why force the Christians to allow Muslim kids wear hijab in their missionary schools?
you are very right here.

Another report claimed that the school authorities forcefully asked Muslim students of the school to remove their hijabs before being sent back home to allow peace to prevail.

Till tomorrow the youths will be resisting hijab in all the missionary schools. they will fight it with their blood. government caused it to escalate it to this level.

Unidentified hoodlums have demolished Bishop Smith Secondary School’s mosque in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

DAILY POST reports that the demolishing of the mosque which was carried out in the wee hours of Tuesday, occurred a few hours after the state government warned that “It will not condone such reckless behaviours.”

Another report claimed that the school authorities forcefully asked Muslim students of the school to remove their hijabs before being sent back home to allow peace to prevail.

Meanwhile, during a visit to the C&S College, Sabo Oke, in Ilorin, at about 12noon, security agencies were still keeping vigil at the institution, as youths resisted the opening of the school to students and staff in compliance with the directive by the state government.

While elders of the C&S movement agreed that the school be opened to allow students and staff commence classes, the youths who occupied the inside premises of the school remained adamant and ready for the consequences.

The staff and teachers were seen outside the school premises in groups discussing the situation.

DAILY POST gathered that the youths allegedly electrified a part of the school’s gate to make any forceful opening difficult.

However, at about 1.20pm, the gate was eventually opened after a successful dialogue between the angry youths and elders of the C&S movement.

With the opening of the school, all the ten mission schools shut down by the state government over the hijab issue are now fully back to work.

kwara State governor is the brain behind this crisis.
PoliticsHow Muslims Attacked Christians, Vandalised Church – Baptist Conference by Johnnyessence(op):
The President of Kwara Baptist Conference, Reverend Victor Dada, has said over that at least 20 people, including four pastors, were wounded and three hospitalised when Muslim fundamentalists attacked the First Baptist Church Surulere, Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday.

The cleric said the Muslim fundamentalists promised to burn down the three-storey building where Christians were gathered for a peaceful demonstration.

DAILY POST reported that a clash broke out between Christians and Muslims over a controversy bordering on the use of hijab by Muslim students in Christian schools in the state.

Dada, in a statement, alleged that the Muslims threw stones at Christians for over one hour after they overpowered the police, forcefully removed the gate, signboard of the school, injuring over 20 people, including four pastors.

The statement partly read, “Despite that the case is at the Supreme Court and a stay of execution was obtained by proprietors of the mission school, the government announced the use of hijab and reopening of the schools today,” Dada said.

“Christians who were today at First Baptist Church Surulere, Ilorin on peaceful demonstration with drums and trumpets, came under serious attack by Muslim fundamentalists who mobilised themselves and louts in large numbers to attack us.

“More than 20 people (including four Pastors) were wounded with three hospitalised.

“The fundamentalist in the presence of security officials vehemently attempted to burn the church and when repelled, threatened to burn the church either during the day or at night.

“They doused the church gate with petrol and vandalised the auditorium. They also went ahead to vandalise The Apostolic Church, Eruda, Ilorin, a church without any grant-aided school.”

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had earlier said that the state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, should be held responsible should the crisis degenerates.

CAN further called on the President Muhammadu Buhari led government and to intervene in the violence over the hijab policy.

The apex Christian organisation expressed concern that the governor violated the court directive on the matter to maintain status quo on the case.

The ten mission schools recently shut down in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital were reopened on Wednesday by the state government

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Mary Kemi Adeosun, had on Tuesday announced the government’s decision.

However, the decision resulted in violence as Christian staff of the First Baptist Church school defied the government’s directive and stopped the Muslim girls who resumed for classes in their hijab dress code thereby provoking the girls and their parents on ground.

WILLuKPquiet:
You are asking if Islam is STILL a peaceful religion?

Has it ever been?

Go to Iree town in Osun State where there is a Polytechnic called Iree Poly.
The most beautiful up to standard school is Baptist grammar School Iree. Muslim children go there too.

Some years back their parents started problems saying that the school has a Chapel that they need a Mosque too.

Can you imagine!

A mosque in a Christian school? The fight started and when it was turning to a war. The King begged The Nigeria Baptist Convention to please give them a part of the school land to build their mosque.
The Nigeria Baptist Convention accepted and gave them land close to the school gate. They later built one shabby building that is not up to the standard of the Christian Church Toilet. After few years, they extended their portion without consulting the school authority. And made part of it a Car Wash grin.

Anyone who thinks this is a lie should go to Iree and verify.

If I was from a Muslim family I would have changed the moment I became independent from my parents. Ever since I knew this religion, it has been connected with chaos , killings and tears.

Smh
you are right.

Good, let that idol worshiping center called church be demolished. Whether they like it or not kwara is a muslim state. Because of muslim tolerance, we allow christian girls to attend muslim owned school wearing whatever they like, including short skirts, cross necklaces etc Yet we never trampled on their religious freedom. What kind of nonsense religion will even allow girls to dress like prostitutes and go to worship God? If not a fraudulent and fake religion.
All they are afraid of is if they allow muslim girls to go to their schoold with hijab, then the christian girls will start to see the beauty in modesty of muslims and actually get drawn to modesty, thereby eventually converting to islam. thats all what they are afraid of. Somebody in kwara should pls hire a bulldozer and demolish half of that idol worship center in the middle of the night.
you are very clueless with this your thinking. that's why you never live well. keep on living in your deluded state of mind.

Not for presidency, he can't. It's not as if he has built up the sort of following that made Buhari the APC presidential candidate. In fact, Sowore will not even make junior minister in APC, though he might in PDP if he pays somebody.

Sowore is just not organised at all, and I am very disappointed in him. He is the sort of person who should be mobilising youths here on NL, the biggest Nigerian platform, but do you see him here? I don't, and I'm very very dissapointed in him indeed I am.

I love how the appeal court that decided this is in Akure and not in Osun State.

And it is time for my state to dump APC for PDP, though I do not support this for the presidency, yet, especially if they choose Atiku. But if APC chooses that jaguda Tinubu, I guess I'd be in dilemma. If only Sowore or someone else could grow up.

Any suggestions please?
sowore should decamp to APC or PDP now
