gsparks01: their upload speed is still poor. We are unable to use starlink for streaming services at church because of the upload speed. Oh well.... Are you in Lagos?

This is with starlink servers. Try with Ookla speed test, you should see better upload speed gsparks01: The upload speed is one of its biggest drawbacks |

From someone that used Mini extensively before switching to Gen 3, it's more than good enough for you. The Mini's drawback is mainly the router's range. It's weaker (compared to Gen 3 router) but still usable. Since the price difference between the Mini and Gen 3 huge, so the best bang for buck hardware is still the Mini. For some users, the Gen 3 is actually an overkill. Jane111: Thank you for the question o, I never knew that there are two versions of it. I want it for a single family unit, tvs, playstation, phones and laptops, so I guess that would mean i need the standard version? I am in Lagos, around Gowon Estate, Egbeda. |

I got a Gen 3 replacement for my Mini. I'm to return the Mini when the Gen 3 arrives. Starlink already sent prepaid RMA shipping label for the Mini return to my mail. If you're not told to return your hardware, then you don't have to. If you're told to return it and you chose not to, you'd be charged for a full hardware fee. Adaowerri111: Good morning, I got a new replacement from spaceX via DHL for my faulty starlink and with this thread I noticed im suppose to return the faulty one, up till now there is no email about return, pls how do I go about it? |

Check Ecoflow UtchayPro: Hi everyone, please I need suggestions on the best solar solution to go for. The main things I want to power are the starlink mini, my laptop (hp probook 640g2) and my phones. I am going to be in a location where power supply is almost non existent, so I need a good source of power supply to work at least.
I wanted to go for the Lumos L1, but they are only doing complete sale these days (no more instalments).Plus I would like to know how people that have used it like it before I commit to it.
I just need a solar panel + battery combo system that works and the battery can last overnight at least. Main things to power are the starlink mini, laptop and about 2 phones. I will appreciate some suggestions.
Thank you so much. |

Oh. This makes sense. Glad you figured out they kept rejecting your NIN. Stuff like this can be frustrating. UtchayPro: Thank you so so much. Apparently I am understanding now that it might have happened because I now look very different from that picture in my NIN that was captured about 10 years ago because I have added some weight and also have some acne scars. So they said the solution is to update my recent picture with NIN, so I am in the process of doing that, then I will try the starlink verification again. I appreciate that you responded. Thank you so much. |

Hmmmm, you said you're not in the country, could this be IP address related? I know it's highly unlikely but you never know. UtchayPro: Hi everyone, please I need your advice/suggestions.
I ordered Starlink mini from the official website and was required to input my NIN to complete the registration before it can be shipped. Everytime I put in the required details (NIN and live picture), I get the feedback that my live picture does not match the details they have in their records. They also said I should take a picture in a place with good lighting and white background. I have taken numerous pictures in places with very good lighting and background, and none have been accepted. They have even temporarily barred me from attempting to upload any more images. I have downloaded the NIMC app to verify my NIN number, and everything looked fine there.
I'm so confused. What else can I do? I'm not in Nigeria at the moment but I know it's not supposed to affect anything. Or has anything changed with NIN recently? If anyone has experienced something similar, please share and let me know how you solved it. |

Unfortunately, nothing much you can do now than to wait. Hopefully with SpaceX launching more V3 satellites, it'd enable starlink to add more users. Ignore anyone telling you to pay for premium subscription or saying they have a way to help with the activation. joburoh: Hello All,
For those of us that have bought starlink for close to 2 months now and cant activate due to "No Capacity"
what is our hope :' |

Thank you. You've actually answered my question. gsparks01: I'm not sure how you mean sha but the gen2 router does not create a new network but extends it. Before now, while inside the house my devices choose the 2.4ghz but now, all are on 5ghz and signal is full around the house (3 bedroom) |

This is my plan too. Gen 2 or Gen 3 router as wireless mesh node for my Mini. How's the range like with the Gen 2 router (especially for the 5ghz band)? gsparks01: Borrowed a gen2 router yesterday and linked as mesh wirelessly to the mini. Now, speed is so much better. I get the speed that previously I could only get if I stepped out of the house. |

Unfortunately, not everybody can mount on the ground. Obstruction plus make men no go steal my starlink Godblessme1: see the solution to your problem mount your mini dish on the ground like a 3 feet pole. Allow it to face open up directly without anything blocking it, it will go round your house better and faster.
What block your internet is house aluminium guard or parapet.
I live in a big house, very big house with a land measurement of 100ft by 150 ft, the network goes round all the compound and all the rooms because we mount the dish on the ground.
Try it and get back to me you'll thank me. |
