Benue State Police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni today said that prince Messenger Tar has been arrested for allegedly masterminding the trafficking of 23 people.. He was caught while conveying the 23 people out of the state in an 18-seater bus belonging to a transport company known as Benue Links. Owoseni said the police suspected that the victims, who are between the ages of 12 and 45, were being transported illegally for trafficking purposes. He said: “ Investigation revealed that the victims were lured by the suspect on promises of providing them with jobs at Kiama in Kwara State but that they were actually going to be taken outside the country to Niger for exploitation. The victims would be handed over to their parents/guardians while the suspected trafficker will face the law.” The suspect, however, denied that he was trafficking the people for exploitation. He told newsmen during his parade by the police that he had a restaurant in Kwara state and had wanted the two ladies among the alleged victims to work for him, having settled their parents of the sum of N10,000 monthly salary. He added that the other victims were only going to join their relatives living in Kwara state. https://www.pressnewsng.com.ng/2018/04/benue-state-prince-arrested-for.html?m=0

it's so so unfortunate that the current ghanian president is old too. he is 75+.i pray that Ghana government resolve this issues on time. |
On Wednesday, public-sector graduate teachers in pre-tertiary institutions across Ghana declared an indefinite strike over unpaid salary arrears. President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbonu, at a news conference said the teachers took the decision due to the deliberate actions and inaction of the government regarding the arrears. “We have no other alternative but to advise ourselves. When the senior high schools reopen on April 16, nobody should expect our members to be present,” said Carbonu. According to him, no convincing reasons have been given by the government for the non-payment of the salary arrears after a series of meetings between the two parties. “What we see are orchestrations, tactics, maneuvering and manipulations employed by the Ministry of Finance to drag its feet and possibly refuse to repay the arrears at all,” the NAGRAT president added. The arrears, amounting to 50 million cedis (11.33 million U.S. dollars) accrued from 2013 are in respect of salary adjustments, up-grading and promotions, vehicle maintenance allowance as well as transfer grants. Carbonu said it also included the salaries of newly recruited teachers into the Ghana Education Service (GES) who had taught for several months but were yet to be paid. The strike action by the graduate teachers is set to have a toll on education, as final-year students in senior high schools here began writing their West African Secondary School Certificate Examination on Tuesday. The teachers are usually engaged as invigilators and supervisors for the examinations. https://www.pressnewsng.com.ng/2018/04/ghanaian-teachers-embark-on-indefinite.html?m=0

The right-wing government in Australia today announced that girls attending day care centres and elementary schools should no longer be wearing headscarves announcing a plan to draft a new bill. “The veiling of small children should definitely have no place in our country,” conservative Chancellor Sebastian Kurz told reporters after a meeting. He said that the step will curb gender discrimination against girls and prevent the development of marginalized “parallel societies” within Austria. “It’s important to take a stance against political Islam. We want to make sure that children grow up free and that they are not pulled into these [Islamic] mechanisms,” added Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache of the far-right Freedom Party. Small girls with headscarves are not a large-scale phenomenon in Austria. When a asked for statistics that underpin the new policy, Kurz was not able to provide numbers but said that “it is a growing problem.” Half a year ago, a ban on face veils came into effect in Austria, a policy that likewise affects only a small number of people. So far, police have cited only 50 transgressors. To pass the new headscarf ban for girls, the two right-wing government parties need the support of one opposition party in parliament, to secure a necessary two-thirds majority. Social Democrats and Liberals signalled Wednesday that would consider the bill, while calling for a package of integration policies rather than symbolic steps like a ban. https://www.pressnewsng.com.ng/2018/04/austrian-government-bans-headscarf-for.html?m=0

Mark Zuckerberg has publicly responded to Apple CEO Tim Cook's harsh criticism about the way Facebook handles the private information of its users. He called Cook's argument " extremely glib ". The tiff between two of the most powerful men in Silicon Valley started last week when Cook was asked what he would do if he were Zuckerberg in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal. He responded saying "I wouldn't be in this situation." The Apple CEO went on to denounce social media platforms for monetizing users and their corresponding private data. His larger point was that social media services are free, but in order to remain that way, the companies must sell advertising based on some user information and of course, Zuckerberg defended this practice. "You know, I find that argument, that if you’re not paying that somehow we can’t care about you, to be extremely glib," Zuckerberg said in a recent Ezra Klein Show podcast published by Vox. "And not at all aligned with the truth," Zuckerberg added. "The reality here is that if you want to build a service that helps connect everyone in the world, then there are a lot of people who can’t afford to pay. And therefore, as with a lot of media, having an advertising-supported model is the only rational model that can support building this service to reach people." What's perhaps most shocking in this feud between two of the world's richest people is that Zuckerberg dragged another billionaire into the conversation. "I thought Jeff Bezos had an excellent saying on this in one of his Kindle launches a number of years back," Zuckerberg said in the Ezra Klein interview. "He said, 'There are companies that work hard to charge you more, and there are companies that work hard to charge you less.' And at Facebook, we are squarely in the camp of the companies that work hard to charge you less and provide a free service that everyone can use." The 33-year-old billionaire finished his thought by saying that he thought it was absurd to think that charging customers money was the best way to show you have their interest in mind. "To the contrary, I think it’s important that we don’t all get Stockholm Syndrome and let the companies that work hard to charge you more convince you that they actually care more about you," he said. "Because that sounds ridiculous to me." As for who has the last laugh, that appears to be pretty heavily favoring Mr. Cook at the moment. Facebook lost more than $40 billion in market value in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica user privacy controversy. https://www.pressnewsng.com.ng/2018/04/mark-zuckerberg-fires-back-at-tim-cooks.html?m=0

Big Brother Naija housemate Ceec is no doubt one of the most popular contestants this season. Her personality interests and intrigues people and now, Nigerian journalist Yetunde Olayemi has said the best thing her fans can do for her is to stop voting for her. According to her, 'she needs to come home badly. She is screaming for help like crazy but it seems the majority of her thriving fans do not see this need. Seems to me like she has some personality disorder and needs to wake up from whatever castle she has built up in her head. The big brother platform I think couldn’t care less whatever happens to her psyche. She is damaged and needs help fast. It is rather unfortunate that her shortcoming is playing out on national television. Her sister claims that she did not raise a bitter woman but that is exactly what she is'. She added that, 'Cee C is a bitter, proud, nasty, shallow and close-minded woman. Her way is the only way, her view is this only view. Cee C is borderline NARCISSISTIC. Before you eat me up, you know within your heart that after all is said and done, you will NOT employ someone like Cee C in your outfit neither will you knowingly entrust her with any delicate information as it pertains her profession, LAW. But what do I know… Remember, this is from a place of love'. https://www.pressnewsng.com.ng/2018/03/bbnaija-cee-c-is-bitter-proud-nasty.html?m=0

. Our grannies in Nigeria? GTFOH. Lol , fool , survival is not a Nigerian thing , it's a human trait. You have been treated and made to believe you aren't human for long enough , that's why you think having human traits is something extra ordinary
. Yes, you must survive the pithole you have created for yourselves.
