What does Ghigho mean? I can infer from my little knoweldge of Eastern Yoruba dialects that Aghofen means palace.

I believe most people have problem with English language most especially as it is not our language.

This picture that most Urhobos are using to decieve people because they themselves are far from reality. When you look at the top the person wrote OLU OF ITSEKIRI but when you look under it says OLU OF ITSEKIRIS. The difference here is the word "S" when the letter "s" is added to a whole tribe, it is no longer referring to the tribe but the people of that tribe.

OLU OF ITSEKIRIS written here mean he is the king of the people of Itsekiri not the tribe ITSEKIRI. There is difference between Yoruba and Yorubas, Igbo and Igbos, Urhobo and Urhobos, Itsekiri and Itsekiris because one is the tribe but the other is the people of the tribe. WARRI PROVINCE (this is whe whole landmass called DELTA STATE today.

The word OLU OF ITSEKIRI was never gazetted because the Itsekiris (the people of Itsekiri) says thier king as always been the OLU OF IWERE/ WARRI before the interregnum that was stop around 1932.

In the second map, you can see the word ROY' D AWERRI( KINGDOM OF WARRI). This was a map done long before AWOLOWO was born by the French. ROY is a short form of ROYAHUEME meaning kingdom by the French language. Logically in the native sense this king must have a title which the Itsekiri called OLU(KING) IWERRE (WARRI). how can someone says AWOLOWO change this or that? Can there be a kingdom without a king? Or did the French documented a kingdom that didn't exist? Urhobo make una rest.

The third map show that all the locations of the Europeans maps is the same location we call WARRI today that belong to the Itsekiris recognize by the government.

The last map is the map of the then WARRI PROVINCE (today Delta State). In this map we have

The name warri was use to bind the whole land called Delta State today (exccept Asaba area that was in Benin province) as a single entity. In this map the tribe ITSEKIRI is not written but the name of thier land(warri).
when the OLU was crown with the title OLU of Warri in 1932, the Urhobos and ABOH object it because the name warri was binding thier land and it would seem the OLU OF WARRI is thier king also. This was the reason the British prevailed on the Itsekiri to bear Olu of Itsekiris untill they changed the name of the region.

It was AWOLOWO time the British finally agree to change the title of the OLU to OLU OF WARRI after many petition by the Itsekiris and directed the case to AWOLOWO who was the head of the western region. AWOLOWO implemented it, he was not the one who changed it as many are postulating. He later change the name of the region to DELTA PROVINCE after Urhobos protested. This now allow the Itsekiri to bears thier historical title OLU OF WARRI.
This period was there any urhobo king in the warri that is regards as Itsekiri land?

1.Warri Southwest.
This local government area comprising of Ijaws and Itsekiri.
Majority are Ijaws, even Itsekiri accept.
LGA headquarters. Ogbe-Ijoh an Ijaw town.



2.Warri North.
Comprising of Ijaws and Itsekiri again.
LGA headquarters
Koko an Itsekiri town.


3.Warri South.
Comprises of Itsekiri Urhobo and Ijaw.

An Urhobo town.


Till today, Itsekiris don't even full just one local government on their own, that they don't share with others.
Apart from this 3 Warri LGA, that they share with other tribes in all of the lga, no Itsekiris in Delta state again.
Below is a picture of the Olu of Itsekiri and never Olu of Warri before, Awolowo came and caused problems for the Ijaws, Itsekiri and the Urhobo of the 3 Warri LGA.

You are very funny indeed, just to bring up a case of 282.1 acre of land won by IGHOGBADU, OKI, IDAMA FAMILIES as a possessory right in IDIMI usobo quarter of Okere community. We the Itsekiri never argue that this case was never won by the family, how does winning 281.1 acres of land transcend into Urhobos owning warri. The said case also maintain that they do not challenge the OLU OF WARRI title over the land.

Note that they did not win Okere community but a very tiny potion of it as a possessory right.

Show me cases where they won Agbassa, igbudu, EDJEBA etc

It very easy to spew words and call them facts. Where is your evidence that "Agbassa, Igbudu, Edjeba etc" were awarded to itsekiri in any court in Nigeria. I have shown you evidence of the 1975 judgement here referenced

One thing we fail to understand is that kings rule over land not just a particular tribe. Anyone been it settler in the land is under the king that rule over the land. Usobo drift down to warri either to trade or were brought in as slaves then(this is one truth that modern urhobo youth don't want to hear) during the slave trade to work or farm for Itsekiri powerful merchants. Do you know that nearly all NANA OLOMU workers were usobos.

The Agbassa, Igbudu, EDJEBA etc that u people are mentioning are you people not aware that they were all won by the Itsekiri in the court of law? That shows your so call kingdom is on land own by another person. Are you people not aware that the court said "apart from an Itsekiri everyone living in Warri are tenant to the OLU OF WARRI? U people should stop decieving other tribes in NAIRALAND

The fact that today politicians creat small small kingdoms for usobo and ijaws in Warri doesn't make them owner because ijaws and Urhobos settlements in warri were all won by the Itsekiris when they think they have grown enough to take Itsekiris to court.

Even the law says that if any man live in your land for 100yrs, he is part of that land. This is why Urhobos and ijaws are now saying they are co- owners in Warri. Democracy says everyone have freedom of everything, so Urhobos are giving right and kingdom in Warri not as owner but because of the law and what democracy stand for.

UGBO-LOKPOSO in Uvwie was not given land by any usobo if usobo gave land to them how come they won 2/3 of the Uvwie LGA. The fact is that in those days Itsekiris had a mean of transport (canoes) which they can use to get to distant places and found new places unlike usobos who had no mean of transport but leg. This is the reason Itsekiri today found thier self in most places but not enough population to occupy most of thier land and because of this mean of transport, you will observe that thier lands are always connect to the river. Usobos who later came to tap palm wine or farming mostly came with much population to overshadowed Itsekiri but Itsekiri were wise early enough to document thier land and transaction with usobo. I have gone through the article. Originally, the Itsekiris were known as Iwerre's. But the Portuguese pronounced as "Warri".. What you people should understand now is that the geographical location or area presently known as Warri extends beyond the Itsekiri kingdom, this is actually the crux of the whole issue here.

No one is disputing the Olu being the king of Warri which original was known as Iwerri i.e King of the Itsekiris. Warri actually begins from Enerhen junction which boundaries Effurun (Uvwie LGA) to those other areas as Agbasa, Igbudu, Okere, Iyara, Deco, Eboh, Angle park, Airport road beginning from the Edjeba axis, Ogunu, Ugbuwangue, Ubeji, Ogbe-ijor, to the riverine like Omadinor, Obodo, Gbaramatu etc and then down to Koko after Oghara along Benin Warri express way. All of these places are homes to either the Itsekiris, the Ijaws or the Urhobos. Warri actually encompasses 3 LGA's. My question is, does it mean the Olu is lord over all these other people? The Itsekiris are the original indigenes and all the others are settlers?

How can u imagine a king of urhobo as u claim give land to another king to build a palace in a place he call his own yet at that time he had no palace of his own?

For instance the king of ondo will give land to the oba of Benin in his land to build a palace when for long they have Been rivary. Pls look for who to decieve

What do you know by the word WARRI PROVINCE? Warri province is referring to the whole of Delta state. In those old days the word WARRI was use to bind all land in the now Delta as a single entity though there was a place actually known as Warri which now comprise the three warri LGA.
