If you are willing to make heaven, summit to God in totality not trying to modify HIS words to suite yours.

It shall be well with us in Jesus name

Car TalkPre-safety Check On Vehicle by Jolomsguy(op): 3:34pm On May 17, 2012
How do you see the importance of walking around the car before driving?!

You can see in this picture, this young child in the wheel well of the truck. A Pike crew working for another Utility found this child while conducting a CIRCLE OF SAFETY of the company truck the crew members were driving. I don’t want to think about what would have happened if the employee had gotten in the truck and drove off without doing a walk around. Please share this eye opening, bone chilling photo and experience with your work groups.

This crew has also reported children climbing into the back of company vehicles. Keep in mind children will be out of school on summer break soon so be sure to watch out for them!!

Just another reason for us to do the vehicle CIRCLE OF SAFETY before driving off in our personal vehicles.

- As Junior police officers, military grumble

- Investigating panel gets vital evidence

INSPECTOR-General of Police (IGP), Hafiz Ringim and Police Commissioner attached to Zonal Criminal Investigation Department Zone 7 Police Headquarters, Abuja, Zakari Biu may have been indicted by the Police and the NSA Investigation Panel set up to probe the escape of Kabir Umar Sokoto recently in Abaji, an outskirt of Abuja, just as a frightening state of fear and anxiety now envelops the nation's security apparatus. This alarming situation is as a result of the violent cases of Boko Haram activities and the seeming inability of the security organs to clinically crush the ugly menace.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soldiers and Police officers of the junior cadre are the most devastated by the poor security situation which has persisted despite their gallant effort to normalize things. The junior officers are said to be unsatisfied with the conduct of their superior officers who they tenaciously hold responsible for increase in violent activities in the country, particularly the northern region.

“Junior officers in the military and Nigeria Police are very unhappy with the security situation in the country they believe the senior officers have not done enough to checkmate the situation. They are concerned that they have lost scores of their colleagues to recent uprisings whose end appear not to have finally ended.” Competent security sources said.

National Daily learned that underlings in the military and Nigeria Police Force have equally indicted their superior colleagues over the bungling of investigations and the shabby handling of the Boko Haram issue. Most of the officers accused their bosses of misappropriation of security funds, ethnic chauvinism and of being secret members of the Islamic fundamentalist sect.

“We are not adequately paid for our peace keeping operations in the country and in most cases we go to crisis zones without adequate security gadgets. We are tired of being cannon fodders to the fat cats in the system. The Boko Haram people are always ahead of us in information gathering and management. When we get an instruction to carry out some security measures against them (Boko Haram) they would get information on what we are about to do hours before we could carry out such information.” Our sources said, adding: “Junior Police officers suspect that their senior colleagues are on the weekly payroll of the Boko Haram religious sect apart from being their secret members.”

Junior officers in the National Security Agencies such as SSS are also disgruntled with their senior colleagues for management of the national security. These officers are said to be lamenting that Nigerian Security seem to have collapsed giving room for unwanted anarchy in the land.

Competent sources told National Daily that the allegation being raised by junior officers seemed to have been buttressed with the scandalous escape of Boko Haram kingpin, Kabir Sokoto who was arrested three weeks ago at Borno State Governor's lodge, Abuja but escaped the next day when he was being led in a Toyota Hilux van to Abaji, his FCT residence by about 10 armed Policemen for a search.

Damaging facts

Recent inquiries may have established that the rescue operation was allegedly masterminded by FCT Commissioner of Police, Zakari Biu who is being accused of arranging the irate youths who attacked the Policemen and set Sokoto who was in handcuff free.

“Zakari Biu is among the unpopular senior police officers today. The junior officers were shocked when he was re-engaged in the police force after the atrocities he committed under Abacha regime. It is a shame that no thorough security check was carried out on him before he was restated. That man is a religious fundamentalist,” Police sources disclosed.

Soon after Sokoto's escape in a TV movie like fashion, Biu and all the Police officers suspected to have been involved in the plot were arrested and detained. Sources said Biu at press time was unable to satisfactorily answer the query issued to him even in the face of a damning evidence of previous interaction between him and Boko Haram sect members.

Kabir Sokoto was alleged to be the mastermind of the Christmas day bombing at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State which left several worshippers dead.

Investigation has so far cast a doubt on the patriotism and professionalism of most senior police officers from the northern part of the country because of their bias towards the Islamic fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram. These officers are said to be ineffective and lukewarm in carrying out security instructions as it concerns the activities of Boko Haram in their region of assignment.

“The presidency is highly disturbed about this development and may be forced to streamline the background of officers in the expected shake-up in the police force. The presidency has lost confidence in the leadership of the Nigeria Police. It is suspected that the days of the incumbent Inspector-General Rafiz Ringim has been numbered.

National Daily gathered that some of these senior officers including those in the Police Headquarters, Abuja, hold regular nocturnal meetings with Boko Haram members where they divulge sensitive information and allegedly discuss how the suspects will beat the security after a successful act of terrorism.

Devastating terror

Between November 2011 and January 2012, there has been an unending incidents of bomb blast and other violent killings allegedly masterminded by Boko Haram. The impact of the sallah day explosions in Maiduguri which left three people dead in November 2010, is freighting so also the killing of two worshippers at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Tabak village in Zango Kataf, Kaduna State in December 2011, an explosion reportedly rocked Kaduna and Yobe States in December 2011, also in the same month gun men suspected to be Boko Haram members stormed Air Force Comprehensive Secondary School, Dawakin Tofa LGA, Kano State killing four Air Force Officers. The Islamic sect continued their violent onslaught when they stormed Deeper Life Bible Church in Gombe and shot several worshippers dead in the wake of an ultimatum purportedly given to Christians to leave northern Nigeria.

Last week Friday, about 120 persons were feared dead when series of coordinated bomb explosions rocked Kano State. One of the blast suspected to have been carried out by a suicide bomber reportedly killed three police officers at Zone 1 Police Headquarters, Sharada and office of the State Security Service Ginginyu was also attacked.

Boko Haram which was allegedly formed by late Muhammed Yusuf in 2002 has so far killed an estimated 571 persons in 2011 alone. More than 72 persons have been killed by the sect in 2012, especially after the sect issued a three day ultimatum that Christians should vacate the north.

President Goodluck Jonathan was so disturbed by the volatile security situation that he declared a state of emergency in parts of four states mostly hit by the attacks blamed on Boko Haram.

Shopping for new IGP

National Daily competent sources disclosed that the president has lost confidence in the Inspect-General of Police, Hafiz Ringim and may have begun shopping for his replacement. The president's initiative was also precipitated by the escape of bomb suspect, Kabir Umar and the IGP's unsatisfactory respond to the query issued to him by the police affairs ministry.

Sources said that it was the presidency which directed the Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade to issue the IGP with the query based on the fact that the buck stops on his table as the boss of the Nigerian Police.

It was gathered that a committee of Security experts constituted by the National Security Adviser (NSA), General Owoeye Azazi, which was mandated to investigate the escape of Kabir Sokoto and the veracity of the IGP's account on how Sokoto escaped has made an interesting finding though it still has one more week to complete its report.

“I can tell you that the report is not favourable to Ringim and Biu. Undercover security agents gave evidence against them. Ringim was said to have once in an unguided moment expressed religious sentiment to the hearing of some of his colleagues. It is certain that Biu will be retired or even charged to court for aiding Sokoto's escape and in the case of Ringim, his carrier is racing towards a scandalous finish. The president doesn't trust him anymore.” Our security source said.

National Daily learned that the investigating security team comprises of senior Police officers, military officers, SSS and Ministry of Police Affairs have almost concluded their assignment and is set to recommend that Ringim and Biu should be retired from the Nigeria Police. Sources said after this committee's report, another team from the NSA's office will study the report before it is finally given to the president.

Ignoble exit

“The Police Affairs Minister issued a query to the IGP which he replied allegedly blaming Sokoto's escape on fifth columnists who leaked the intelligence on their trip to Abaji that day to Boko Haram members. He explained that he took every reasonable step as the head of police to ensure that Zakari Biu executed his instructions conclusively but was shocked by his failure to do so.”

It was gathered that the IGPs written response to the query issued to him did not totally satisfy the Police Minister and NSA who accordingly set up the investigating team.

“It is one thing to answer a query, another is to look at the contents, whether the response is factual or it contradicts available information,” our source said.

Sources disclosed that Ringim's predicament may be fuelled by senior police officers who did not want him to continue in office beyond the expiration of his tenure next month.

“There is a crack in the top echelon of the Police force. The situation was caused by several issues including the IGP's alleged disposition towards ethnicity, favoritism, vindictiveness and religious bias. But I think some police officers were also opposed to the speculation that Ringim's tenure will be extended next month,” our security sources said.

National Daily enquiries revealed that President Goodluck Jonathan has instructed the NSA to work with some members of his kitchen cabinet to recommend a competent police officer to replace Ringim who he no longer wants to retain in February 2012.

Currently, there are five Deputy Inspector-Generals of Police. But the president could finally pick an AIG as the new police boss which will in effect lead to the retirement of all DIGs. Ringim was an AIG when he was appointed on September 10, 2010 by President Jonathan.

Sources said the president is under intense pressure to pick the next IGP from the south following the example of former President Olusegun Obasanjo who picked all the bosses from the South-West. However, Jonathan seem to have decided to retain the IGP slot in favor of the North but allegedly favors a detribalized officer who also is not a religious fundamentalist.

However, the next senior officer after Ringim is Mrs Ivy Okoronkwo and Mr Azubuko Uda both from the South-East Zone. Other DIGs include Alhaji Sadauna Abubakar (North-West), Audu Abubakar (North-East), Mohammed Yesufu (South-South) and Saleh Abubakar (North-Central).

Nigerians are of the believe that President Goodluck Jonathan will be guided by his pathetic confession on the infiltration of his regime by Boko Haram sect members when he finally name Hafiz Ringim's successor.
