Following the visit of the All Progressive Congress flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, to the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, after the party's primary election, and the governor's decision to support Tinubu in the spirit of sportsmanship by handing over his campaign office to the party candidate, youths from various quarters have warned that they would not work for the APC and that they only supported the party because the governor and then presidential aspirant was one of them. The youths' stance, as evidenced by their reactions on various social media platforms, is seen as a major threat to the APC's victory in the 2023 election, as they constitute the country's largest voting population. In their various comments, they stated that they worked for the party because of Governor Bello who was in charge of registration and revalidation exercise of the party that featured registration of millions of Nigerian youths. "We are naturally nonpartisan and would prefer to support another candidate rather than the APC. According to them, the APC government has kept youths out of leadership positions and knocked them off the presidential contest, and that young people are ready to take back the country and start over. This is also evident by the huge youth drive the Peter Obi campaign has witnessed.
