Politics'I've Come To Spread Prosperity People Can See And Feel' - JOK by Jonah2022(op): 12:40pm On May 19
Abia State: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu, has said that his major interest in aspiring to lead Abia as a governor is to spread prosperity people can see and feel in the state and completely industrialise the state and improve all facets of life in the state through innovation.

Kalu, speaking after having a successful screening by the PDP governorship screening committee, led by HE Ahmed Maikarfi, described the screening exercise as smooth and successful, stressing that it is basically what he actually expected from a great party like the PDP.

Answering questions from newsmen after the screening, Kalu said that it will be an honour for him to contest the governorship election under a party he trusts so much and has been a member of since 1999 without defecting to another party, no matter the trials and temptations.

Responding to more questions about the current administration in Abia State and achievements listed, Kalu urged Nigerians to beware of propaganda, stressing that those present in Abia already know the reality, as opposed to people outside Abia and in the diaspora who believe the propaganda hook, line and sinker.

"What we have now is a government of 90 per cent propaganda and 10 per cent substance. He tells you that he had done 51 smart schools; of course, you can verify from the state account that 54 billion naira was taken away for 51 smart schools, and they do not exist anywhere in Abia State, but you believe him.

"He tells you that he has a rail station, but there is none. He tells people that he built a flyover, but he built none. Just like you believe that Dr Alex Otti did Ariaria International Market remodelling, which I obviously did from scratch to finish as a commissioner for trade and investment.

"So, you're free to believe whatever you wish because you're not from Abia, nor do you work there. Those from Abia know Abia well, and once I move, they'll all stand behind me," Kalu said while responding to the question of a newsman who probably does not work in Abia State.

Answering more questions, Kalu said he wants to change the narrative of governance in Abia, stressing that he is not a man known for interest in unnecessary wealth accumulation, which he described as the major bane of leadership in the country.

"Ask my people; you served in government for 8 years and came out poorer.

"Probed repeatedly by all kinds of agencies in Nigeria without fault, it means you're not a man who's interested in stealing. I think it is a capital sin to steal from the people in order to become wealthy.

"I'm a man who's interested in making sure that every Abia tertiary institution student gets at least 100,000 naira as an annual bursary from the state. I'm a man who's interested in sending at least 100 Abians abroad every year for academic purposes. I want to make sure our least ranked civil servants earn a minimum of one hundred and twenty thousand naira (N120,000) as an after-tax minimum and get regular promotion, wage adjustments and allowances with others.

"I'm a man who's interested in building more industries, particularly in the garment and shoe clusters, for the employment of young Abians," he said.

Responding more on governance, Kalu said that his interest is beyond road construction, adding that in his own rating of governance, road construction is elementary, as it only involves signing a contract for it to be done by others.

"There's no innovation there. Of course I'll build roads and flyovers where necessary. I see the traffic need for a flyover at Waterside Ogbor-Hill, Aba, and I'll deliver that. I see a need for it at Isi Gate, Umuahia, and of course in my community in Abiriba where people are dying because of Ugwu Enuda."

Responding to questions about agriculture and education Kalu said, "If you're talking about agriculture, I'll let you know that I've always seen how Abia will show Malaysia that there's nothing special they've done with the Tenera palm seedling that we can't do much better here."

Going further, he said, "We shall put special focus on palms and proliferate so much that people will want to rename Abia Palm State. Palm trees will be in your face when you visit Abia on my watch.

"Abia has some of the best brains in Africa. I recall how Abia came first four consecutive times in the West African Senior Examination. I understand the need for the health care of my people, and I have a plan that states that every senatorial district must have at least two tertiary health institutions that will link up with the primary health care facilities through telemetry.

"Look at our schools; the current government is deceiving themselves and not Abians with smart schools' fake stories. However, we'll come differently because most of our schools are not good to behold anymore.

"The first move I'll make is to secure our public schools by fencing them round, building accommodations for teachers, headmasters, and headmistresses to reside in their places of assignments in Abia State, and establishing permanent security to protect the facilities we'll be putting in place. Without securing the schools, you cannot deploy meaningful learning equipment, and our beloved children won’t be safe. I love Abia schoolchildren and will surely secure them and their teachers on my watch.

'Smart School will be a joke compared to what we're coming up with. 11 years ago, I witnessed a graduation ceremony of a primary school abroad, and I felt ashamed of myself.

"I told my wife that I want to put up something like that as a private person because I own one. However, I now want to execute my plan in Abia State, and I believe we can do it if we end the stealing of public funds.

TravelProphet Demands Govt Intervention Over Passport Seizure At French Embassy by Jonah2022(op): 1:53pm On May 04
A concerned Nigerian, Prophet David Kingsley Eli, has issued an urgent call for government intervention over the alleged unlawful retention of Nigerian passports and unfair visa processing by the French Embassy in Lagos.

In a statement released on Saturday, Prophet Elijah decried what he described as hostile, unprofessional, and discriminatory treatment meted out to Nigerian applicants by the French consular services.

According to him, many Nigerians, including business professionals, students, and families, have had their international passports held by the embassy for over two months without any updates or final decisions on their visa applications.

He argued that the prolonged retention of Nigerian passports infringes on citizens’ fundamental right to freedom of movement, stressing that a passport remains the property of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and should not be indefinitely seized by a foreign mission.

The statement further highlighted the economic implications of the alleged bottlenecks, noting that the delays and high visa refusal rates are hurting trade relations and discouraging Nigerian investors from engaging with French markets.

Prophet Elijah urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigerian Immigration Service to urgently take diplomatic action, enforce reciprocity measures, and protect the rights of Nigerian passport holders.

He emphasised that Nigeria, as a major economy and key trading partner to France in Africa, deserves fair and dignified treatment for its citizens.

The activist promised to continue monitoring the situation and advocating for affected Nigerians until the matter is resolved.

This development comes amid growing complaints from Nigerians about visa processing challenges at several foreign embassies in the country.

Other Key achievements noted by the traditional rulers include ;Combating Gender-Based Violence: The introduction of the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Mobile Court, which successfully reduced incidences to a minimum. She also Tackled Campus Harassment: The institution of the “Integrity Brigade” Initiative, which united students and university administrators against sexual harassment. PoliticsNIGERIA: Seyi Tinubu Inaugurates State Coordinators For RTIFN In Abuja by Jonah2022(op): 9:47am On Feb 05
Founder-in-Chief of the pro-administration advocacy group Relax! Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN), Mr Seyi Tinubu, has presided over the official inauguration of state coordinators of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's support group at a high-profile ceremony held in Abuja on Wednesday.

The event marked a key milestone in the group's expansion, formalizing the appointment of coordinators across Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

RTIFN, a youth-focused movement, aims to bridge the gap between the federal government and citizens by disseminating accurate information on President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, countering misinformation, and encouraging Nigerians to "relax" amid ongoing economic reforms while trusting in the administration's vision for national progress.

In his welcome address, National Coordinator Hon. Ahmed Bala welcomed attendees and conveyed a message from Seyi Tinubu, who was unable to attend in person due to prior commitments. He stated, “Before we continue, I wish to convey a message on behalf of our Founder-in-Chief, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, who sends his heartfelt apologies for not being able to attend in person due to unavoidable commitments. He extends his warm regards and full support for today's event and expresses deep gratitude for your dedication.”

Hon. Bala described the coordinators as the backbone of the organization, saying “The coordinators appointed across the various states form the backbone of our operational network. Each of you represents a vital link between our national vision and the communities we aim to reach. Your responsibilities are important, your roles significant, and your commitment deeply appreciated.”

He added “As state coordinators, you hold positions of trust. You are expected to uphold the values of this organization, ensure effective communication, foster collaboration, and provide direction within your respective states. Your leadership will determine not only the strength of our structure but also the unity and effectiveness of our collective efforts.”

“As we embark on this new chapter, let us do so with dedication, integrity, and a shared commitment to meaningful service. By working together with focus and purpose, we can build stronger systems, nurture teamwork, and contribute positively to the continued growth of our Nation under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he concluded.

Speaking to journalists during the event, the Matron of the group and former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, who represented Seyi Tinubu, explained the group’s name and mission. She said, “Fixing means a continuous activity. Not as fixed. We are believers in the action of Mr. President, in the renewed hope agenda, in the policies that have been brought, because we know and we are seeing the changes.”

Highlighting key reforms, she stated, “Removal of that subsidy was for the courageous, and he did. Just like the man of many firsts that he is. He came in again quickly, touched on so many other things that are, you know, reforms like the tax reform, like also the dollar. As you can see today, it is crashing against the Naira. Then, if you look into the market, you have food prices coming down. We did not say it has come down. So it is in process.”

She continued, “If we all unite behind the renewed hope agenda, and believe in the agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu… there will be light for Nigeria. You can see just what we witnessed in Davos. Nigeria just got, you know, its first building there. If you see the recognition given to Nigeria there, that means what? Nigeria is beginning to take its rightful place amongst the Committee of Nations.”

On the group’s role, Hajiya Ramatu emphasized, “We put ourselves together to say, okay, we will serve as a bridge between the president, between the leadership, between the top, and the downtrodden, and the Nigerian people to what? Disseminate information… to disseminate proper information, to go with manuals and pamphlets of what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda have been able to do, to show them practically.”

Using an analogy, she explained, “A lady conceives and she's pregnant. That journey is a nine-month journey… But there's no labor without pain. Then when we come to bear our children, these are the Nigerians… The man will be restless. The woman will be in pain. But then the sweet joy comes. That is the baby. I want us to perceive the mission, the vision of the Renewed Hope agenda as that. That means definitely we must feel the pain of nation building, of nation reconstruction, of redefining Nigeria into Nigeria of our dream.”

She urged patience, saying, “So we tell them relax. Tinubu is fixing Nigeria.”

Addressing what sets RTIFN apart, she said, “The group, we act as an ambassador. The group, we connect the poor with the rich. We bring succor to the downtrodden… Wherever it is, the group can connect because there are many hard people in the group… We are here to pacify you. We are here to enlighten you. We are here to cushion the effect, you know, of what the policies are brought to you.”

To the newly inaugurated coordinators, her message was “Uphold the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to uphold selfless service, to uphold the unity of Nigeria… They must be empathetic. They must go down. They must be close to the downtrodden. They are the gap bridgers… They must serve with all diligence, commitment to duty, commitment to purpose, sincerity of purpose and humility like none before.”

Also, the National Secretary Dr. Felix O. Arome, speaking to the press, described RTIFN as a youth-based organization focused on countering misinformation. He said, “RELAX TINUBU is Fixing Nigeria is a youth-based organization that is meant to stand in the gap, to ensure that misinformation does not derail the good work of the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

He added, “It's basically about passion for country. We do not have any other home to call us, this is our country… This is a time for Nigerians, most especially the youth… to take the bull by the horn, to stand by the leadership. The macroeconomic policies of the President is tailored towards building the future for us.”

On the need for accurate information, Dr. Arome noted: “The essence of this group is to make sure that we go out humbly with humanity at the back of our minds to disseminate information that can illuminate people properly. A lot of people are misinformed… We are not misaligned with the situation of the country. We know that to get it right, to get to the promised land, you have to go through a rigorous journey.”

The official charge and oath of office were administered to the coordinators by Tijani on behalf of Seyi. This was followed by a briefing on the organizational hierarchy and reporting lines presented by National Secretary Dr. Felix.

The ceremony which was graced by Senator representing Imo West (Orlu) constituency of Imo State, Osita Izunaso and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student and youth Engagement, Comrade Sunday Ashefon, included an interactive session for announcements and any other business, a vote of thanks by Deputy National Coordinator who is a Nollywood veteran, Mr. Zack Orji.

The group’s membership includes House of Representatives members, former governorship candidates, and other prominent political figures. The group said it will continue to expand its structure at state, local government, and grassroots levels to support public enlightenment and engagement with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Kogi Political Analyst Accuses SDP's Ajaka of Betraying Igala Interests Amid Senate Ambition Rumors

By Sunday Obiji

A scathing online post by political commentator John Paul has ignited fresh debate in Kogi State, accusing former governorship candidate Muritala Yakubu Ajaka of undermining the Igala ethnic group's political resurgence while positioning himself as their savior, even as whispers of his potential Senate run gain traction.

In the widely shared missive titled "Muri Ajaka and the Path to Eternal Doom," Paul lambasted Ajaka as a foremost betrayer of the Igala nation, claiming his so-called Igala agenda is a facade built on past actions that contributed to the district's power loss since 2015. Paul argued that Kogi East, home to the Igala and Bassa peoples and the state's most populous region, has been rendered politically impotent, with Ajaka's involvement in the 2019 election allegedly clearing the path for their downfall. He urged the community to reject Ajaka's leadership, describing him as a political profiteer lacking academic, corporate, or leadership credentials, and questioned the source of his wealth.

The critique comes against the backdrop of Ajaka's high-profile role in Kogi politics. A lawyer by training and former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Ajaka defected to the Social Democratic Party ahead of the 2023 governorship election, where he emerged as the party's flagbearer. Campaigning heavily on an Igala agenda to reclaim power for Kogi East after eight years under governors from other districts, Ajaka garnered significant support in the region but ultimately lost to Ahmed Usman Ododo of the APC amid allegations of electoral irregularities and violence. Post-election, Ajaka challenged the results up to the Supreme Court, where he claimed an attack on him was orchestrated by state officials, though the court upheld Ododo's victory.

Paul's post highlighted divisions within Kogi East, noting that the Ibaji and Bassa factions showed skepticism toward Ajaka in 2023, with vote margins reflecting splits. He warned that pursuing a Senate bid would further harm the Igala cause, labeling Ajaka a questionable character unfit for national representation due to poor communication skills and absence of a substantive agenda. The commentator called for reconciliation with other districts like Okun and a focus on credible leaders with proven competence, rather than what he termed power hustlers.

Ajaka, who has maintained a vocal presence since the election through social media and public statements, has not immediately responded to the allegations in Paul's post. His supporters have previously defended his switch from APC as a principled stand against godfatherism, particularly criticizing former Governor Yahaya Bello's influence. Political observers suggest the rumored Senate ambition could target the Kogi East seat, potentially setting up another contentious race in the 2027 cycle.

As Kogi State navigates post-election tensions, Paul's intervention underscores ongoing ethnic and political fault lines, with calls for unity clashing against accusations of opportunism. With Christmas celebrations underway, the discourse adds a layer of introspection for the Igala community, which continues to grapple with its diminished role in state governance.

PoliticsObajana Cement Factory Ownership: Kogi Government Urge Citizens To Remain Calm by Jonah2022(op): 11:57am On Oct 13, 2022

... CEMENT FACTORY TO REMAIN SHUT

1. The Executive Governor of Kogi State wishes to thank the people of the state for their resoluteness in the ownership impasse between the Dangote Group and the State Government.

2. While the State Government recognises the right of the citizens to peaceful protest as we witnessed across the state yesterday; we urge the people to remain civil, law abiding and give room for constitutionalism. Breakdown of law and order will not be in the interest of anyone as we hope to remain the most peaceful state in Nigeria.

3. To this end, the Governor has directed that trucks loading cement that are impounded across the State be released with immediate effect to either return to the plant or go to their destinations peacefully. As a State, we must retain the peaceful and business friendly environment that have attracted scores of investment giants to the state in the last seven years.

4. The Governor has also urged the Management of Dangote Group to ensure the Cement Factory at Obajana is shut down within the next 48 hours in honor of the legislative arm of Government which ordered the plant sealed until the Dangote Group furnishes the legislature with the requisite documents demanded by the legislature. As a Government, we will defend and protect all Government institutions against impunity.

5. The Governor also wishes to assure the people of the state of his unwavering commitment to defending their interest without compromise. As the face of the struggle with the over four million Kogites behind him, he will ensure the interest of the state is defended with a high sense of integrity, responsibility and allegiance through democratic instruments.

6. We call on the people to remain calm and law abiding as well as continue to have faith in the leadership of the Governor to deliver on the mandate of the people to take back what belongs to them.

7. We also urge security agents to be on red alert to prevent anarchy in the face of the boiling anger of the people against exploitation and oppression. We can only win the battle ahead with cool heads. When our people come together like we are now, all we can do is win.

PoliticsKogi Indigenes Troop Out To Protest Dangote Exploitations by Jonah2022(op): 2:26pm On Oct 11, 2022

The conflict between the Kogi State government and the Dangote Group over the ownership of Obajana cement took a new turn in the early hours of Tuesday, when citizens of the state occupied all mining sites across the state to express their plaight over the alleged exploitation of the Dangote Group.

This comes just hours after it was reported that the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and the Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, were meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the matter.

Massive crowds gathered with various placard inscriptions urging the state and federal governments to press Dangote Group for justice. Despite the fact that the protesters are not violent, trading activities in various areas have been halted.

The protest is happening at Obajana, Ankpa and other areas.

They are urging the state not to back out until the state recovers Obajana Cement, the largest cement plant in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Remember that the state government sealed off the cement factory last week, claiming ownership of the company due to breech of contract agreements and non involvement of the state assembly. Meanwhile, Dangote Group has responded that it owns the entire company.

According to the report of a committee of inquiry set up by the state government, documents show that the agreements entered into between Dangote Group and the previous government in 2002/2003 are invalid. According to the government, the State Assembly was not involved in the negotiations.

The government's statement noted that Dangote Group has even failed to meet the terms of the agreement. It was stated that 90% of the shares were transferred to Dangote Group, with the remaining 10% reserved for the government and citizens.

Though the state government has stated that it is open to negotiation, the citizens seemed adamant through the protests that there is no point in negotiating. The protesters, some of whom were crying, claimed that Dangote Group had wreaked havoc on their lands. They claimed that Dangote trailers kill their people almost every day, and that mining operations leave them with errosions that take their lands and endanger their lives.

They are urging all international organizations to assist the state government in obtaining justice for the people. They have also vowed that they will continue the protests until justice is done.

Evidence

PoliticsPlot By Dangote To Cause Chaos In Kogi Uncovered by Jonah2022(op):
1. We have uncovered certain plans by the Dangote Group at a meeting held last night to cause chaos across the state as a fight back strategy against the State Government's decision to get its own legally supported equity from the Obajana Cement Company. The latest strategy stems from frustrations occasioned by the failure of the Dangote Group to misinform the general public and its shareholders as the State Government has consistently and continuously present the facts of the matter to the general public.

2. A top Management Staff of Dangote Group erroneously called a top Government official as the meeting was going on to hatch their satanic plans against the Government and people of Kogi State. The call which came in at 10.06pm went on for 28 minutes, 12 seconds, detailing how they intend to doctor documents to prove they own the cement company 100 percent; how they intend to use the DSS and other security agencies to arrest top Government Officials on frivolous charges; how they intend to use the EFCC to arrest some Government officials in order to cow them down; how they also intend to use the media to promote falsehood against the Government and people of Kogi State and sundry other satanic plans against the people and Government of our dear state.

Below are the resolutions at their meeting:

* Obliteration of the Agreement between the Kogi State Government and the Dangote Group.

* A plan to use the press to attack the Governor and the Government of Kogi State. They planned to deploy people to the major TV Stations in the country to attack the Governor and the Government of Kogi State.

*They planned to call the EFCC and DSS today to claim those who sealed the company on the orders of the House of Assembly stole the sum of N207m and that those agencies should arrest them.

*They also resolved to initiate both civil and criminal proceedings against certain Government officials.

*Lastly, they resolved to block all the major highways across the state with their trucks to make it impossible for the Governor to move out of the state capital. In their words, they said "we will prove to him that his madness cannot match our own". They said at the meeting that Dangote owns Nigeria and that there is nothing anyone can do to stop him.

3. The over 28 minutes recorded meeting typifies the mindset of economic oppressor who thinks he could use every apparatus of the Federal Government to fight our dear state into submission. Nigeria is what it is today because certain individuals think they own the country and can get away with any attrocity they commit.

4. We make bold to say that if the Dangote Group attempts to carry out any of his threats or deny our claims above which are supported by facts, we will release visuals and audio of the said meeting and the whole world will see the mindset and modus operandi of Alh. Aliko Dangote and his conglomerate. We are a people that cannot be destroyed by the whim and caprices of the capitalist dominance that the Dangote Group stands for.

5. One of the plans hatched at the meeting was to use Dangote trucks to block all major highways in Kogi State from today to make life unbearable for the people of the state and also launch attacks on commuters across the state in order to cow the State Government into submission in the ongoing ownership determination battle for the Obajana Cement Company.

6. We wish to inform the people of Kogi State that the State Government will stop at nothing legal to defend their rights to movement and safety. We will take steps that are legal to resist the act of cowardice of the Dangote Group to harass, intimidate or harm the people of Kogi State for demanding their rights.

7. Let it be clear to all that the Government and people of Kogi State are united against economic oppression under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello. Our resolve to right the wrongs of the past is bigger than those who think they own Nigeria and can get away with anything they do.

8. We call on security agencies to be on red alert to forestall any breakdown of law and order. It is our wish to ensure the agitation to reclaim our equity at Obajana is non-violent as we have all that is required to win the battle. Security agencies should resist the temptation of being used by the Dangote Group to be used to harass officials of Government and our people as hatched at the I'll fated meeting.

9. We also want to sound a note of warning to the Dangote Group that Kogi State will not condone any act of lawlessness and that perpetrators will be made to face the full wrath of the law, no matter how highly placed.

9. Let it be clear to all that the present administration has overseen the heaviest influx of investments into the state as a result of the enabling environment created. But in as much as we crave investments and economic expansion in our dear state, it is our responsibility to protect the interest of the people in those investments.

10. Our stand is just and fair. Our decision is to give what belongs to the people to the people and not seek pecuniary interest. That is why Dangote Group is being repeatedly exposed. The Group should do what is right and just to stop further drowning in the murky waters of ignominy.

11. We urge the people of Kogi State to remain calm as the Government they elected is capable, ready and equipped to fight this economic battle successfully.

PoliticsKogi Government Moves To Recover Obajana Cement Company From Dangote by Jonah2022(op): 7:20am On Oct 07, 2022
The Kogi Government on Thursday expressed determination to recover Obajana Cement Plant from Dangote and his accomplices.

The government’s resolution is contained in the report of the Specialised Technical Committee on the Evaluation of the Legality of the Alleged Acquisition of Obajana Cement Company by Dangote Cement Company.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the detailed report, which was submitted to Gov.Yahaya Bello of Kogi in September.

The report was presented to the public by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Folashade Ayoade, on Thursday in Lokoja.

Ayoade said, “Recovery of the state’s Obajana Cement Company Plc from Dangote Cement Company Limited became imperative at this point in time.”
The SSG revealed with documents that the purported transfer of Obajana to Dangote Industries Limited was “invalid, null and void”.

She disclosed that in the report, three Certificates of Occupancy for Obajana Cement Company Plc, which was solely owned by the Kogi State Government at the time, were used to obtain a loan of N63billion by Dangote.

According to her, the committee, in view of its findings, has, therefore, recommended that Kogi State should take steps to recover Obajana Cement Company from the Dangote Group.

The Committee, chaired by the SSG, also recommended that: “Kogi State Government should take steps to recover all accrued dividends from profits made over the years, including accrued interest on same.

“Kogi State Government should take steps to cancel the existing seven Certificates of Occupancy in the name of Dangote Cement Company.”
Stressing the aberration in the arrangement, the SSG said, “Agreement between Kogi State Government of Nigeria and Dangote Industries Limited, dated 30th July 2002.
“And, supplemental agreement dated 14th February 2003, as contained in Exhibit 71 of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry Report, purporting the transfer of Obajana Cement Company Plc to Dangote Industries Limited, are all invalid, null and void.

“There is no evidence of consideration paid by Dangote Industries Limited to Kogi State Government from the alleged transfer of Obajana Cement Company Plc and no dividend was paid to the state from the profits realised from the inception of Dangote Cement Company Plc to date…
“By the assignment of the three certificates of occupancy, the title in Obajana Cement Company Plc, still vests in Kogi State Government as the sole owner.

“The three documents were used to obtain a loan of sixty-three billion naira only (63,000,000,000.00) to finance the construction of the cement plant in Obajana.”
Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Matthew Kolawole, specifically noted that the acquisition of the Obajana Cement Company by Dangote was without the resolution of the House of Assembly, which made the process null and void.

“It is clear that you cannot sell a state government property of any form without the resolution of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

“All the transfer process of the share capital to Dangote from Obajana by the previous administration was without any law backing it by the state House of Assembly,” Kolawole stated
.

In his remarks, Gov. Yahaya Bello said that he had taken the bold step, in line with his mandate to safeguard the lives and livelihood of the people of Kogi State, including residents, and to ensure their wellbeing.

Bello said this was also coming on the heels of protests by the people of the state who felt they had been suppressed and marginalised by the Dangote Group who had come to rip them off.

The governor, however, said that the state was open to discussions once Dangote Company Plc is ready to come clean.

“We received several petitions from the general public over this particular subject matter.

In the past five to six years, all efforts to sit with the proprietors of the Dangote Conglomerate failed.

“We set up a committee to look into this and invited the Dangote company to discuss with them and tell them the imminent dangers they are exposing the people to, but it all fell on deaf ears.

“I am here to defend my people, and from all reports, it is clear that Obajana Cement Company does not belong to Dangote,” Bello declared
