The Lagos State Government is compelled to address the recent allegations made by Mr. Peter Obi regarding the demolition of a property belonging to his brother. We wish to categorically state that the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) or any other arm of the Lagos State Government did not carry out the said demolition.

Dr. Olajide Abiodun Babatunde, Special Adviser, eGIS & Urban Development, who supervises LASBCA, has confirmed that the agency was not involved in the demolition. We find it disturbing that Mr. Peter Obi would make such allegations without verifying the facts.

The Lagos State Government is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of all residents. We will not tolerate any acts of lawlessness or violations of extant laws. Any individual or group found involved in such acts will be brought to justice.

We urge the public to disregard Mr. Peter Obi's claims and rest assured that the Lagos State Government will continue to work tirelessly to maintain law and order in our great state. We will not be swayed by baseless allegations or attempts to discredit our efforts.

Furthermore, we have directed the Permanent Secretary, Office of Urban Development, Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, FNIA, to request a full investigation by the Lagos State Building Control Agency into this matter. This investigation will help clarify the circumstances surrounding the demolition and ensure that any necessary actions are taken.

The Olowo-in-Council has defended the recent demolition of the Memorial Park in Owo, which was built in remembrance of the victims of the June 5, 2022, terrorist attack at St. Francis Catholic Church, describing its original construction as culturally inappropriate.
In a statement released by the palace, the Council revealed that the demolition was carried out on the directive of the Olowo of Owo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, and had the backing of the people of the ancient kingdom.
The statement explained that the siting of the memorial near the Olowo’s palace was met with stiff resistance when it was first proposed during the administration of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON. According to the Council, both community leaders and youth groups had voiced strong objections, citing traditional and cultural sensitivities that prohibit such monuments from being placed in close proximity to the palace.
Despite those concerns, the late governor went ahead with the project, a move the palace described as a “deviation from tradition” and a dismissal of community sentiment.
“The enthusiasm shown by the people of Owo and the wave of commendation on various media platforms following the demolition has vindicated the palace’s long-held position,” the statement noted.
The Olowo-in-Council also announced that it would soon release a comprehensive report detailing the events that led to the construction of the park and the rationale behind its removal.
Additionally, the Council appealed to critics to channel their grievances toward the palace, stressing that the current Governor of Ondo State, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, had no involvement in the demolition decision.
The demolition of the park has since sparked public debate, with opinions divided over the cultural implications and the memory of the tragic attack that claimed dozens of lives.

Oriyomi should not enter politics if he wants to retain his good name. His call is different from actively participating in politics. This is my opinion, anyway.

Still on Ondo State Governorship Primaries: Just Thinking Aloud🤔

What happened, yesterday, at the primaries was unprecedented. It was terrible! Never experienced that kind of kangaroo and fraudulent primaries in Ondo State in the last 7 years. It was like Aketi's adversaries have succeeded in urinating on his grave with relish. The hands of professional election riggers known and unknown were all over the place. Without credible elections, Nigeria will continue to crawl with disabilities in leadership given that the power interlopers at the helm of affairs lack character, compassion, sincerity of purpose, mental and intellectual capacities for providing quality leadership required to stand firm and engage in impactful developmental strides. It will interest you to note that, throughout the election cycles during Aketi's time, elections were relatively free and fair. Though tension soaked yet interesting to be involved or watch. No thuggery, (Aketi was known for NOT encouraging thuggery), voters voted in peace without molestation. Go and verify as PO would say. I make bold to say that Nigeria witnessed peace and decorum in the conduct of elections in Ondo State while Aketi was the Governor. Imagine, PDP won 2 MHA seats in Akoko and Aketi didn't upturn them. I remember party stalwarts wanted him to reverse the results to favour APC but he refused stating that it was the choice of the constituents. I was very proud of my husband because that's how things should be if we were in a sane clime. Sadly Nigeria is a ZOO! It is heartbreaking that the positive changes in the conduct of elections that Aketi nurtured for 7 years have been thrown to the dogs. Thuggery is back in Ondo State politics with vengance. Beeni! Big time!!!
