Forget about Nigeria and Kenya for a minute.I did'nt expect South Africa to be there. They are the most advanced economy in Africa,it looks like they have their section of poor people too!
But also some might say that poor people of different countries are different!

Albeit slow,I'm happy that the poor people are decreasing in Kenya. We all need to do much better !
forgiveness:
Lying machine. You have 15 million poor people in Kenya. grin

Kur17:
OK the latest on was of 2016, allot have improved since then, poverty is mainly in northern Kenya where 10yrs ago it was at 90% today it's less than 50%

FYI the 17% of Kenya and 46% of Nigeria are not poor but extremely poor, you should be keen on that...

We have about 25% poor, while you have 75% poor

From a Nigerian

Copied

By Valentine Obienyem, the Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State.

Back from Nairobi

Recently, the governor had a reason to travel to kenya. Passionate about having Master plans for Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi, he had to travel to nairobi to meet with the United Nation HABITAT and Shelter Afrique. Seeing the passion and the eagerness with which the governor pursed this, the Organisation, as well as Shelter Afrique, promised to help him. Commending him, the under Secretary and Chief Executive of un HABITAT, Dr. Anna Kajumulo Tibaijuka said that the governor was a good example on true governace.
Typical of him, to save cost for the State, he travels, locally and internationally with a few people. Beyond saving cost, he always says that those in power find it difficult to relinquish power because they surround themselves with many aides that the prospect of surrendering power becomes frightful to them. Obi reminds me of Chief Chukwuemeka Chikelu, who, as Minister, would go to the counter at the Airport and do things for himself. Once I asked him why, and he said: "I do not want to live a borrowed life even as a Minister, so that any day if I cease being one, it will be easy to continue my normal life. In the case of governor Obi, he usually tells us that being a governor will not make him not to live his normal life.
Accept my apologies if I have digressed a bit. On the trip to
nairobi were the governor and I. We flew Kenyan Airways, which is inscribed "The pride of Africa."
This at once aroused a sense of regret in me as a Nigerian. Is it not the place of former Nigeria's Airways that Kenyan Airways has taken? If not for mismanagement, what would have been of Nigerian Airways? At the time our Airways was functioning, was it not far bigger than Kenyan Airways in many respects? These are necessary questions.
At nairobi, I saw what was beyond my imagination. Let me go straight to the verdict: nairobi is far better than any Nigerian city you can possibly think of, including Abuja. Once at the Airport, you are bound to admire the order pervading the entire place. Though not as busy as Muritala Muhammed International Airport, it is better organized. In fact, some people told me, unverified, that the airport was built at the cost of Twenty-Five Million Naira (equivalent); while our own was at the cost of over Two Hundred Million Naira. But the two are big as to relatively cost the same.
Driving from the Airport to the town was a pleasant one. I took time looking at the street lights, and behold not even one bulb was not lit. Straight, we drove to nairobi Serena Hotel. In fact, when we got there, because it was night, I could not really compare nairobi and Abuja in terms of aesthetics. But when it was down, I saw nairobi in its unclothedness.
Being an old city, nairobi roads are not so wide. However, unlike our own disordered cities, nairobi is clothed with flowers and the buildings are superior to most that we find in Nigeria. The transport companies, especially the ubiquitious Citi Hopper are far better that intra-city buses in Nigeria. Foreigners enter it with ease, no standing, no careless driving.
Working with governor Obi is business not pleasure, he makes sure you add enough value to the trip to justify your travelling with him. Though as we were about to land at the airport, some places of interest such as Giraffe Park, Animal Orphanage, nairobi National Musseum, etc were announced, but we did not go to nairobi for a picnic, not with my
governor, but for business. On our return, as we touch down Nigerian soil, Kenyan Airways did not announce any place of interest in Nigeria. This is instructive.
Oracle Content & Collaboration
However, in the spirit of adventure, I still managed to look out. Close to the beautiful Serena hotel is the Uhuru Park, a spacious park for recreation. If it were in Nigeria, corner shops would have taken its place. But in nairobi, it is well maintained, and I understand such parks are all over the place. As you move along nairobi streets you see public conveniences, neat and properly maintained. It will certainly be a source of revenue. In fact, it made me remember a king who built urinals around his kingdom, his son protested on why trying to make money from such a dirty place. When the money came, he took some close to his nose and asked: "Do they smell of urine?"
nairobi is amazingly clean, especially when juxtaposed with Abuja. Without Okada plying the streets, you will not even see a single sheet of paper or pure water nylons on the ground. No wonder the city attracts foreigners. At Serena hotel, 98% of the guests are foreigners. You are therefore left to imagine how much the country makes on tourism. One Nigerian there said that what oil was to Nigeria was what tourism was to kenya.
I had the opportunity of visiting University of nairobi. Right inside the city, it is a reflection of the entire city: neat, organized and exuding scholarship. In my venturesome way, I interacted with some of the students and was not disappointed.
nairobi has good hospitals, good schools and good weather. Though Nigerians seem well-to-do, but nairobi is more of a human society than our disordered country controlled by bedlam.
Two days in nairobi was a pleasant experience. As we touch down at Murtala Mohammed Airport, I was nostalgic about
kenya. A city where I did not witness police taking bribes openly, dry taps, power interruption. A city where right-hand driving is still in vogue. At our airport, we had to wait for some minutes for the generator to be put on, because the conveyor belt stopped when NEPA interrupted power. Regrettably, this was a reminding welcome to Nigeria!

And still Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world!
samsobo24:
Kenyan blacks are really empty chest beaters, they actually brag over everything you could imagine, even arguing that their entertainment industry is bigger, that they have finer girls, that their tourism is even bigger than Tanzania's tourism sector.

I and 688***** have unveiled and exposed the shame Nairobi is,they claim Nairobi is developed than Lagos and can only show us malls and tall buildings parked on one side, with a tiny land mass they call.CBD that when you see aerial views, you think the city has more skyscrapers even than Seoul.

We told them that the distance between their two CBDs are stone throw to each other. Meanwhile when you see aerial views of Lagos city, you see the cities courage to show its developed landmass and its skyscrapers farther away from each other.

My kenyan friend said that Nairobi's poorest district is closer to their main airport, what know happens when you see inner cities inn Lagos that are even farther away from Ikeja on the mainland with huge infrastructures.

Imagine in the so called Nairobi CBD,they can't boast of Bus shelters, bus terminals,I haven't even seen any plan for a light rail ,even when the light tail passes the poorest of the poorest places in Lagos, Lagos has water terminus, water police, and lanes for the speed boats,Lagos is even.creating a Rapid response squad again to further ease and reduce the effect of traffic, managing its population by investing in human capital .I even saw them doing painting for BRT lanes when almost every inner cities all have roads with separate brt lanes.

We are commissioning about 4 airport terminals and you.see them behaving like as if JKIA is better than.the renewed MMIA that's even bigger in size.Abuja airport is the only modern airport in Africa that has its airport connected to a city tram.

They rant about Kenyan Airway's owned by their whitemasters that would soon even be soled out.Nigeria has so many private airlines and yet the keep shouting the pride of Africa airways. Its a pity that Nigeria's aviation is better even with the challenges experienced in the sector, they are okay with whites dominance through KA.

They shout about education, having better higher institutions, meanwhile the best and ancient university in nigeria bigger than university of Nairobi has been dwarfed by Africa's best private university, covenant university. A Nigerian graduate that has ten times worth than a Kenyan.Nigerian professionals are being exported to Africa and the rest,we produce the best professors, best graduates, best teachers home and abroad,no wonder our professionals are the most sought after in the UK,US etc.If we go about including a Nigerian language as substitute for English we will have have better indices.

A Nigerian student with credit in all subjects with A's in all excluding English and maths is considered unfit for higher learning.

They claim their shallow entertainment industry is bigger than ours

They say their tourism is bigger than Tanzania
They claim that Nairobi is more developed than Lagos, when lekki alone has about. almost 20 world class cities you can't find in their slumpolis

Poor kano has light rail and is constructing world class cities better than tatu and konza combined.Even Enugu,Anambra,ABK,Uyo,PH etc are building sustainable cities from scratch, all you see in Nairobi is erecting tall buildings amidst an unplanned poorly district incomparable with Ikeja CBD.

They are truly happy about their colonialism by whites. Whites do almost everything for their lazy arses. From their malls,to their telecommunications, to tea farms,to dominating their stock exchange, their financial institutions. Kenya was amongst the countries I saw still under colianism.

A population not up to the size of Lagos by all means claims to be better than Nigeria .If at all we assume they are better. Are they so dumb to to know that a country with more population is potentially better off

They will soon come and still rant and show us tiny section of their city..This is a wake up for Kenyans to take over their country from the whites,we can help them also.

Kenya is way too small compared to Nigeria. You think the world would choose Kenya over Nigeria.

Your data is just not clear. Bring clear evidences showing the about 29 planes that have been from a lease program.
Kazikazi:
You own less than 11.
If you got a plane in 2006 or 2007 is not very far.A plane can be even 40 or 50 years old and still flies.

According to planes spotters, our current fleet is 39 planes. How many of this are from lease?
Kazikazi:
After getting a lease agreement, you wait for delivery. Most of these leases goes for a long period like 12 years.

How many planes from our fleet size are not fully owned by Kq currently? I haven't yet gotten an answer! Our planes average age is now 6 years and yet you are showing me leased planes as far as from 2005!
Kazikazi:
We pay cash.No lease.we own them. KQ is getting them under a lease, then they sometimes leases to third party(subleasing). And they gets a loss in the process!
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Jonraid(m): 2:06pm On Dec 20, 2018
2005? Really? How many planes have we currently leased now ?

How many planes? Bring a link that mentions those planes! Your information is so short !

That was sub leasing. You got them under a lease and you leased them again.( sub leasing)

How many planes have we leased that don't belong to Kq.Bring a link that puts everything out clearly. Your links report nothing actually. What we know is that we've leased planes to other entities!

Mr Naikuni no longer works at Kq. Where did you pull out this article from? it's 2018 December now!
