Africa is poor because of incompetence and corrupt rulers who loot their nation and let foreigners do the same and since John Magufuli came in power he has brought down corruption and their economy has been having one of the highest growth in Africa. This is exactly why Tanzania will surpass Kenya if Magufuli continues to hold power because you are so used to corruption and incompetence that you think its the way to live and you react negatively when someone comes and tries to makr good changes. While Kenya is busy with corruption, tribalism and going around the world asking for loans so it can indebt itself Magufulis Tanzania is doing the opposite and slowly prosporing.

Its painful to say ths but some of your comments have truth in it..way back in 2013 Kenya was called a pariah country just like Tz now. Our current president was in facing issues in Hague. Foreign funding was being diverted to other countries such as S.A .I think what magufuli doesn’t understand is that ya cant cant beat ths niggs,just play cool. There something western guys want from TZ either gay freedom or humam rights stuff or just minerals .The kind of negativity being shown toward TZ is similar to what we had before 2013..But now we ok..We know how to play the Game. Wonder whether magufuli is smart enough to do so..You see Kenya survives coz in a way we are smart lot. Our economy could have collapsed during Moi’s era but nah we survived (I call it a miracle)..You can’t go head to head with ths guys. Just check Venezuela, Palestine, Iran among other countries.

Imagine a future where you just use your fingerprints on some device - and voila - you're authenticated - and can get private and public sector services - you don't have to carry your national ID. Criminals like our Nigerian brother - you just need to swipe their fingerprint - on crime scene - and voila - you know the criminals - complete with their phone numbers and basic demographic info. This is the game changer - we had manual biometrics that took forever and were impossible to share - but now - we can continue the digital journey with solid Identification system.

While Nigeria typically is unable to even do Census (too broke ) Kenya which already had one of Africa strongest National ID system - just went digital - with completion of Huduma (Service) Number registrations - that not only take and store biometrics digitally (finger prints, pictures) taken - and their documents attached - in national database - that will be used by gov and non-gov for authentication.

Kenya is well ahead on the digital journey. People cannot just learn - it gov to go digital - forcing people to acquire those skills. For instance many gov services are now online - so a lot of people have to open accounts - e-Citizen, TIMS (NTSA), KRA e-filling of tax returns - name it.

I believe the current Huduma number will provide the biometrics needed to finally go fully digital.
