Honestly, I keep wondering why people hype people who play chess?

Like exactly what's the point of the hype?

In Nigeria today we have chess tournament in the streets and all sorts of chess geniuses and protege

But What really is the benefits of the game or what makes it special compared to our local ludo, ten-ten, suwé or drafts?

I understand that people tend to feel chess is some kind of brain work or brain boosting stuff.

But most chess world best players that we know never go on to become someone remarkable in their career fields. Instead, they efwill only go on to play the chess game.

So, what's so special about chess exactly because I'm lost here
