Politics / Re: Enact Law That Will Force Civil Servant To Marry More Wives - Sheikh Aminu Baba by joshbj(m): 6:19am On Oct 17, 2023
Marrying more women to reduce prostitution is a myopic way of thinking.

Those women you married would produce more girls and the cycle continues.

The men among them, turn into a nuisance, in the society

We sometimes celebrate mediocrity in this country.

There are so many social challenges that we can channel our energy to.

Till tomorrow, I respect Fela for standing up against many of these challenges.

Our artists can creatively inspire reforms without causing societal disorder.

I understand your situation. Learning to program while you hustle to feed yourself can be confusing and frustrating.

You don't know why which one to face. You focus on programming you starve, focus on hustle, you loose time.

For me, I hustle throughout the day, sleep 3 hours and program all night. Very hard and frustrating.

Brute forcing knowledge into my head, something that I did not study at school, very tough.

But I know one day I will smile.

Nairaland / General / What Is Something Nobody Tells You, But You Wish You Knew Earlier? by joshbj(m): 3:46am On Oct 05, 2021

Other people’s emotions are not your responsibility. If you are worried someone is upset with you, it’s their responsibility to tell you when they are ready. It’s not your responsibility to guess or worry.

Before you argue with someone, ask yourself; is that person even mentally mature enough to grasp the different perspectives. Because if not, there’s absolutely no point.

A healthy mind doesn’t speak ill of others.

Don’t stay in a toxic cycle, just because it’s familiar.

Be mature enough to understand that you have some toxic traits too. It’s not always the other person.

Observe everything with logic. If words can control you, that means everyone else can control you. Breathe and let things go.

When arguing, stop raising your voice and try improving your argument. The loudest people are the loudest, not the smartest.

Forgive people, but also learn a lesson. Don’t hate them, but never get close enough for them to hurt you again. Don’t let your forgiveness become foolishness.

. Maintain a certain sense of distance no matter how close you and someone is. Know your limits. It’s good to know when to stop.-

Your attitudes are your unique gift which you are not obliged to explain to anyone. Keep your things private. Not everyone is that deserving.

It’s not You Vs Other people. Your completion is your procrastination, your ego, the knowledge you neglect, your negative behaviour. Compete against that. It’s You Vs You.

Programming / Re: What Made You Pick Interest In Programming by joshbj(m): 10:53am On Aug 03, 2020
Movies got me interested in programming.

I started with vb.net, wrote some programs in Java, now I'm learn python because I want to go into datascience and AI.

The journey ain't easy, you basically lose your social life. Everything around you becomes a logical problem, you will always trying to map solutions in your mind.

You become very busy, time is never enough, yet sometimes it's as if you're wasting your life... No Money, but you can't give up...

What I m saying is this, if you divide nigeria population (about 200 million) it go round five times. What's the big deal?

Politics / Just One Billion Would Round Nigeria Population Five Times by joshbj(m): 6:31pm On Apr 01, 2020
If the government just share one billion donated by a philanthropist, and give every citizen one million, it would remain 800 million naira. If we are to assume the population is 200 million people.

BTW... It's just me thinking out loud.

Politics / Re: Did China Deceive The World: A Conspiracy Theory by joshbj(m): 12:31pm On Mar 22, 2020
This is myopic.

The aftermath of the so-called "tactic" is horrible for China and its economy.

First, the pandemic has exposed the humongous advantage that China enjoys in the critical supply chain, especially in the pharmaceutical industry which will never remain the same after the "war".

Americans and Europeans and others serious nations have seen the serious threat posed by allowing China to dominate the supply of drugs and other health supplies. This is a real threat that won't be allowed to continue. Response to this threat is bound to devastate China's industry.

In the same vein, the importance China to the global economy, vis a vis the capacity for disruption is only being experienced. The rest of the world will do just anything to mitigate the risks to the disadvantage of the China's economy.

If at all the "war" has any favourable outcome for the Chinese as being claimed here, it is only temporary. Efforts will be intensified to significantly reduced the vulnerability of the world's economy to a single country's internal dynamics. Ultimately, the world is going to come up with robust risk diversification systems that will take money away from China.

I concur, this so called Victory is short term
