EPISODE 9 After relaxing in my office for a while, i invited the girls inside and curiously stared at them. “good morning sir” they all greeted. “yea what can i do for you?” i asked with a serious smile. “we came to introduce ourselves because we believe you don’t know us” one of them replied while i nodded in approval. “actually we are students of this great department but we graduated last year. Unfortunately the old man you just replaced failed us in his course, forcing us to spend an extra year over it” she summarized with a pleading look. “OK i now understand because your faces really look very unfamiliar” i said with a soft smile which lit up their faces. They all stared at me hopefully. “please don’t let us spend another extra year over the course. We wrote the exam and tried our best in it, but we unfortunately missed writing the text because we never got any information about it” she murmured in form of an appeal. I breathed deeply and nodded. “write down your names on a paper, I’ll see what i can do” i offered like a good man. They all breathed deeply with excitement. “thank you sir” they chorused while i smiled over the way they kept calling me sir. Of course two of the girls really looked a bit older than I. They wrote down their names on the paper, dropped it on my table and left happily, but as i made to take a look at the paper, one of the girls showed up again. “i really forgot to invite to my parents marriage anniversary which is coming up on Sunday” she said, presenting a small invitation card to me. I collected it and read curiously. The names on the card slowly hit my face like a hot slap. “don’t tell me your father is a former senator?” i asked with disbelief. “yea i’m his last child” she replied, while a million questions hit my head. “what the hell is she doing, studying in Nigeria. The old man i just replaced really had some balls to fail this girl. d##n” i breathed as i weighed the girl before me. “i hope you are coming?, some senior lecturers including the vice chancellor will be there. Take advantage of this invitation. You are a nice man sir” she smiled and left. My face instantly coloured with excitement. Just like every young man, I was very ambitious, but i equally realised that the more ambitious i got, the more corrupt i became. The invitation really was irresistible but somehow i was very scared over my intentions and the direction i was slowly heading. I was still battling with my mind when Comfort walked into my office with a warm smile on her face. I instantly recoiled with guilt. “what do you want?” i asked coldly. “relax sir” she replied, drew close and sat on an empty chair across my table….. The d##n girl was now like a silly noisy mosquitoe i couldn’t kill.. To be continued. |

[quote author=bare1 post=37241120]Great post Sir. Are you into any personal development programs? [/quote No, not at all sir (at least, for now). I'm just a young lad seeking for the best in life through sharpening my mentality. |
I noticed that there isn't any thread for Kogi State University aspirants unlike others (the likes of FUTMINNA, OAU, LASU, etc.) so I've decided to come up with this one. Are you an aspirant in KSU? Are you yet to take the Post UTME? I've you taken Post UTME already and awaiting result? Do you have any problem(s) with your Jamb/Post UTME subject combination? Do you have any experience(s) to share about the Post UTME and admission processes?.... Let's meet here...... As for me, I'm a medical aspirant (though i'm convinced my admission is sure by His grace). My Jamb score is 230 and I'm believing God for a very high Post UTME score. I wrote mine on the first day (1st September) and to be candid, the exam wasn't funny at all. The wrong subject combinations on the part of the school didn't help matters at all but in all, I give Him all the glory! I hope to meet every aspirant here next year in 100level. The floor is opened guys, let the journey begin...... Thanks. |
It may be too scattered for those who don't need it. Thanks op, this has really geared me..Lord, help me to get this course I applied for (Kogi State University) IJN Amen |

Value is simply the usefulness and importance of something or someone. It was Albert Einstein that advised that one shouldn’t try to be a person of success but to rather be a person of value. I believe the reason he said this is that value is directly connected to success. The equation is simple, the more valuable you are, the more successful you are. We shouldn’t equally forget that value is connected to influence. When value grows, influence grows. Here are ways to become a person of value and influence; 1. Find and pursue Purpose and passion: The great and influential men and women the world has ever known where those who discovered and pursued their purposes and were driven by their passions. When you are on the path of purpose, it is easier to add significant value to the lives of people. You will hardly be of any significant value to people or influence them when you don’t know where you are going. Purpose ignites passion which keeps one motivated, inspired and focused. You need all that to be valuable and influential. 2. Embrace Personal development: Becoming a person of value and influence demands embracing a life long pursuit of personal development. Personal development is a process of understanding and developing oneself to realize one’s fullest potential. The extent to which you are able to add value and influence others depends on the extent to which you have been able to develop yourself. Every raw material has little or no value. It actually becomes valuable after it has been refined. Take time to refine yourself in every area. That could be hard but it is quite rewarding. Daily ask yourself, “What do I need to learn or do to become a better person? Your value depends on the value you offer. 3. Choose A Problem You Can Solve For People: To be a person of value and influence, you have to become genuinely interested in people enough to solve a specific problem for them. Think of what you can do to make lives better. The more people you solve their problems, the more valuable and influential you become. 4. Be Original and Unique: When we live our lives mimicking or imitating others, it steals our originality. Guess what? Imitations don’t get much attention, originals do. I believe you’ve heard that when you imitate someone else, the best you can be is second best. That’s very true. To be a person of influence don’t be any one else. Be YOU. Yes! YOU. 5. Pursue Excellence: Becoming a person of value and influence is not going to be much about what you do but about how well you do it. It is said that whatever worth doing is worth doing well. Go beyond the usual. Add a touch of class in all you do. That’s what excellence is all about. But mind you it is not the same as perfection. 6. Encourage & Inspire Others: Someone once said a candle does not go off by lightning another. Find a way to encourage and inspire others to be all they can be. Empower, share your knowledge and skills with others. Your value and influence is connected to the number of lives that are better because of you. 7. Exude Confidence: Self-confidence is one quality that’s very admirable. it is about knowing what you want and having the courage and boldness to go for it. When you are self-confident, people easily get attracted to you and when you do no have it, the opposite becomes the case. Are you wondering why? The reason is simple. What value do you think a person who does not believe in himself can offer? Your guess is as good as mine. 8. Integrity: It is true that none of us is perfect but for you to be a person of value and influence you have to be able to earn people’s confidence and trust. You should be able to live by certain values that uphold sound moral principles. Integrity means doing the right thing at all times and in all circumstances, whether or not it is convenient. It is about being sincere and real. It is about being honest enough to admit it when you are wrong. It is your “yes” as “yes” and your “no” as “no”. It is people trusting you not for any other reason but because you have earned their trust. |

Two students of a university in Anambra state have reportedly died in a hostel room located not far from the school. Daily Independent reports that the female student, who hails from Imo state, visited her boyfriend on June 6, Saturday. The young man was 300 level student of public administration. The couple went in the room but never left it until the door was forced open by the police after a neighbor raised the alarm. The students allegedly died after sex romp and their neighbors never knew until their bodies started decomposing. The guy allegedly drugged his girlfriend to have a free sex, which caused her death. He reportedly also took the pills and lied next to her. Special anti-robbery squad from Awkuzu removed both bodies and deposited then at morgue. Uche Ezeh, the police public relation officer, confirmed the incident, adding that the investigation was ongoing. http://yabaleftonline.com/2015/06/2-anambra-university-students-found-dead-in-hostel-room/
