Most Nigerian youth read without insight and sense, know how to read basic English and write, know basic calculation, technical college or ND is enough, learn a trade and face it, I've seen roadside okada mechanic having 2 houses modern one while his mate graduate struggle to pay rent, my own brother is even another testimony, hes pure damn farmer but men, a farmer using suit, camry and own more than 7 pen, land acquisition is uncountable, he dine with governor and commisioner of Agric, his graduate mate now some of his staff and some learning under him, get ur grip, learn what u can do on ur own and forget nysc dream bullshit, its mere paper, not ur brain or skill
AgricultureRe: How To Start A Profitable Plantain Farm In Nigeria (pics) by jossytech(m): 6:08am On Feb 19, 2016

AgricultureRe: How To Sell Plantain In Profitable Markets In Nigeria by jossytech(m): 5:43am On Feb 19, 2016
It's sad most our bosses keep encouraging start, this start that, to market they ignore us, seem they only interested in selling their sucker to us only and d rest if for us, ppls going to plantain should think twice, as for me. I'm diversified to maize. Market ready is here, can't wait for a year only to waste energy, money n time. With 50k investment in maize, you'll realize 200-300k in 3 n half months than plantain of more than a year after spending nearly 200-300k. Weigh your option and risk

Lesgupnigeria:
Marketing is one of the important things to consider when venturing into agribusiness.I have always say that you can sell any Agric products but at what price? Is the price profitable or not?
I consider my market first before farming any crop;I asked myself questions before starting any venture, how do I sell my produce? Whom should I sell to?and at what price? which I believe you should ask yourself as well before starting.
This is very important in any agribusiness venture.
That's why I only specialise in crops that have good market for its uptake when produced.
Different crop have different market chain and you should be well versed with in it.The way you will sell plantain is different from cassava or watermelon.
Different crop with different market.
Plantain as one of my favourite crop is highly lucrative if you are able to get your sales right.
There are 2 ways you can sell your plantain in Nigeria.
1.Through the local markets- Mile12,ikorodu ,ketu markets e.t.c
2.Selling to companies processing flour and chips
The first way is not only unreliable, its not all that profitable. You are going to be taken advantage of using the first way and this is majorly where 95% of farmers used to sell their plantain.
This market is subjected to supply and demand; that is if you have many farmers bringing plantain to the market, the prices falls rapidly and vice versa.
The only time the market price is high and not subjected to the law of demand and supply is during August of every year but the question is Am I going to wait till every August each year to make money?

The truth is that the processing companies have the capacity to process but the quality of the quantities of what they need is the challenge.
Most plantain farmers are not producing the quality these companies need and the farmers are forced to sell at the local market where they are taken advantage of.
The companies i partner with in selling my plantain demand from us to produce the plantain variety that have the characteristics of what they need.
This is because most of the other varieties reduces the quality of their plantain flour.

Selling to the processing companies requires that you know what they need before producing it.
Thats why I can be confident of ready made market for my plantain farm, those I am currently managing their farm and those that already have the Giant French horn variety on their farm.

I am also currently working with a plantain flour company of 20T/day capacity to get more local farmers to cultivate more of the plantain to improve their income
This is the best way to sell profitably your plantain.
