If you're looking for creative ways to generate revenue for your business through a website, activating online adverts is the way to go! In addition to making a few extra bucks on the side, ads increase the visibility and integrity of your brand on the internet. To give your website the competitive advantage it deserves, Jovago.com, Africa’slargest hotel booking portal reveals ways to target a niche market and make money from the traffic your site generates. 1. Publicize an affiliate service or product on your webpage One of the quickest ways to get online advertising is by taking part in another company's affiliate. Although affiliate links are not organic ads, they give you the opportunity to make some income from promoting other people’s product earning a commission every time those you have referred make a purchase. Before you undertake this project, do a thorough research on the authenticity of the product you are selling after which then publish an article about the brand or post a banner which links to the affiliate weblink to your site, like this one here. 2. Try direct advertising with Google AdSens There are quite a few search engines offering advert program but Google's AdSense tops the list as the most used globally. This program enables you make some cash online by placing targeted ads created by Google on your pages. They appear in rectangular boxes at the top, side or across the bottom of a web page and as a publisher you earn income each time a visitor clicks on each of the banners Although Adsense does not work for all websites, it’s free to join, easy to use and once you start getting a lot of traffic, it can be a healthy source of income for you. 3. Use a blog-specific ad program If you operate a blog, featuring blog-specific ads is the way to go. The secret with this is to showcase only ads your target audience think is valuable. Create a simple link for advertisers to reach you if they have inquiries about rates or booking procedures – short message saying "To advertise on this blog, click here!" This way, you can be accessible anytime. Be careful with the number of ads you put on each page though as having banners positioned all over the page can give it a cluttered look which your audience may find off-putting. |
https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Family_Holiday_Traveling_page-bg_19986-660x400.jpg With the rising spate of bombings taking place around the world, there’s no better time than the present to teach your family vital survival tips for emergency situations especially while on a vacation far from home. If they tag it a red-zone, do not go there. And try to share this piece of information with friends and family too. Reach out to the Embassy A lot of people avoid engaging with the government but they are the first point of contact when things go awry in a foreign land. Before you set out on a journey, register with the embassy who will alert you in the event of threat. They will also provide you will adequate aid to help your family return home safely if a natural disaster occurs. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/family-Blk-by-car.jpg Watch the local news Cable television is great but if you want to feel the pulse of your immediate environment, local TV should be your primary source of news. Keep tabs on social media sites who can alert you to activities taking place in your area. If you must go to a concert, check out the security detail in place and stay as close to the exist as you can. Prep the kids Trying to keep the kids safe in a dangerous situation can be a ton of work so it helps to train them to be alert for emergency scenarios. Show them how to dial the police number and follow evacuation. Have them memorize the address of your hotel room and phone number, carry your ID card always and show them how to find the nearest police station. This activity may scare them at the initial stage but it will preserve their lives if the time comes. Keep your phones charged While you may not want to be the dotting parent, it is important to ensure that your kids and spouse has their phone fully charged at all times. Invest in some portable power banks (popularly known as chargers), and store some cash for airtime in your purse as well. Keep your pantry stocked Once you arrive at your chosen destination, always stock up on water, dry foods, local currencies, a portable charger and flashlights even if you are staying at a 5-star hotel such as this one here. If the power goes out or you get a message telling you to seek shelter, the last thing you should be caught doing is hunting for food. |

https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Bus-preacher-beaten-to-coma-after-condom-falls-from-bible-650x400-1-650x400.jpg Over the years, bus journeys have somewhat fallen to the bottom of the list of transport options for long distance travel in most parts of the world, however, the case is different in Nigeria. Largely consisting of a middle and lower class populace, bus journeys are still a preferred norm, as it saves the traveler a lot more money than taking a flight will. While bus is often the cheapest form of transportation in any part of the world, it can be very stressful for the traveler as sometimes, they are required to sit for hours on end and endure the physical stress that comes with the often bumpy road ahead. Luckily there are tips to help alleviate the drudgery that comes with sitting on the road, for travelers within Nigeria, Jovago.com, Africa’s No. 1 online hotel booking site, suggests 5 ways to survive a long bus trip. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/1.jpg Keep yourself entertained Thanks to technology, entertainment is now easily accessible. You can play games on your phone or even watch a movie or listen to songs, you just need to make sure that it is fully charged before you set out from your hotel room. Alternatively, you can pack a book to read on the way or a journal to write in while travelling. Go for whatever keeps you busy and entertained. Sitting and staring into space is a huge recipe for boredom and frustration and is certainly no way to survive a long bus trip. Pack edible treats Besides getting hungry on the road, you can get puckish at intervals. Pack some snacks including mixed nuts, sandwiches, fruits and cereal bars in a small container to nibble on. Some juice and water are a good addition, however you may want to watch your intake to avoid frequent visits to the bathroom. Alternatively, buy some light refreshments at bus stops on the way to your destination or if you are lucky, the bus may have snacks to offer passengers and you can take advantage of that as well. Either ways, snacking tends to reduce the stress of being on the road and makes the entire trip much more enjoyable. Bring your toiletries While travelers are advised to pack light, there are certain toiletries that are important while travelling within Nigeria. Most buses do not have toilets and you may have to make random stops to ease yourself or use the loo. Tissues and hand sanitizers are key essentials to ensure you stay germ free before you reach your destination. Catch some sleep Not everyone can sleep while in motion, however, if you can, try and occupy your time by sleeping through the journey. It helps if you have ear muffs, a neck rest or a travel pillow and sleeping mask, however, you can also improvise and use a rolled up sweater or shirt as head rest. Sleeping is a sure way to survive a long bus trip as it has a way of making the time go much faster. Chat up other travelers Most buses carry four passengers per row and usually, every traveller has someone who they can engage in a conversation sitting close to them. If you are sitting next to other people, get friendly, raise a topic and chat with them. This has a way of spicing up the trip. Unless, of course, the person sitting next to you is utterly boring. Most people have built strong friendships from simple conversations while others have even met spouses on the bus. |

https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Having-it-all-660x400.png Being a parent is not an easy job, and being a parent who travels a lot is even more arduous. Children generally require a lot of care and devotion and so, juggling trips, meetings and giving required attention to the kids can make life seem chaotic, especially since the parent soon realizes that there are never enough hours in the day to plan for trips and also get on with parenting. While it might be frustrating, parents do not necessarily have to give up job or lose the opportunities the frequent trips might present as there are smart strategies travelling parents can adopt for periods when seems like everything is set to fall apart. Jovago.com, Africa’s No. 1 online hotel booking site, shares 5 time-saving tips for parents who travel a lot. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Black-Woman-Working-from-Home.jpg Create a feasible schedule Everything can be handled once planned appropriately. Lay out your work, travel and accomodation itinerary as well as your child’s schedule – which should normally include the times when you need to complete certain errands for and with the child, for example, a trip to the dentist, the child’s recital and more- and merge them. Plan the various activities in such a way that they sync. Doing this helps you manage time and reduces stress. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/african_american_mother_working_at_holding_baby_bld046289-378x414.jpg Get help Most parents, especially moms, do not like to admit that they need help with their children, but if you need to travel on a regular basis, there is no denying that you certainly do. Hire a nanny that, not only cater to the daily needs of the children for the period you are away, but can also drop off and pick up the children from school alongside a driver, or with your personal car. Educate this nanny on certain routines and ensure the nanny is capable of communicating effectively with you as well as you children. This helps you manage your time well and plan your trips as well as manage communication with children while you are away. Cook ahead For travelling mothers especially, the deep freezer is a treasure. Cook enough food to last the children for the period you are away and store them in the freezer. You can even arrange them in mini-containers and label them with the date and time they are to be consumed, also even including what particular child each container is for. All the children need to do is microwave it and they still have Momma’s cooking even though she is away. You can pack fresh fruits and veggies in Ziploc bags and store in the fridge with mini-labels as well. Doing this not only saves the time spent in calling every day you are away to discuss what meals they are to have, it also caters for the children meal needs for the time you are away, especially if you have a certain child with special dietary needs. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MomCorpYOU.jpg Keep a detailed first aid kit around the house While you are away, there is a huge chance a child would fall asleep of have a domestic accident. For children who are above 7, it is essential that you educate them on how to handle several accidents such as a bruise or small cut. You also need to equip them with the family medical contact so they can act on their own in the case of emergencies. For children who have allergies of specific health issues, pack their medication separately and label with instructions in the case you are not around and a nanny of help needs to administer them. This not only saves time for the parent but can save the child’s life in situation where the child is alone and cannot access help. Take advantage of available apps The world today is different from what it was 20 years ago. There are so many apps to help parents who require assistance with parenting. Parents who travel a lot need to take advantage of this technology to help save time and reduce stress. For instance, hotel booking and banking apps can help parent transfer money from a distant location to a child who needs it urgently. With banking apps, you can deposit checks from your phone, while calendar apps can send alerts that will remind the parent of key family-related appointments and events. |
https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Gallery-Obama-world-celeb-005-660x400.jpg Travelers, who have had authentic local interactions while visiting various destinations understand the vital role the community plays in creating a rewarding travel experience. These natives, with the wealth of knowledge gained from them, one way or the other, adds a certain flavor to the trip, making it extra special. Giving back to them therefore has a way of making the trip much more fulfilling, especially when the ultimate goal is to show your gratitude and appreciation for the effort they put into making your stay worthwhile. Looking for ways to get started? Jovago.com, Africa’s No. 1 online hotel booking site offers 7 ways every traveler can give back to locals. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/RTAWinners2012-tourOpForRT.jpg Attend a paid event Most destinations, especially those most frequently visited by tourists, usually have events they host at intervals which yield proceeds beneficial to the society as large. Purchasing a ticket and attending such events can be a great way to contribute to the society. Though indirect, this tactic benefits both the traveler and the community. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/image49.jpg Volunteer your skills where you can Most visitors likely have a specific area of expertise, talent or hobby that could be of value to the local communities. Sharing the things they know or love to do with the locals is another way of giving back to them. For instance a visitor who had a knack for surfing to a local beach in Lagos can teach a few of the local children the sport. Also, a photographer can arrange to take pictures of the locals and their environment, make prints, and have them sent to the locals after the trip. Patronize the local shops and markets When visiting a destination, pack light. Leave anything that is not ultra-essential behind and instead, buy them from the local markets when you arrive the location. Purchase eccentric crafts and artifact, you could collect them for personal use or to give out as souvenirs when you eventually return home. Also, the streets usually have local delicacies that any adventurous traveler would enjoy savoring. Patronize the vendors on the street and visit the local road-side bukkas rather than the exotic restaurants. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/boutique-shopping.jpg Donate to charity homes Almost every local community has a charity organization or a charity homes such as orphanages and adult homes. Make out time to visit these homes while visiting a location and either donate gifts or donate your time in service. If you while traveling you purchased extra clothes or belonging, donate the old ones you came in with at local drop-off locations before you leave. Also, lightly used items which you planning on replacing soon anyway. Participate in a local contest Step out of your hotel room and have fun by enrolling in a local contest. It could be a beauty, sport or simple online contest. Charity contest are however most preferable as instead of prizes, the proceeds won, go right back to the residents of the community. Participating in contests is a great way for travelers to give back in the areas they visit. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/article-2185243-146F3F24000005DC-470_634x498.jpg Visit the ultra-local attractions Rather than visit prestigious places in the location or touring new sites that are not originally owned and managed by the indigenes, consider including ultra-local attractions that offer visiting hours on your list of things to do while on the trip. For instance, instead of going to a privately owned beach, or a big chain resort, visit a local riverside where the gate fee may be less but is of direct benefit to the people in the area. You can find these options from online research, scanning and skimming through local newspapers, stopping at tourist offices, inquiring at your hotel front desk, or just asking the locals. Chatting up and befriending the locals Giving back does not always have to be in material ways, it can also come in the form of ideas exchanged during a casual conversation. These usually form the framework for forging a friendship that can be of mutual benefits and last a lifetime. A traveler’s efforts towards forging a connection with the locals can make a difference in both parties lives. |

There is no denying that a large number of the Nigerian labor force complain of “unemployment” and “poor pay” on the regular. While many of the population are adequately qualified, most are either unable to secure a job position, or they lack the desired position in the firms they are employed in. Even more, they have little or no savings and cannot raise the required capital to start their own business or become entrepreneurs. Although the everyday “9 to 5”is the standard employment expectation of Nigerians in cities all over the country, especially Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, the internet has ensured that there are now alternative ways that these potential workers can make more and earn a living. Aside from checking your emails, searching for information, skyping with friends and shopping, the internet can help anyone make money in quick and uncomplicated ways; even without initial capital or professional skills. Jovago.com, Africa’s no.1 online hotel booking site suggests 4 ways people in Nigeria can make some easy money online doing things . Affiliate Marketing This sounds super complicated, but it is actually much easier than most physical jobs. With the internet came the social media — blogs, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and more, and the Nigerian public, especially the working population has embraced it with wide arms. A majority of them are registered and have active presence on these platforms. While having fun, socializing, chatting and posting pictures are the norm on these platform, these users can actually utilize their presence towards making funds by promoting all sorts of companies, products, services and offers online. They can do this by joining an affiliate network online, blog or browse the merchant listings to find something, grab an affiliate link and share it. If someone buys using the link they make a commission. The good thing is that a lot of online platforms for buying and selling have been popping up around the country and are currently in need of sales representatives. Online surveys Online surveys are not very popular in the Nigerian market sphere, but companies are starting to indulge more in market research and other strategies that require surveys; and because most people find answering questionnaires and filling forms tedious, these companies now attached monetary incentive to motivate people towards filing their form. Research companies take it a step further by recruiting new members to answer surveys and test new products and for a few minutes of filling forms, the person can make a couple of cash or a reward. It is usually a slow and steady process but it is very convenient as you can work from anywhere and at any time, even from your toilet! Aside from local Nigerian companies, people in Nigeria can also try international and foreign organizations including MySurvey, Global Test Market and more. Competitions This is a tricky one as entering a competition generally does not guarantee a win and can sometimes be not just time-wasting but also exasperating. However, there is a growing community of competitors consistently making lots of money per time, through all sorts of competitions. These competitions vary, from simply liking a post or picture, to reposting and tagging or just filling a form. You however need to be careful, as some of these competitions might turn out to be fake. |

https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/tumblr_no9nqgBgCC1qjh37to1_1280-660x400.jpg Nigeria has a vibrant art culture with exotic bronze collections from Benin City and northern Nigeria dating as far as the 4th century on display at globally renowned galleries. As the festive season draws near, collectors across the world are making the trip to these parts of Africa where flourishing historic cultures will be on display. Although the world of art can be intimidating, especially if it’s a green field for a prospective buyer, there are key tricks to the trade a budding connoisseur can learn to raise one’s confidence level before making the first purchase. Jovago.com, Africa’s largest hotel booking portal shows you how. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/nigerian_art.jpg Do your research Every piece of art you find is either a great investment or a sink-hole. Taking time out to study the textures, colours and medium can hone your intuition at discerning quality items from adulterated objects, saving you a ton of money in the process. Visit galleries and museums often and discuss with other collectors and artists to help you make a sound decision before buying. Set a budget but be flexible For most art lovers, the things which they regret the most are the works they thought were timeless but did not buy even when they had the chance. As with real estate, the value of a solid piece only goes one way…up! So before you head out to that auction, determine how much you are willing to spend, factor in all the hidden costs such as shipping, framing, insurance, add a little extra in your wallet, just in case something else catches your fancy and bargain. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/ife4_zps6150f051.jpg Ask for a discount There is no harm in asking, “Is that your best price?” In the world of art, the price listed on display is usually not the actual price on offer for the work. Armed with this knowledge, you can ask for a discount when purchasing from a gallery that is keen on growing relationships with a new clients. Buy what you love Before you walk to an auction, glean through the catalogue and pick out pieces that you love. Do some investigation on the selection items and trust your heart when you come to a conclusion. Remember that it’s necessary to physically see the items you are considering before making a down payment as things generally look better in pictures than real life. Keep everything Proper documentation and invoicing can save you from a ton of stress when an investment goes awry. Try not to throw anything away. Receipts, pictures and all other paperwork are things used to authenticate and value a piece if you decide to resell in future. |
https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/QYuat0-480x400.jpg Are you visiting Nigeria and looking for souvenirs or gifts to take back home with you? if you are interested in buying bundles of human hair from any of the markets in Nigeria, you may want to pay close attention to the quality of the hair before making a purchase from vendors around the country. No doubt the human hair trade in Nigeria is budding and the market now offers a wide selection of gorgeous tresses at cheaper prices, however, it is important to be careful while making your selections of these premium hairs which come in form of wigs, weaves, extensions and attachments. Jovago.com, Africa’s no. 1 online hotel booking service suggests 4 things to consider before buying human hair in Nigeria. Check the hair texture Before you buy any hair, check its texture. How soft is it? Does it feel like real textured hair? As is common with businesses around the world, most vendors in Nigeria key into the mystique of human hair being the ultimate premium virgin hair with the perfect texture and luster, and sell all sorts to unassuming customers, attaching its origin from far exotic countries. While there are different kinds of human hair, bear in mind that they all have one thing in common and that is their texture, they are never too coarse or too shiny. They have the texture and feel of permed natural African hair. Ensure there is a certain bounce to it and it should not feel coated or silky smooth like synthetic hair. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/China_100_virgin_malaysian_hair_deep_wave_human_hair_extension7212012110655AM9.jpg Pay close attention to quality. Although human hair is quite expensive and high maintenance, a lot of people still buy it. In Nigeria, possibly because the sellers import in large quantities, the price of these human hairs are way cheaper than what you may find online. However, some tricky companies, while packaging these human hairs, mix them with synthetic fibers or processed hair so as to make more profit. This usually gives an uneven and tacky result when styling. It is therefore important to read reviews to know which brand are most trustworthy and then look out for them in the market. Also, watch out for unnatural hair colors as that is a sure sign that the hair has been altered or is not original human hair at all. Be weary of the price If the selling price of the hair seems to good to be true, it most certainly is not quality product. Everyone looks to score a good bargain, but with human hair, keep in mind that a vendor will never sell an original the same price as you would get other synthetic or fibre strands, no matter how short the length is or what promo his business is running. Vendors usually factor in the cost of importing it, caring for it and packaging it. Invest wisely. Ensure you compare prices before making a purchase, chances are the most expensive is usually more original. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/human_hair_flex3.jpg Check for shedding and bulky wefts Some processing companies buy the hair in its original form and take on the task of processing the hair, either chemically or by steam, so as to achieve a desired wave or curl pattern and a luster that will blend with textured hair. In the process however, sometimes the original texture of the hair is tampered with and the hair is not properly sown, leading to eventual complaints of shedding and bulky wefts from patrons. Good thing is that most original human hair comes in bundles and are not packed. Run your finger through them, shake them and if possible, put a brush through them before you buy. Check the wefts to see if it is unusually swollen and if the seams are tight. Otherwise, you are in for a bad hair experience. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Lace-Front-Human-Hair-Wigs-Loose-Wave-Color2.jpg |
https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/1406580311-483-620x400.jpg Running tracks and fighting taekwondo may be too much of an exercise for many but the little lifestyle choices these athletes make is often the thin line that determines whether they win or not. As the curtain falls on the 2015 Common Wealth Youth Games, Jovago.com Africa’s largest hotel booking portal shares tips on 5 things to learn from our sports team this year. Sleep right Every athlete knows how important quality 8 hour sleep is to their general health. According to the World Association of Sleep Medicine, “if you want to lengthen the lifespan of your brain cells, then go to bed at the same time as kids.” Sports personalities while preparing for a big game cut down on activities that keep them awake late into the night and follow-up with a healthy feeding routine for mental alertness and energy. Having a 30 minute siesta in a quiet environment during the day is also important because it provides the body an opportunity to function properly. Go for the Gold! Keeping your eyes on the reward will help you put in your best at each task. As most business leaders say, ‘99% of the job is in deciding to win the prize’. So set targets and make a commitment to meet them. Focus on winning, create a calendar for your daily projects, stick to it and watch yourself soar…just as the Atlanta ‘94 soccer team did when they competed against defending giants, Brazil. Against all odds, the Nigerian team who left the comfort of their beds in Nigeria with a slim chance of winning, broke a century long jinx and went ahead to get gold at the end of the tournament. Fuel properly If skipping meals regularly is part of your daily routine, then it’s time for a body-check. When living longer and being more productive becomes important to you, then following the examples of successful sport persons is the way to go. Meals laden with sodium, saturated fat and added sugars clog the pores and wear-out muscles. The Nigerian Athletics Commission conducts a thorough examination of the diet each athlete feeds on to ensure that they deliver the best performance each time they hit the tracks and applying this method can improve your quality of life too. Look out for meals that are nutrient-dense and free of empty calories. For tips of on how to create a great eating plan, Google has got a stack of information on what to watch out for. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Nigerian-athletes-acknowled.jpg |

Get out of your comfort zone and expand your boundaries. Experience and appreciate the difference in culture, foods, tradition, languages, norms, beliefs and practices. In doing so, you will come to realize that a town such as Ife is actually a vibrantly, exciting place. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/image51.jpg Pack a good quality camera, take candid pictures There is no doubt that the best way to capture memories and make them last forever is by taking photographs. It could be something as simple as parroting a few phrases or sentences in Yoruba or learning to cook a local dish like Amala or Ewedu soup which is common around the area. Explore the different local activities even if they are different from what you are used to. Visit the popular tourist sites including Ife Museum of Antiquities, Opa Oranmiyan, Okemogun Shrine, Oduduwa Palace, Zoological Gardens and Odua Shrine. Indulge in their local delicacies. Be adventurous and free! Interact with the fellow travels, engage the locals Often, the most spectacular moments of a trip happen on the way to the destination, with the people you meet on the road and the discoveries you make. Take active steps to connect with locals and other travelers. Interact with those who are heading the same destination either in same bus or airplane. Also, on getting to Ife, try and engage with the locals in the town. Ask them questions about their culture and way of life, listen to their stories, patronize them and invite them to engage in certain adventurous activities with you. It is also important that you listen to them and remain polite. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/craft_market_2_400.jpg Share experiences Ife has a lot of markets and shopping complexes, visit them to buy souvenirs and local products before you live the town. Banter and play when you bargain with the locals. When you return to your home, do not keep all the new knowledge gained from your experience at Ife to yourself. Share the pictures and short videos taken with family, friends and followers on social media as well, that way, people can see the town from your point of view, compare experiences and inspire others who are yet to visit the city. |

Riding in a plane 5,000ft above the ground can be a tricky situation. One slip and an entire cabin can go tumbling to ground zero. While you really want to focus your mind on staying positive throughout the journey, you do not want to live through the ride with feelings of unease due to wearing the wrong outfit. While staying comfortable should be at the top of your priority list, a hoodie and worn flip-flops may be a little too much of a fashion statement. To help you get a grip on the art of looking flawless on a plane, Jovago.com Africa’s largest hotel booking portal has compiled this list of 5 steps to dressing for a long flight. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/black-woman-and-white-man-on-plane.jpg Choose the right underwear Underwear…the one thing people take for granted while dressing for the road. When planning for a flight scheduled to take longer than 2 hours, avoid putting on items made from tight or scratchy fabric like nylon and lace which will keep you tweaking your knickers all through. Easy-to-wear textiles like cotton can save you a ton of embarrassment. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/black-business-woman-on-a-plane.jpg Make a little effort Enroute Lagos and looking to be treated like royalty aboard a plane? Then dress fab! Putting a little thought in an attire can open doors of favour from the flight attendant or high-net worth passenger in the next seat. Whilesporting a super glamorous look may be over the top, a touch of class reflected through the choice of clothing shows how much value one places on themselves and their time. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/african-americans-on-plane.gif Wear dark colours Although aeroplanes usually have clean environments, there’s a large degree of bumping and squeezing that takes place while people get on or off the aircraft. This shoving can lead to minor accidents and ruin a brightly coloured shirt. To stay safe, pick darker colours. Keep the socks on Before you leave your hotel room, check your purse for a pair of socks. Sitting in one position for a long period of time in a pressurized cabin can cause most people to retain water in their feet. In order to avoid the puffiness, try packing along a pair of stiff stockings known as ‘compression socks’. The firmness of these socks can prevent swelling and help regulate blood circulation around the legs. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/237EA8BE00000578-2848780-image-33_1416927701663.jpg Take a cardigan with you It can get really cold in a cabin and just as it’s a great idea to protect the legs in-flight, it is equally important that top section the body stays warm. Throwing on a cardigan is a good way to keep the body snug throughout the flight. Comfy shoes Soft ballet pumps for summer and fluffy boots for cold weather are the ideal footwear for an extended trip. Although some passengers would rather stick to the traditional sandals, they give your feet room to expand in-flight, leading to subsequent pain and swelling. If you decide to take off your shoes mid-air, ensure it’s only for a short period or put on your band socks to stay on the safe side. |

https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/sleeping-in-meeting.jpg It happens to everyone! You fly thousands of miles from Lagos, to a faraway city such as Melbourne for an important meeting, and midway into the meeting, you find your eyelids fighting a fierce battle to stay wide and open. While it is uncommon to experience this struggle, it can be utterly mortifying; especially since a business meeting – no matter how long and dreary – is not only an inopportune time or an inappropriate place to nap. Whether dozing off is an after effect of a medication, a result of sleep deprivation, jetlag or even just boredom, Jovago.com, Africa’s No. 1 online hotel booking hotel portal has 5 tips to help you combat slumber at long business meetings. Stand up or Bend and stretch Nothing counters sleep as much as exercise, no matter how little. That is why most speakers at conferences on their own stop proceedings and encourage listeners or partners to move around or stretch, so as to regain their full attention. If you are feeling very sleepy during a business meeting, try standing up and walking around the hotel or venue, and if that would be inconvenient, especially if it will draw too much notice, bend while sitting and stretch your arm as well as legs or back very slightly, it is usually a huge help. Stimulate your nostrils This does not mean picking your nose or anything remotely related. Inhaling scents or sniffing tissues laced with essential oils works wonders for people who tend to feel drowsy in corporate meetings. Some must-try oils include basil oil for focus, eucalyptus to uplift,or peppermint oil to refresh. Stick to a light lunch Most long meeting that take place with hotels or restaurants nearby have breaks during which attendees are permitted to have lunch, and most times, it is during these post-lunch and tea sessions that sleeping culprits are caught. To avoid being a scapegoat, opt for a low-sugar and low-carbohydrate lunch when browsing the buffet. Heavy options like pasta, bread, and sugar can make you feel sluggish, and consequently very sleepy. Instead, try fresh fruits, veggie salads or brain foods to help you sustain brain power and alertness. Chew gum Chewing gum may not be the best option during meetings as it tends to give off a vibe of unseriousness, however, desperate times can call for desperate measures. If the sleep cannot just wear off, it may just be best to go with a bubble gum, as they have a way of helping you maintain focus. However, refrain from chewing too loudly or blowing and smacking it. Avoid coffee, Stay dehydrated Contrary to general belief, coffee can sometimes cause fatigue. While the substance may be stimulating and can ward off drowsiness for a while, it eventually leads to dehydration which is one of the major causes of fatigue. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/lagos1-e1370705424507-660x400.jpg Having travelled the world, you get a pretty fair view on how fascinating some countries and the cultures they carry can be. In the spirit of repartee and with a pinch of salt, Jovago.com, Africa’s largest hotel booking portal presents 7 reasons why you should take a second look at the most populous black nation in the world. 1. Because their men are great lovers Ever been kissed by a Nigerian man? They smile at you and you are hooked! There is no actual word for their form of kissing but it’s akin to having your lips plugged to a suction pipe, an embrasser avec la langue of sorts which leaves you coming back for more. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/kerry.png 2. Because we’ve been allowed to believe that Nigerian women can’t get slim Current diet books claim that Nigerian women are chubby because they eat only fresh beef, all day. However, the truth is that their obesity rates are lower than other parts of the continent and they feed on a diet rich in fiber. The fact that Agbani Darego went on to win the Miss World pageant in 2001 is further proof. 3. They have no chill for wildlife, too All flying and crawling creatures are for food in this country. In 2015, millions of chickens and goats are force-fed with grass in order to produce enough meat for a single meal. Heck, there’s a part of Nigeria where dogs are considered a delicacy. How adventurous is that?! https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/10606528_1030976030276311_1252022389189905197_n.17901694.jpg 4. Because they love humour Have you heard a Nigerian laugh before? Utter bliss! Before the Revolution, the French invented the word l’esprit, which means ‘wit’, but the term “humour” had no comparison until this group of people were created. At the slightest tickle, they burst in rib-racking laughter with mirth bubbling from their belly. No wonder they are called the happiest people on the planet. 5. And they think their cooking is the best in the world Nigerian’s version of a gourmet meal is a delight to eat. They boast of 5-star multichain hotels with international standard chefs and when the platter each served, the dishes are large enough to cater to a football team. Who knows, maybe this is what makes their dishes so popular. Coincidence, yeah? https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/142366775497271.jpg 6. Because they love Fela In 1969, Fela went on tour of the United States as the first authentic black musician to play in 10 American cities. His fame did not stop there. With his quick tongue and witty disposition, he soon became a primary target of the military regime he fought against. Although, he died of AIDS and had a heavy drug problem, Fela’s music went platinum long before Nigerian music gained global recognition. 7. And they hate rock ‘n’ roll At least most of them do. It’s strange how you see them gyrating to a class of music called afropop, which a lot of rhythm by the way.Yes, their artistes have won countless awards around the globe and yes, their excitement is infectious sometimes…when you are at the club, this is all that matters! |
https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/pshikotra_photography_fashion_editorial_beauty_bukola_maradarah29-548x400.jpg For a few years, there has been a raging battle between Fulani herdsmen and farmers of Nigeria’s middle states of Benue, Jos and Taraba. This conflict if left to mutate can discourage tourists from visiting the different amazing destinations situated in this region. Jovago.com, Africa’s No 1 hotel booking portal shares 3 possible tips on how to resolve this conflict; Fulani Herdsmen Fulani herdsmen are popular for being cattle rearers which makes it essential for them to navigate their prized cows, from one location to another in search for food and water. As a result of this regular search, it may lead to the invasion of other peoples farms by the herdsmen. The Farmers Benue State is regarded as the food basket of the nation. It is an agrarian state because of the fertile soil and this makes agriculture very important for their livelihood and survival, and has inevitably attracted Fulani herdsmen to Benue and other Middle belt states. So, the farmers rue the wanton ravaging of their lands as it destroys of their source of livelihood. At the end, it becomes a battle for survival. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/5366727551_fe386253da_o.jpg So how can this be checked? Tackle Desertification According to research findings a sandy desert occupies about 35 to 40 percent of the land mass of frontline Nigerian States of Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi. Over the years, the desert has consumed different parts of the region due to deforestation and pastoralism. This has encouraged many Fulani herdsmen to move from their base in these states, southwards. The middle belt and other parts of Nigeria are bearing the brunt. To forestall this continued migration, the government needs to encourage reforestation and irrigational farming. Bridge the Indigenes – Settler differences When the Fulanis find themselves in the farmer’s territory despite spending decades in the middle belt region, they are still regarded as settlers by the indigenes. This differences should be bridged through regular meetings, social gatherings, festivals and sporting events. Ranching Zone This is a key factor the government, herdsmen and farmers have to agree on. A large expanse of land set aside solely for grazing should be declared as ranching zone. This should be established across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. It will go a long way in reducing the tension between the farmers and the herdsmen. |

https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/dolphin.jpg When football fans discuss soccer, a non-partisan or disinterested person will be amazed by the passion and gusto with which the fans argue. The fan try as much as possible to defend their team reeling out incredible match statistics, trophies won and names of players. You will think they are being paid but alas, it is a platform for purgation from stress and escape from their daily routine. As a result, bars, hotels and viewing centres in different parts of Benin are filled to the brim with fans at the edge of their seats hoping that their team will win as is usually the case when the English Premiership, Spanish La Liga, French League, and German Bundesliga are in season. While the love for sports should be celebrated, the religious fanatism for foreign leagues has been said to contribute to the detriment of the Nigerian league which struggles for recognition and acceptance among teeming fans. Jovago.com Africa’s No 1 hotel booking portal shares 6 ways to make the tournament more attractive to football fans. Media coverage On radio, television and sports pages of newspaper, reporters prefer to report foreign leagues. Surprisingly, on radio sports show, many so called sports analyst do not have information about the Nigerian tournaments compared to the unlimited statistics at their fingertips on European leagues. There are only a handful of journalists who can mention 10 players, and the highest goal scorer of the Nigerian League. Without effective media coverage, the league will continue to decline. If the media can give as much attention as they give to European leagues, it will go a long way in developing the league. More Sponsorship The Nigerian Premier League’s official title sponsors is Glo, a telco in Nigeria. It signed a three-year partnership totalling N1.89 billion dollars with the League Management Company (LMC) Limited which will expire this year according to Supersport.com. The deal was signed in 2013. Although this is good, the impact has not been felt in the league as many of the teams are owing salaries, cannot pay sign on fees and some of the league games are poorly organized. The marketing department of the league need to get more sponsors rather than relying on a single one. There are many corporate bodies out there willing to sponsor if they are guarantee judicious and transparent use of the money. Improved Stadium https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/The-Akwa-Ibom-International-stadium.jpg A good stadia attracts good football. This is a reason why European football is attractive. Despite the fact the League Management Company (LMC) Limited has placed bans on some stadiums, this has not led to the improvement of stadiums. Many of these stadiums are in a state of disrepair while the natural grass is not well nurtured thus, the television video coverage is not up to scratch. The LMC should support the clubs to upgrade these stadiums to make television complaint. Increase online presence The LMC and clubs like Heartland, Lobi Stars, Sunshine Stars, Enyimba, Shooting Stars and Warri Wolves among others must be commended for their concerted efforts in increasing their online presence especially providing real time tweets of match proceedings on twitter. But, more efforts are still required so that sports journalists can access information to write their stories. They can start by launching an active website. Safety and security of fans Football fans will always put their safety and security ahead of their passion for football. This is because there have been reports that fans being attacked, referees and coaches of opposing teams beaten to a pop. Meanwhile, the LMC hands out punishment in an attempt to end this menace. Despite this, it is yet to boost the confidence of fans as they decide stay at home rather than go to the stadium. If security of fans and journalists are guaranteed, they will visit stadiums to watch their favourite teams. End government club ownership Out of the 20 club competing in the Nigerian Premiership only Giwa FC and FC Ifeanyinubah are privately owned. The remaining 18 are at the mercy of the state government. The players are often owed salaries due to government bureaucracy. Aside from this, the government have other state responsibilities. Thus, owning a sports club may be a distraction. If the league wants to be attractive, the government have to hands-off owning football club. They should either be quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange or privately owned. This will bring about effective management and structure. |

https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Tiwa-Savage-Kele-Kele.jpg If you are frequent visitor to Lagos, Nigeria or you are a lover of Nigerian music, the name “Tiwa Savage” will most certainly ring a bell as the MAVIN songstress is one the few female artistes in the country with a wide pull of fans and followers. Currently an ambassador for major brands, Tiwa’s popularity is certainly justifiable as from her sonorous voice and elegance to unbeatable dance moves, there is a lot to love about her. While the common assertion is that Nigerian music mostly lack depth and meaning, Tiwa’s songs have not only appealed to inhabitants as well as people on a trip to the country, but have also motivated a large number of people around the nation, including Abuja, Port Harcourt and Enugu, with messages on love and life. Jovago.com, Africa’s No. 1 online hotel booking service highlights these inspirational messages below. Genuine Love deserves expression Tiwa’s first hit song “kele kele love” was the hit that launched her into limelight. While the beat is very catchy and the lyrics spurring, there is no neglecting the powerful message embedded in the song. Some lines in the song that highlight this message include: “Only serious candidates should come and holla…”, and “…till you shout on the roof that I’m your love”. Bottom line is, when love is true, the partners are bold, honest and proud of sharing it with themselves and the world. Most love interests who are hesitant to define the relationship or that are sneaky about the entire “situation” are mostly unserious. Genuine loves necessarily deserves expression. https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/tiwa-small-1.jpg Every Relationship Needs Time We are in the quick-fix-or-abandon generation where most people generally lack the patience required to groom and grow relationships, however in one of her most recent songs Love yellow, where the singer implores a lover to keep showing her affection, a part of the lyrics says “…so why don’t we just take our time until we get this right…”.That line alone reveals that although there might be love, patience and the added luxury of a well-planned vacation are still required to keep things beautiful. Hating is never productive No doubt a lot of Nigerian music artists sing about their haters and beefing in general, however, Tiwa savage takes the message further by personalizing it and taking it a little further in her song “Folarin” where she spits: “…tell the haters say not to worry ‘cause i’m here to stay…see them running their mouth like WC, while i’m singing around making my money…” In other words, hating is never productive, it never stops the person being hated from progressing, rather it limits the hater one way or the other. https://dailymail.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Aliko-Dangote.png Everyone business man thrives on confidence and integrity; and the ultimate business traveler understands the need to exude these characteristics in every destination as most times, the success of their endeavours depend on it. As important as this is, not all business travellers are naturally endowed with it. Most groom the virtue over time by culturing their body to play the role through certain gestures, body language and subconscious signals, as these play a huge role in determining how they are perceived by others and subsequently influences how well their business meeting or transactions turn out. Fortunately, the necessary body language which channels this required confidence and integrity can easily be developed through practice. It is therefore important that people study the signals we give out when meeting others, as while a person’s true motives and intentions may not be necessarily known on a first meeting, the body language goes a long way to create a first impression which could make or break the possibility of a long-term relationship. From the way you move your eyes to the way you shake a hand, Jovago.com, Africa’s No. 1 online hotel booking service suggests psychological tricks that can make any executive exude confidence and integrity. Ditch the Frown https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/black-business-man.jpg Put on a happy face. Everyone responds positively to a smile, especially when it is soft and subtle. There are some people who are convinced that they have the “resting bitch face syndrome” and cannot help a frown even when their face is on neutral, but that is not entirely true. A facial expression is something that can be mastered through practice. A frown has a way of putting people off or making them perceive you as a social danger, even when you are not. A genuine smile on the other hand, when delivered properly, gives off the impression that you are nice and you are most possibly trustworthy; and this beefs up your integrity, making it very easily to convince the prospective partners to seal the deal. Keep Eye Contact https://blog.ng.jovago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/shaking-hands-stakeholder-meeting.jpg In some cultures, steady eye contact especially when relating with an older person is seen as rude, however, on a general note, it can be instrumental to creating an impression. The eye is said to be the window to the soul, as well as mirror that reflects thoughts, and so, it is a plays an important role in exuding confidence and credibility. To appear confident and capable to whoever you are meeting, it is important to maintain eye contact throughout the time. The constant eye contact also makes people perceive you as more open and sincere. While keeping eye contact, avoid blinking too rapidly or staring completely blank at the other person as it might have the adverse effect of presenting you as uninterested, cold or even creepy. If you need to break eye contact for any reason, do it slowly rather than abruptly, that way you still hold the person’s attention.
