The sticking point is that his appointment letter doesn't stipulate any amount as salary. And he cannot be awarded any arbitrary amount. No judge or jury will try it.

That's why he's embarking on the smear campaign, he knows he has no chance in a competent law court.

A demand for 24/7 power may be unrealistic, but it is clearly the first step in a negotiation that the school is supposed to counter by at least providing power for the whole night, and part of daylight. This is how a University should be run.

If the VC cannot make the basics happen, he should be relieved of his job and someone else should be appointed there.

The school has always had 24 hrs electricity until two months ago when the light bill increased by over 150%

If the school fees and other charges are increased to reflect the new reality most students won't be able to afford it. The students are being unrealistic in their demands. The school management needs time to respond to the latest setback.

Uniben is an academic institution. If they can't generate renewable energy internally then it's a disappointment for a school that has some of the finest electrical engineers in Nigeria

But how will you raise the funds for the project? By increasing school fees, waiting for Govt or begging for funds.

They should have expected this, once there's protest, the University will shutdown to control damages that may occur should the protest continue

The country has power challenge.
If the students are asked to pay higher fees for regular power supply , they will still protest.


To maintain regular power with the current price of diesel is very expensive for an institution whose fees are less than $100.
