Please anyone cukes farmer in Ibadan should direct me on where to sell my produce. Thanks |
Usmanovic95:Thanks bro, it is a factor. But if you wait for the ewe to be older like a year and half then you should maybe except twins as first born. Also the genetics of the bloodline of the ewe and ram sometimes decide birth of twins. There are some breeds that will only give birth to twins or more. |
To every farmer, may we reap the fruit of your labor. Amen |

|
We have a new lamb and first time mother . She gave birth at a year 2 weeks precisely
|
Picture of a pallet is attached below. It comes in either wooden or plastic form. It makes the sanitation system easier for both the animals and the farmer. A good carpenter can construct the wooden ones just tell him to use good wood because of constant exposure to urine for it to last long.

Aquadude16:Good evening bro, please I need your guidance on where I can sell my cukes in Ibadan. I will be harvesting next tomorrow. Thanks am located Iwo, Osun state |
Usmanovic95:I will do that soon. I will also upload some videos on each segments on youtube so as to explain further. |
If your housing is done correctly you will spend less on drugs and increase your profit margin. |
If you’re able to provide good housing your animals will be comfortable and productive. Try eat and sleeping in a dirty room and see if you won’t get sick. |
Wooden or plastic crates can be used on the floor to prevent direct contact with their urine and dungs. Note that their urine contains high level of ammonia which is toxic if inhaled. So your ventilation has to be top notch. Also put in mind that during cold weather you should be able to make the room enclosed too. To prevent cold from killing your sheeps |
The house can be raised so the animals urine and dung falls to the ground where it will be packed daily. If you can’t make a raised house then you should think of making it a little bit sloppy so as the urine and dungs to move out. |
HOUSE MANAGEMENT To maintain a good house it has to be constructed in such a way that it will minimize stress when you are about to clean the rooms. First prioritize enough ventilation when constructing. Most people use woods when constructing the houses but I use blocks in my own due to the intensity of rainfall and flooding in my farm. Termites are friends to woods so use treated woods if you will be using them and know at that repair will be more often that way. When planning try to provide a house that will last at least a decade which means you have to go for quality at all cost. Your housing defects can destroy your investment. |
MANAGEMENT Under management of your sheep’s we will talk about house management, disease management, lamb management and so on. Will add others as I remember too |
IamAsiri:I planted them. Bought the stems cutting and planted . |
IamAsiri:I meant elevated planks of wood that will allow passage of urine and feaces to the floor so as to prevent their contact with it |
Redomi:Dissolve a full sachet of caterpillar force in 1Litre of water and use 50ml in 16-20litre knapsack sprayer. The other insecticide dosage will be determine based on the company’s instructions |
Redomi:Upload the pic let’s see to determine what to be used |
Billioon:Sheep and ram housing is something that shouldn’t be really over the top. It has to meet some standard criterias. Ventilation must not be joked with, you need slab on the floor to prevent them getting cold and sleeping on their urine and a roofing sheet to prevent rain is also important. As your pocket is, you can build to your own satisfaction but these are the requirements you must adhere too.

It’s really nice to meet fellow sheep farmers here. @Opeyemix @miximizer61 How’s the business going? and hope you’re guys are still rearing ? Best of luck to everyone |
dandylass:The meat is soft compare to goat. It’s called mutton. Very delicious too. I am a sheep farmer and I have a dedicated thread to that on nairaland. |
You can delay the application of fertilizer till after your first harvest so as to prevent this and apply just minimal amount of nitrogen fertilizer. |
When my Okro was about to start producing pod at week 6 I applied a high nitrogen fertilizer 20:10:10 which stimulated the growth of more leaves in respect to pod. As a farmer i need pods to make money not leaves. So please take note of that. |
I made a mistake which I will love to share with my fellow readers and farmers. There is a technicality in the application of fertilizer to Okro due to the fact that the Okro plant continues to grow all through til the end of its life. |
ashpanez:I use a urea(nitrogen) based foliar fertilizer for the first 3weeks then I stopped. Am using a 20L knapsack so I use 100ml. I apply once in a week only. |
Harvesting begins this week by God’s grace
|
Theophinio:Very easy to sell. It depends on your marketing strategy and how big and healthy your animals are |
Usmanovic95:1.A male sheep under good management will start breeding by 5month. Females will breed by 7month max under good management. 2. Inbreeding absolutely affects your breed. Always change the ram you use to breed and get good viable rams. Your success in the business depends on it |
Johnboom:There are different types of dewormers in the market. Albendazole, levamisole, ivermectin are the ones I use. I do rotate them to avoid resistance. Levamisole and ivermectin are injectable. Albendazole is in tablet or liquid form. |

. Answers with pictures will be highly appreciated.
