justlovesfarmin:No you should practice crop rotation so as to reduce disease and insect infestation. We divide the farm land into portions and do rotation. Maize after Okro and vice versa |
For those who want to reach out to me WhatsApp: 07040404236 Compliments of the season ![]() |
Prices went as low as 500 this year and within 2 markets it was back up. It’s all part of the game and experience. Gluts happen o that is why you plant at strategic times |
Nigerfine3:Getting to a stage of not finding buyers ke I don’t think that is possible. Gluts happen sometimes but it will subdue |
Which area are you thinking of |
Dry season spacing is 30cm by 30cm . Two rows within a furrow. Raining season is 50cm by 50cm |
I don’t know if you are on irrigation but if not you cannot plant plantain by February. Another time to put into consideration is an arable crop that you can plant with your plantain which will give you ROI within 3 months so that you will use the money from that to be maintaining your plantain plantation. Examples of arable crops are maize,Okro, pepper ,tomato |
The best time to go into Okro farming is between mid February and early march because the weather is favorable, yield is excellent and market price is at its peak |
I source from my best producing seeds every time. |
ashpanez:Good day bro, I most have missed that. It depends on the insecticide being used. If it’s vanguish use 30ml in 20L knapsack sprayer, if it’s Imiforce used 15ml in 20L knapsack sprayer, caterpillar force is 50ml in 20L sprayer. |
Omo9ja147:Me I don’t calculate that, because I have enough seeds to go year round. I searched on goggle it says 111,111 per hectare |
Glyphosate is also used in the process of control spraying to eliminate weeds in competition with Okro plant. As long as it doesn’t touch the leaves you are good ![]() |
umuna:It won’t because it is being used before the emergence of the Okro plants |
amanda2013:It takes about 55days |
Planted before the harmattan |
I am located in iwo osun state |
My dry season Okro project it was planted on the 6th of November. I will post a vid on IG to explain better
|
Paraquat is cheaper yes though it’s effect on weed is not that strong is a quick action herbicide unlike 2-4D which is systemic and also compliments the action of glyphosate when used together. |
I have it |
Where are you located |
Kobojunkie:It is possible you just have to give each plant enough nutrients to avoid competition and let your insecticide spraying regime be top notch. |
Kobojunkie:Please what is the use of the information you are asking ? are you planning to grow in a sack ? |
For a plant like Okro that is drought resistant it has a deep tap root system with other aerial roots . |
Zico777:Shey na inside this one you see egg |
By the grace of God I will be starting an Okro project by February and will carry everyone along so as to give you more insight. Merry Christmas in advance |
Xpol:I do furrow irrigation on my farm as the topography does not support drip. Spacing should be 30by 30cm from one plant to another and two rows are planted within the furrow |
There is no way you won’t make your investment back on a crop like Okro. |
Imagine planting sweet corn and when you harvest its glut period and you can only harvest once compare to a crop you will harvest for at least 16times if you manage the farm properly. |
Okro is one of the easiest crop to grow that gives you money like you are on a retirement plan. I plant hectares of Maize too but I must confess the ROI cannot be compared, like it’s not even close |
Bishopatra:You should be able to get it by end of January. Harvesting of pod is still ongoing. |
FarmTech:A chicken feed bag contains 2 of the basket.
|
Some farmers harvest only 6 times and the crop will stop producing. |
