You can deworm during pregnancy it just depend on the type of dewormer you’re using. You can give the sheep Albendazole oral solution until the last 3 month of pregnancy . |
IamAsiri:Good evening everyone. There are two ways to look at the issue. First we aren’t sure if she is pregnant or not. If the sheep is in its 4th month then you should start seeing signs of pregnancy like enlarge stomach, the breast getting bigger. |
New kid 🚨. This Uda ewe is the first mother that was born on our farm. She’s way bigger than every other ewe I bought !! She was crossed with my Yankasa ram hence the color of the lamb. I am loving this journey.

Maryam1234:Amen ma |
aka12:You can use D.I grow green during the vegetative state and use D.I red starting when you see pod formation. |
Alamkir:That’s how this Uda sheep’s are. |
Alamkir:First time mother tits aren’t that big. Milk still Dey sha ![]() |
felixzo1:Not really. I have more than 20 bought Uda on my farm and have only recorded two deaths which I can even say it’s not because of the grass. The moment they land on my farm it’s always straight to the pasture. |
New kid alert 🚨. This is special to me one of my new stock gotten in July
|
felixzo1:Dry grass will work. In my own case they have to adapt to the environment conditions here because what am after is actually breeding them here in my own southern climatic conditions. So either you survive or die. |
Nice thread. Having fun with what you do is the ultimate goal. I like this |
I do mainly grass fed with the exception to my new stock, weak ones and pregnant and nursing ewes. Picture below is them snacking on glyricidia leaves which is very high in protein.
|
You can only try your best when you buy sheep’s from all these popular markets because you have no record to work with to know what conditions they might have and how best to handle it. If only sheep’s can talk ![]() |
If you can recall I got a new stock in July which consists of 8 sheeps and 1 ram. I have lost two of the sheep’s. The first due to diarrhea which I did my very best using different antibiotics such as sulphadinidine, tetracycline, metronidazole all to no avail. The second died due to abortion which I can’t say what really triggered it. I have learnt a lot through this new stock as all my other stock which I got in May(6 of them) are still hale and hearty and one of them is even with a lamb . I will keep trying my best and know very strongly I will continue no matter what! It’s all part of the journey.

New kid alert ‼️

New kid alert ‼️. The biggest kid I have gotten so far this year. In terms of birth weight I give it to Uda sheeps
|
Liadi2:You can compound Pkc, broken maize, soya beans and wheat offal together. If you can get cassava peels too add it . Your ratio of mixture will be determined by how fast you want them to get fattened. Also add mineral premix and salt very important. |
The maize needs to see a native herbalist cause the yellowing no be for here ![]() |
Happy New Month!!! New kid alert
|
What’s the water holding capacity of the 150k tarpaulin pond |
You can add it to the feed you’re giving them, gradually they will adapt and you increase it quantity. Kindly still keep giving them their regular feed. Jub101: |
Liadi2:I don’t! it’s their natural instinct from there first arrival to the farm. From my truck to tonic water to grasses sequentially |
I am happy to announce we have a new bouncing Uda cross kid in our midst oo
|
Where’s your location ? |
Get multivitamin and also antibiotic for them. Welcome to the club.!! |
Liadi2:I am very happy for you bro!! |
safarifarms:Goats don’t tolerate water as much as sheep do. Sheep can be left in the rain with no effect on their health that’s not true for goats. Goats command good price and when you compare the prices of both of them due to growth rate sheep (both male and female) are more expensive. |
We welcome a new member to our hub yesterday!!
|
safarifarms:Thank you for the question. The main reasons I consider sheep to be my main focus are plenty but I will try and mention some : They are herd animals which suites the kind of extensive or semi intensive husbandry i practice 2. They cohabitate easily with the swampy area my farm is located 3. They aren’t choosy to the kinds of feed they are given 4. They are grazers which means they prefer grasses to tree leaves unlike goat. 5. They grow bigger and command more prices both male and female 6. They are very calm and easy to control. |
safarifarms:If you have multiple births on your farm during the rejection I believe you can find another ewe to breastfeed her but it’s a tedious process. You will weigh your options and see what works for you. |
Liadi2:It depends on the size and health condition. I got one for 85k. |
I stock from AKINYELE RAM MARKET IBADAN. Price range between 45-55 for females |
