That was what I needed you to clarify. Not yet and u know why.... Dangote can now push for that if he is sure he can supply the whole nation |

Wallade: If it is not "monopoly per say" then what is it?
What law are you talking about? Can you quote the law from the statutes or Gazette or constitution or precedent or..... Just give us the reference to it. the importation of bagged cement for example was banned to promote local production.... The ban was issued under the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) and Customs Tariff Act..... It's not monopoly, dangote didn't stop you from building your factory or refinery.... |
Politics › Re: Why DAPPMAN’s Outdated Business Model Crumble Against Dangote Refinery – Otedola by Judolisco(m): 11:21am On Sep 22, 2025 |
Wallade: I agree that Dangote Refinery is not a problem; it is a big solution.
I also see your analogy on DAPPMAN being obsolete and the gradual extinction of Tank Farms in the Nigerian market.
However, a good understanding of Dangote conglomerate would reveal that his businesses thrives on monopolies - he wants pure monopoly of the downstream petroleum products market in the interim.
This will make it very difficult for new entrants into the petroleum refinery business to compete with his structures and dominace..
Dangote Refinery efforts to prevent her staff from Unionism is simply to totally influence and control the activities of her staff and prevent external influences - this can be good but the flip side is when Dangote Refinery takes advantage and exploit the staff, which will happen because Dangote Refinery is a capitalist organization, there will be no pressure group to defend the staff.
As for DAPPMAN, they really should look into setting up some refinery business of their own. its not monopoly per say.....there is a law that once we can manufacture and distribute a product sufficiently in Nigeria then all importation of that product must stop.....we were importing cement before and rebagging, dangote started producing, went to court to stop people from importing, how is that monopoly? he didnt stop people from building their manufacturing plant and competing... |

Christianity Etc › Re: Can Christians Listen To Secular Music? by Judolisco(m): 11:28am On Sep 21, 2025 |
Psalmcomng: Let’s be honest. Many Nigerian Christians sing along to secular songs daily.
From Afrobeats to hip hop, it is everywhere.
But here is the question: is it right for a Christian to be vibing to songs that glorify money, sex, pride, or violence?
Some people say music is just entertainment and has nothing to do with your faith. But is that true?
If music has no spiritual effect, then why did David use Psalms to drive away evil spirits from Saul? Clearly, music carries power.
Here are some hard questions to consider:
1. If a song promotes immorality, can you really claim it does not affect your spirit?
2. Why do many believers find it easier to memorize secular lyrics than Bible verses?
3. If Jesus sat beside you, would you still play those tracks on your playlist?
Yes, not every secular song is dirty. But let’s face it. Most of the trending ones do not glorify God.
They glorify self, lust, and greed.
A Christian who keeps feeding on such lyrics should not be surprised if their spiritual fire goes cold.
I broke down this issue with scriptures and practical tips in my full article here: https://www.psalm.com.ng/Nigerian-Christians-Listen-Secular-Music
What’s your take? Are Christians free to enjoy secular music, or is it a trap that slowly drags them away from God? can Christians watch secular movies? |

Christianity Etc › Re: Nigeria Anglican Church Creates 15 New Dioceses, Elects New Bishops (FULL LIST) by Judolisco(m): 11:28am On Sep 19, 2025 |
ebuka1511: Ok oh, this is just not right and feasible. The Anglican Communion is trying to compete with the Pentecostal churches on expansion, forgetting the time we live in. Let us face it, among the existing Dioceses currently running, how many amongst them are self-sustaining, outside the mother Dioceses?
Come to Rivers State, using Oyigbo LGA as a case study. We have up to four different Dioceses there, listed as follows: Evo Diocese, Ukwa Diocese, Etche Diocese, and a part of the Niger-Delta Diocese (Iriebe areas, with boundaries that include Umuebule IV). A surprising trend is that all these Dioceses are outcompeting themselves at Church Planting. Some churches are in rented homes / shops! My own Anglican Church, in a rented hall!!.
Now what you will notice is that there are lots of fundraising, and fund appeals by these small churches to their members and then, these churches are being given unrealistic "Quota" amounts to be paid to their head Dioceses. The result is that you will see real Anglicans leaving the church for other Pentecostal Churches due to the incessant fundraising and fund appeals in the church.
It is a pity that the Anglican Church I grew up in has now changed drastically. Quantity has been prioritised over quality, and it is so sad. In my town, with 12 villages in Anambra state, it is just 4 years ago that another Anglican church was planted in my town making it just 2 Anglican churches in a town of almost 200,000 inhabitants, (before this, we just have 1 Anglican church), which has a functioning and running School, which is cool, but where I currently live, We have the presence of 4 Dioceses with more than 10 different Anglican churches across 4 Dioceses, and population is less than my town of origin.
Now what do we see? Reverends whose salaries are not paid on time and poorly renumerated, uninhabitable buildings for churches and scanty membership across all the churches.
Growing up, Churches were grand edifices with stained colored window glasses, huge expanse of land with an attached space for cemetery. I guess it is the time we find ourselves now, I might just be old school, but the more Dioceses been created especially in areas already saturated will not help the growth of the Anglican church, many of these churches cannot sustain theirselves, (Recall my village church has a full fledge school from Nursery to Secondary school with full population) many members are leaving the church to churches where they are not been tasked always to raise funds for the church.
I wish the Primate Head of the Anglican Communion will look into this. Thanks my bro for dis wonderful observation.....i was surprised when i got to my village to see that the wonderful church built by the white missionaries have been demolished and another was being constructed....i'm not even against rebilding but nothing was wrong with the former structure....even the whites who built it are still using their 1000 yrs old buildings ....also the population has not increased its not like, there are people sitting outside during the service.....and u also raised a very important point that people are now leaving the church especially youths... |

Elipsis: The people who keep on supporting the State of Emergency have no idea what Tinubu just did.
The damage done to democracy will take many years to fix. This isn't about Obi or Atiku. It's about our collective future as a people.
Tomorrow, a Northern President can declare an SOE on Lagos or any other Governor that doesn't play ball. How will we be able to oppose that President when Tinubu did it successfully in Rivers State?
Also, notice that there was no yardstick in appointing Ibas as Sole Administrator. A President can simply appoint his son, his relation or his best friend to rule over the State.
Who are we going to complain to then? which ball u dey talk about? Tinubu should have waited for fubara and wike to burn rivers down arbi? |
