September 2024: Another period of scarcity occurred, with the NNPCL acknowledging its debt to petrol suppliers, which had put pressure on the company and threatened a sustainable fuel supply.

February 2025: A potential scarcity loomed as tanker drivers threatened a strike, citing harassment from officials and logistical issues, which could disrupt fuel delivery.

September 2025: The country faced generation shortfalls on the national grid due to industrial action by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) within the gas supply chain.
