President Buhari addressed the nation in the early hours of today as part of the new year rituals to explain to Nigerians the administration plans for the year and what has been achieved so far.
The President in his message promised an improved security, economy sustainability, power supply, winning the war on terror and projects that will be completed or commence this year. However, here are the five talking points extrapolated from the President's message;
1. FG Commitment To EndSARS Demands
The President talked about the understandable protests by youths demanding for police reform and accountability. President Buhari said the government has heard their cries and are committed to fulfill all the five demands they presented to the government. This is because he fully understand the desire for a better Nigeria which the youths are championing.
2. President Buhari promises to reorganize security apparatus
Many Nigerians have been calling on the government to change his service chiefs due to their incompetence. In his broadcast message, the President promised to reorganise, re-energize the security apparatus and personnel of the armed forces and the police with a view to enhance their capacity.
It is not clear thou if he would sack his service chiefs but it is nice to see he will shuffle the packs in the security personnel to tackle extremist groups causing havoc in the country.
3. Covid-19 Measures
President Buhari in his message promised that to keep the country safe from the new variants of coronavirus, plans has been made for the purchase, efficient and effective distribution of the Covid-19 vaccines. He urged everyone to adhere to the strict coronavirus prevention protocols laid out.
4. I Will Play My Part Without Fair Or Favour
In the wake of recent criticism of the pastor by some clergies that the President is displaying nepotism, he has assured the country that his pledge has always being the same. He said "I will play my part fully and without fear or favour. I invite all of us to do the same".
The President wish we all can also play our part because it is what we owe to the founding generations.
5. Revamping The Economy
The Nigerian economy suffered greatly due to the coronavirus pandemic which led to the government shutting down most states during the lockdown. On ways to revamp the economy, President Buhari said this will be done through national economic diversification agenda that supports food sufficiency.
Also, adequate measures are in place to improve the infrastructural base which include rehabilitation, expansion of railways, road and bridges. Plans for adequate distribution of electricity to homes and factories has been guaranteed.

I dont think any of you (bulbians) have the right to judge me for withdrawing my support from laycon and then moving to Erica(till date) because right from the very beginning, I declared my support for Katrina and then later moved to Erica and wont deny the fact that I once supported laycon but it wasn't out of love(cos I wouldn't have left him for Erica),he was body shamed by certain people and I just had to defend and hype him out of pity(which I deeply regret).
What turned me against him was the way he constantly slandered Erica and felt entitled to her love and acceptance...he made people see him as the victim and Erica as the villain and the way his bulbians constantly dragged Erica made me dislike him.

An Experience I Don't Wish For Anyone To Have
Many have wondered what it feels like to be infected with Covid-19, this is because many survivors do not recount their experience. 2020 is a year to be remembered for me because I got struck with a virus claiming the lives of millions of people. I heard the myth that it was a rich man infection, I believed too thou until the symptoms started to manifest in me and my test result was confirmed on Sunday, July 12.
The first question that came to my mind was how did I contract this virus? If I had to narrow it down, it would be the gym or supermarket since my office was closed down during the lockdown. Initially, it started with a weird dry cough. As days passed by, the cough got worse and more worse where I could not go on with a conversation on the phone. As if that was not enough, fever kicked in. I experienced some light headedness and dizziness which I later got to know were symptoms of hypoxia due to lack of oxygen getting to me.
The last symptom lasted for long and gave me the most scare. I lost my sense of smell and taste. This confirmed my suspicion that my ailment wasn't just flu but Covid-19. I contacted the medical taskforce and after some interview on phone, they sent some of their staffs to my house. Getting the test was a gory experience because my temperature was high. The medical team were kitted in their full hazmat and after filling some paper works, my first test was a throat swab. They took two long cotton swabs and scraped out the back of my throat which hurt for many days afterwards.
The test result came positive and I was taken to a facility to receive medical attention. The doctor and nurses where great and constantly reminds me that I will survive it. I could remember them holding prayer sessions because I was becoming more restless and cried constantly. I tried too hard not to vomit after taken my drugs so I can recover quickly. The road to recovery was hard and long but due to efforts, prayers and love from these medical staffs, I was able to recover fully after two weeks.
I am able to share my story today because God gave me the privilege to survive a storm that had taken the lives of many across the world. I still remember those medical staffs every time who put their lives on the line. Their prayers and soothing words surprisingly had good effects on me. 2020 was tough for me but I survived.
I am sharing my story today to help solve the issue of stigmatisation. Contracting the virus is never a death sentence baring any underlying health conditions. With good medical care and eating balances diets, your road to survival is guaranteed. I noticed that many survivors don't share their stories but I hope mine can demystify the myths around Covid-19 and those who tested positive.
